The Songs Within Us
Songs have an impact on our lives. They remind us of special times that we shared. They express how we feel about something, without actually having to say it in black and white. They can depress us or they can uplift us. Songs have the power to unleash and provoke our perceptions and emotions. Below are the lyrics to a FEW songs that have or had a strong impact on my life. I will post up different lyrics from time to time. - Mary Shaw - Click here to see a long list of ALL my favourite songs |
CITY
NOISE <<
>> Scarling
* (Song
Added November 2005) This song comes from Scarling's 2005 album
entitled "So Long Scarecrow." This song is catchy and
reminds me a little bit of Shirley Manson and Garbage.
Another crowded dance floor / Another empty glass / Another failed hello / Its your alibi / Another splendid lie / Its the bruises that you cant show / Its another lonely sunset / Another starless sky / The nervousness inside / Its the final kiss from a lovers fist / Its the reason why you cant cry / It's a violent reaction / The mixtape in your heart / The answer that you should know / How we complicate, a simple mistake / Its the face you make when I go / CHORUS: And we tried to change / The city noise made us strange / So we plugged our ears and learned to fight / We set the stage but we could not engage so we cut all ties by candlelight / Change (x3) / Another deep depression / The calm before the storm / The shaking in your head / How you sacrificed - how you paid the price / All the words you wish you had said / Its the rawest of emotions / Drinking to forget - names written in the snow / Its the anxious feel - purging your last meal / Its the secret that you cant know / Chorus / Change (x8) / Chorus /
BAND-AID
COVERS THE BULLET HOLE <<
>> Scarling
* (Song
Added November 2005) The melancholy message is presented in a
cavity-inducing, sugary delivery, which makes it a little creepy
and even more fascinating.
Bees in the caramel and I'm not afraid / Surgeons make incisions / What a mess they've made / Tearing at my skin leaving knives in my brain / Stabbing at the voices making me insane / Girls vomit candy and lies that they're fed / Boys whisper lullabies and wet their beds / Eat TV violence on the toast that they spread / Talking with their mouths full here is what they've said / CHORUS: Say hello to my little friend / The world is getting ugly / And we did it again / Say hello to my little friend / The world is getting ugly / And we did it again / Ohh Uh Ohh / The band-aid only covers the bullet hole / Ohh uh ohh the band-aid only covers the bullet hole / La (x9) / Spinders in my hair and guns on my mind / Thinking about the people who've been so unkind / If looks could kill them / I might make myself blind / Startled at the reasons that I just can't find / Kids break the dishes they crash on the floor / Parents hate the noise and shove them out the door / Robots steal emotions hide them under their beds / It gets them all excited / Here is what they've said / Chorus / The band-aid only covers the bullet hole / La (x9) / Blah (x8) /
JOHNNY
FALLS <<
>> Hedley
* (Song
Added November 2005) This is a great song to sing along with when
you're in the kind of mood where you don't want to put up with
any bullshit from an idiot who doesn't deserve to poison you with
negativity. Hedley's frontman, Jacob Hoggard is a Canadian rock-and-roller
who has a distinctively sexy voice, outrageous personality, and
makes-you-weak-in-the-knees looks.
Johnny falls / He throws his hands / Into the air / Into these walls / He's freakin out / He's got a gun / He'll get his way / He'll have his fun / You make a mess / You bruise my name / Try to cut me down with every word you say / If you wreck my day (x2 ) / You son of a bitch you're gonna get some / CHORUS: And I'm tired / Of this stupid game / Running in circles from you again / Don't blame me / For what I gotta do / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Johnny runs / He shuts his eyes / He only sees / From nine to five / Don't let him down / He's got a gun / He'll get his way / He'll have his fun / All you wannabes / Don't have what it takes / To take a shot at me / To put me in my place / If you wreck my day (x2 ) / You son of a bitch you're gonna get some / Chorus / Don't push me / Don't blame me / Or you'll be sorry / You're not getting through / I'm gonna back down / As of right now / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Whoa (x3) / See me cry / See me smile / See me fall / See me cry / Yeah / Chorus / Don't push me / Don't blame me / Or you'll be sorry / You're not getting through / I won't back down / As of right now / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Whoa (x3) / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Whoa (x3) / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Whoa (x3) / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Whoa (x3) / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Whoa /
OTHER
SIDE OF THE WORLD <<
>> KT Tunstall
* (Song
Added August 2005) I came across this artist by accident, but it
was such a pleasant surprise. Her voice is sweet, yet it still
has a slight edge. This song is mellow-melancholy pop-rock. I'm
going to buy her album entitled "Eye to the Telescope."
I've heard only a few songs from her so far and this was the one
that really spoke to me. It would be extremely interesting if Emm
Gryner and KT Tunstall collaborated on a song. The brain-child of
their creative efforts would be no less than brilliance. Online
biographies on KT say that she is "a sparkling new
songwriter with Chinese blood, a Scottish heart, great legwarmers
and a cool name." I am Chinese/Scottish/Irish, so KT and I
might have something in common and that's neat, because the mix
is pretty uncommon.
Over the sea and far away / She's waiting like an Iceberg / Waiting to change / But she's cold inside / She wants to be like the water / All the muscles tighten in her face / Buries her soul in one embrace / They're one and the same / Just like water / CHORUS: Then the fire fades away / But most of everyday / Is full of tired excuses / But it's too hard to say / I wish it were simple / But we give up easily / You're close enough to see that / You're the other side of the world / To me / On comes the panic light / Holding on with fingers / And feelings alike / But the time has come / To move along / Chorus / Can you help me / Can you let me go / And can you still love me / When you can't see me anymore / Then the fire fades away / Most of everyday / Is full of tired excuses / But it's too hard to say / I wish it were simple / But we give up easily / You're close enough to see that / You're the other side of the world / Oh the other side of the world / You're the other side of the world / To me /
COME
ON EILEEN <<
>> Save Ferris
* (Song
Added August 2005) This song is beyond funktified craziness. It
starts out with a 'big band' sound with trumpets. How fun is that?
It's so catchy, with its ska style and changing tempo. I can't
stop humming this song and it is far from generic, contemporary
music.
Come on Eileen (x2) / Poor old Johnny Ray / Sounded sad upon the radio / He moved a million hearts in mono / Our mothers used to sing along / Who'd blame them / You're grown (So grown up) / So grown (so grown up) / Now I must say more than ever (come on Eileen) / Toora loora toora loo rye aye / And we can sing just like our fathers / CHORUS: Come on Eileen / Oh I swear what he means / At this moment, you mean everything / With you in that dress / Oh my thoughts I confess / Verge on dirty / Ah come on Eileen / Come on Eileen / These people 'round here wear beaten down eyes / Sunk in smoke dried faces / They're so resigned to what their fate is / But not us (no not us) / No not us (no never) / We are far too young and clever / Remember / Toora loora toora loo rye aye / Eileen I'll hum this tune forever / Toora loora toora loo rye aye / I'll hum this tune forever / Come on Eileen / Oh I swear (what he means) / Ah come on, let's take off everything / That pretty red dress / Oh I need to confess / Oh come on let's / Oh come on Eileen / Come on Eileen / Oh I swear what he means / At this moment you mean everything / Come on Eileen too loo rye aye (x2) / Toora toora too loo rye / Oh Eileen / I said come on Eileen / We are far too young and clever / Things won't ever change / Toora loora toora loo rye aye / Come on Eileen / Oh I swear what he means / At this moment you mean everything to mean / Oh to me / Whoa / Eileen / You mean everything /
VAMPIRES <<
>> Fastball
* (Song
Added June 2005) I love this song because it gives off such a
mystical, sensual vibe (at least it does for me). The lead singer's
voice is so sexy! It's an oldie and a goodie from the album
"The Harsh Light of Day."
She will bring a little box of moonlight / To light my way on such a very dark night / Dreams so real they grow wild on the vine / Until sundown, when she comes / She comes just like a daydream / And the sun surrenders to the evening / I've waited all day long to be with you girl / We'll burn like falling stars tonight / And hide like vampires from the daylight / Until sundown / Dreams so real they grow wild on the vine / We'll burn like falling stars tonight / And hide like vampires from the daylight / And our world comes alive at night / And like the stars, we'll shine so bright / As long as you are mine (x2) /
THINKING
IN REVERSE <<
>> The Dissociatives
* (Song
Added April 2005) I've been waiting for The Dissociatives' self-titled
album to be released to Canada for a year or so. At one point,
the imported version was available to purchase only at amazon.ca
for around $45 CDN!!! It was atrocious! I was waiting for the
longest time for the price to come down....and now, finally a
version has been released for Canadians and I got mine for around
$13.99 CDN from chapters.ca. You've gotta love the collaboration
between Silverchair's Daniel Johns and Paul Mac. The result is a
unique musical twist for your ears and your creativity. If you
feel like vomitting from the amount of mainstream music shoved
down your throats, this will be a welcome change. For a long time,
I've thought that Daniel Johns is a lyrical, musical genius!!!
Now that everything's in place / You're lining up the pins / And needles down the longest trail / You've got the answer but it lasts / As long as you can smile but pretty soon your cheeks will hurt / CHORUS: I'm not trying to make things worse / But you're thinking in reverse / Now that everything is never too much / I'm not trying to make things worse / But you're thinking in reverse / Now that everything is never too much / Take the standard line and turn / It back upon itself to see what hurt is once you've felt / 'Cuz we've been numb like corridors / And dry like tumbleweed / This hospital's my favourite church / Chorus / And I got it alright / To see what I can see is taking over me / And I got it alright / To see what I can see is taking over me / Chorus / I'm not trying to make things worse (repeated until end of song) /
WE'
RE MUCH PREFERRED CUSTOMERS <<
>> The Dissociatives
* (Song
Added April 2005) This song has such a space, out of this world
sound, punctuated with the voice of Daniel Johns that will
certainly give you goosebumps that only outstanding music can
give you.
We're much preferred customers / Welcome to planet pod / Where insects sound like lasers / And men who wear abrasive hats / With eyeballs judge like juries / And skin that flakes like ancient paint / Suffocate contentment / Birds creep over tin roofs / Like criminals with tap shoes / Stain the glass with windows / Extortionate and cold stare / We're much preferred customers / And honestly I don't care / You'll get a chance, another chance, one more sun (x8) / Drape the concrete curtains, over empty spaces / Age is just a number drawn on empty faces / Stain the glass with windows / Extortionate and cold stare / We're much preferred customers / And honestly I don't care / You'll get a chance, another chance, one more sun (x8) / Sun (x3) /
MARY <<
>> Scissor Sisters
* (Song
Added March 2005) Gee, I wonder why I like this song....*smirk*
Could it be because MY name is Mary AND it's a melodramatic love
song? I think so...hehe
I love the tone that's in your laugh / Gasping for an extra breath / Waiting for the time to pass / I believe in days ahead / Don't spend another night alone / Cross and wishing you were dead / CHORUS: Mary, you shouldn't let 'em make you mad / You hold the best you can / And Mary, after all the pain is gone / I'm always gonna live to be your man / I've had it easy now you see / When I'm down you're always there / Standing by to comfort me / Someday we'll go 'round the world / I'll make the journey so sublime / I know you're not a travelin' girl / Chorus / 'Cause I'd give everything I have / Forget all the things that bring me joy / If you could have one day / Pure and simple happiness / Until that moment comes / I'll be here where I've always been / I'm gonna be your friend / Until the day I die / Chorus / Hold on /
LET
ME GO <<
>> 3 Doors Down
* (Song
Added March 2005) This a good song for when you're feeling
melancholy. Of course, the bad thing is that this song can
intensify your gloom....
One more kiss could be the best thing / But one more lie could be the worst / And all these thoughts are never resting / And you're not something I deserve / In my head there's only you now / This world falls on me / In this world there's real and make believe / And this seems real to me / CHORUS: You love me but you don't know who I am / I'm torn between this life I lead and where I stand / And you love me but you don't know who I am / So let me go / Let me go / I dream ahead to what I hope for / And I turn my back on loving you / How can this love be a good thing / When I know what I'm going through / In my head there's only you now / This world falls on me / In this world there's real and make believe / And this seems real to me / Chorus / Just let me go / Let me go / And no matter how hard I try / I can't escape these things inside I know / I know / When all the pieces fall apart / You will be the only one who knows / Who knows / Chorus / Just let me go / And you love me but you don't / You love me but you don't / You love me but you don't know who I am / And you love me but you don't / You love me but you don't / You love me but you don't know me /
COLLIDE <<
>> Howie Day
* (Song
Added March 2005) This is a nice song of tragic, ambivalent
mellowness.
The dawn is breaking / A light shining through / You're barely waking / And I'm tangled up in you / Yeah / But I'm open, you're closed / Where I follow, you'll go / I worry I won't see your face / Light up again / Even the best fall down sometimes / Even the wrong words seem to rhyme / Out of the doubt that fills my mind / I somehow find / You and I collide / I'm quiet you know / You make a first impression / But I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind / Even the best fall down sometimes / Even the stars refuse to shine / Out of the back you fall in time / You somehow find / You and I collide / Don't stop here / I've lost my place / I'm close behind / Even the best fall down sometimes / Even the wrong words seem to ryhme / Out of the doubt that fills your mind / You finally find / You and I collide / You finally find / You and I collide / You finally find / You and I collide /
BREATHE <<
>> Moist
* (Song
Added January 2005) This is a beautiful melodramatic song.
Sometimes we all get in a sad rut and there's nothing that anyone
can do to bring us up in that particular time. Sometimes, we just
have to bring ourselves up.
Save / Save me from this / Wanderin' 'round the town / All the thousand things / I might miss / And you / Think we'll suffer much / Think we'll close our eyes / Just to see the light / Pass us by / With tomorrow comin' / Hope that I don't / Let you down again / Said I'm so glad to be here / Does it mean a thing / If only I could breathe / What you breathe / If only I could see what you see / So sit / We'll take our time / Watching the flowers grow / All the friends we've known / Say goodbye / And you / Did you suffer much / Did you close your eyes / Just to see the night / Rush on by / Gathered all around you / Hope that we don't / Let you down again / I said I'm so glad to be here / Does it mean a thing / If only I could breathe / What you breathe / If only I could see what you see / Said I'm so glad to be here / Does it mean a thing / If only I could breathe / What you breathe / If only I could see what you see / If only I could just believe a thing /
THE
REAL THING <<
>> Gwen Stefani
* (Song
Added January 2005) This reminds me of songs from the 1980s...and
I love the upbeat lyrics...Awwww.....it reminds me of my
boyfriend! *warm fuzzies*
I've seen your face a thousand times / Have all your stories memorized / I've kissed your lips a million ways / But I still love to have you around / I've held you too many times to count / I think I know you inside out / And we're together most days / But I still love to have you around / CHORUS: You're the one I want and it's not just a phase / And you're the one I trust / Our love is the real thing / Don't go away / My love (my love) / I want you to stay / In my life / Don't go away / My lover (my love) / I'm happiest when we spend time / You're a salty water ocean wave / You knock me down, you kiss my face / I know the storms will always come / But I still love to have you around / And Heaven knows what will come next / So emotional, you're so complex / A rollercoaster built to crash / But I still love to have you around / Chorus / (It's only you and I) x2 / It's you there when I close my eyes / And you in the morning / I never thought you'd still be mine / Or I'd really need to have you around / Don't go away / My love (my love) / I want you to stay / In my life / Don't go away / My lover (my love) / I need you, you're my love supply / Don't go away / My love (you're my love supply) / I want you to stay / In my life (every day, every night) / Don't go away / My love (you're my love supply) / I need you, you're my love supply /
THE
PHANTOM OF THE OPERA <<
>> Emmy Rossum & Gerard
Butler
* (Song
Added January 2005) I recently saw the major motion picture this
month and was blown away with the music and plot!
In sleep he sang to me / In dreams he came / That voice which calls to me / And speaks my name / And do I dream again / For now I find / The phantom of the opera is there / Inside my mind / Sing once again with me / Our strange duet / My power over you / Grows stronger yet / And though you turn from me / To glance behind / The phantom of the opera is there / Inside your mind / Those who have seen your face / Draw back in fear / I am the mask you wear / It's me they hear / My (Your) spirit and my (your) voice / In one combined / The phantom of the opera is there / Inside my (your) mind / Is that the phantom of the opera / Beware the phantom of the opera / Sing my angel of music / Sing my angel / Sing for me / Sing / Sing my angel / Sing for me /
SOMEBODY
TOLD ME <<
>> The Killers
* (Song
Added December 2004) This song is constantly playing in my head
and whenever it's on the radio, I find myself singing along with
the chorus. It's so damn catchy!
Breaking my back just to know your name / Seventeen tracks and I've had it with this game / I'm breaking my back just to know your name / But heaven ain't close in a place like this / Anything goes but don't blink, you might miss / 'Cause heaven ain't close in a place like this / I said heaven ain't close in a place like this / Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight / Never thought I'd let a rumour ruin my moonlight / CHORUS: Somebody told me you had a boyfriend / Who looked like a girlfriend / That I had in February of last year / It's not confidential, I've got potential / Ready let's roll onto something new / Takin' its toll and I'm leaving without you / I'm ready let's roll onto something new / Well heaven ain't close in a place like this / 'Cause heaven ain't close in a place like this / I said heaven ain't close in a place like this / Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight / Never thought I'd let a rumour ruin my moonlight / Chorus / Rushin' a rushin' around / Pace yourself for me / I said maybe, baby, please / But I just don't know now / When all I wanna do is try / Chorus / Rushin' a rushin' around / Chorus / Rushin' a rushin' around / Chorus / Rushin' a rushin' around /
LUXURIOUS <<
>> Gwen Stefani
* (Song
Added December 2004) I anxiously anticipated many of Gwen's songs
on her debut solo album, however was pretty disappointed with
many of the tracks. Of the small handful that I DID like, this
was one. The melody is so old-school....love it, although the
lyrics aren't her best.
CHORUS 1: Working so hard every night and day / And now we get the pay back / Trying so hard saving up the paper / Now we get to lay back / Working so hard every night and day / And now we get the pay back / The pay back (x2) / Champagne kisses hold me in your lap of luxury / I only want to fly first class desires, you're my limousine / So elegant the way we ride, our passion it just multiplies / There's platinum lightning in the sky / Look I'm livin' like a queen / CHORUS 2: This kind of love is getting expensive / We know how to live baby / We're luxurious like Egyptian cotton / We're so rich in love we're rollin' in cashmere / Got it in fifth gear baby / Diamond in the rough is lookin' so sparkly / Chorus 1 / Sugar, honey, sexy baby / When we touch it turns to gold / Sensitive and delicate, kinda like a tuberose / You know you are my treasure chest / It's pure perfection when we kiss and you're my Mr. I'm your Miss / Gonna be until we're old / Chorus 2 / Chorus 1 (x2) / Cha-ching (x2) / We're loaded and we're not gonna blow it / Cha-ching (x2) / We're hooked up with the love 'cause we grow it / Cha-ching (x2) / We got hydroponic love and we're smokin' / Cha-ching (x2) / We burn it you and I, we are so lit / We're so rich in love we're rollin' in cashmere / Got it in fifth gear baby / Diamond in the rough is lookin' so sparkly / Chorus 1 /
I
BLEED <<
>> Hedley
* (Song
Added November 2004) This group has a very interesting eclectic
sound and they're pretty flexible, being able to play many
different types of songs too. Of course, Jacob Hoggard (the lead
singer of the group) puts the stars in my eyes....hehehe.....*sigh*
Can't stand breathing this cold stale air / Can't stand to stand seeming and care / I was once a child like you seem / Free and beautiful carelessly / No, no, no, no / CHORUS: So forget what I said about me and tomorrow / I'm on top of this world and I don't need your sorrow / It's all me can't you see where I bleed / We're all human so you know where I go / For how long and how low / How long (x2) / Maybe reaching is that stronger / Maybe waiting seeming seems that longer / Simple little turns don't phase me / Simple little words amaze me / Chorus / Step right it up it's for free / So step right up / Defame me / So step right up / It's for free / So step right up / Defame me / Chorus (x2) /
MISTAKES
I MADE <<
>> Fran Lucci
* (Song
Added November 2004) I first heard this song while watching an
episode from my Felicity season 3 dvd set. This is such a sweet,
frail song....so much vulnerability.
It really is a miracle that I have come this far / Without a hope without a prayer without a guiding star / In spite of my nativity and many dreams betrayed / I know I would not be here now but for mistakes I made / CHORUS: But for mistakes I made / Who knows who I would be / Some other heart some other soul / Some other destiny / But for the times I took a wrong turn unafraid / I might have missed it all / But for mistakes I made / So many times I've tried to change things out of my control / The jealousy and all the rage that swallowed me up whole / The years that I spent loving those who did not feel the same / The times I didn't trust myself with only me to blame / Chorus / These things have taught me what is real / How to laugh how to cry how to love without regret and when to say hello or goodbye / I know whatever comes my way my dues have all been paid / For you would not be in my life, but for mistakes I made / Chorus / I might have missed it all / But for mistakes I made /
TROUBLED
TIMES <<
>> Fountains of Wayne
* (Song
Added September 2004) Whenever I feel sad, I listen to this song
and I sing along with it at the top of my lungs. This is one of
the best songs for wallowing.
When you think you've found something worth holding onto / Were you reaching for attention, hoping she would notice you / Collecting bottles and thrown-away cans / Like she was returnable / One day would refill your hands / How she loved you, all you imagined / Fit so well into your plans / CHORUS: Maybe one day soon / It'll all come out / How you dream about each other sometimes / With a memory of / How you once gave up / But you made it through the troubled times / Pining away every hour in your room / Rolling with the motion, waiting 'til it's opportune / Sitting there watching time fly past you / Why do tomorrow / What you could never do / How she loved you / All you imagined / All the shit you put her through / Chorus / And it takes a lot of nerve to ask how she is doing / Start with a weak foundation, you will end in ruins / The way the days and hours pass you'll never understand / Falling like rain through your hands / Chorus /
THE
CLOSEST THING TO CRAZY <<
>> Katie Melua
* (Song
Added September 2004) Katie has such a sweet, demure, angellic
voice. I don't know much about this artist. I saw the music video
for this song when I was flipping through the channels. What can
I say? Even though I listen to pretty much every single music
genre under the sun, I am a sucker for a good love song,
especially when it's slow. The melody is very soothing and calm (think
Dido- and Norah Jones-like and VERY mellow). It's definitely not
a song to dance wildly to wearing only your panties and a feather
boa. *Smirk* It's more the kind you listen to when you want to
daydream and reminisce about the love in your life or one from
the past.
How can I think I'm standing strong / Yet feel the air beneath my feet? / How can happiness feel so wrong? / How can misery feel so sweet? / How can you let me watch you sleep / Then break my dreams the way you do? / How can I have got in so deep? / Why did I fall in love with you? / CHORUS: This is the closest thing to crazy I have ever been / Feeling twenty-two, acting seventeen / This is the nearest thing to crazy I have ever known / I was never crazy on my own / And now I know that there's a link between the two / Being close to craziness and being close to you / How can you make me fall apart / Then break my fall with loving lies? / It's so easy to break a heart / It's so easy to close your eyes / How can you treat me like a child / Yet like a child I yearn for you? / How can anyone feel so wild? / How can anyone feel so blue? / Chorus / And being close to you / And being close to you /
DIRTY
WINGS <<
>> Megan Slankard
* (Song
Added August 2004) This singer isn't popular and I can't
understand why she isn't. She has such a beautiful voice and she
is an amazing songwriter. This is one of my favourite songs of
hers. It's so catchy.
"Those soles are comfort" / She said "that's credit card" / New shoes walking home / She don't own a car car car / She turns the lights off / Electric bill is high / She's glad Harry's out / 'Cause she hates to cry cry cry / Under these dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her fly / And under these dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her fly / "Give me some reasons not just enough is enough" / She pricks her skin / From thinking she could take too much / Just a damn fairy tale / She laughs outside / She cant keep it up / Sleeping girl has to close her eyes / Under these dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her fly / And under his dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her hide / The city sings like sirens / Is melting in the wind / Fading when it is exposed to sun / Turning on the shower / She is melting in the water / She is fading in the moonlight / Turning into mud / Under these dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her fly / And under these dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her fly / And under these dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her fly / Let her fly /
TOO
BAD YOU <<
>> Megan Slankard
* (Song
Added August 2004) As you can tell, I'm pretty excited about
Megan Slankard's music. I don't think I've ever been as excited
about an artist since I found out about Emm Gryner (who still is
my ultimate favourite artist). After bombarding myself with Megan's
music, I think that she comes in at a close second though. I
actually think that she has bumped Silverchair down to my third
favourite...and that is just incredible!!!!!!!
Its too bad Idont like you anymore / Yes its too bad / But my novel is gonna need an evil villain / Its too bad we kinda fell apart / We had somethin going / And I wonder what it ever was that happened / We were an experiment / To the neighbours, a little bet / To see how well and long youd last / Can you blame us? / Its too bad / You saw me naked / Too bad I love you / Dont mean anything / Ever again / CHORUS: Its too bad you / think youre so cool / As the raven tells you / Were never more / So whats the score? / And who wins? / Its too bad you think you look so good / Yeah you and Brad Pitt / But now I think youre just a little bit pretentious / Its too bad you hate the way I laugh / You think its phony / But sometimes this can be so damn / Hilarious / Its too bad / You saw me naked / Too bad I love you / Dont mean anything / Ever again / You never have problems, oh puhlease / Start expecting the police / Weve become that couple down the street / Can you blame us? /

BIRD <<
>> Megan Slankard
* (Song
Added August 2004) All three of these songs come from her latest
album entitled "Freaky Little Story." I ordered mine
through Amazon.ca and it was a reasonable price. I also ordered
her debut album "Lady is a Pirate." It should be really
good too.
If I were a mocking bird / Id mock you / In soft winds / And silent words / Id spot you / Like snow blushing in the sunlight / And Id melt you / Like morning into twilight / If I were a mocking bird / Would you chain me / In view of the endless sky world / From the window / Wind reaches, desperate, through the cage bars / To seize me / And Id die in your arms / But not your heart / If it please you / Fire flies and so do I / I fly high to hide in flight / Why, I delight in blue sky / Its almost like dying / Mocking bird / Id fly all around / Top of the world / And never come down / From here / If I were a mocking bird / Id give you feathers / And my very own blood / And other treasures / Which you keep on your dresser at night / In corner darkness / By the candle that you never light / Though it be moonless / Fire flies, so do I / I fly to hide in flight / Why, I delight in blue sky / Its so much, so much like dying / Against the tide / Id fly all around / With the wind / And never come down / From here / Fire flies, so do I / I fly high to hide in flight / I delight in windy sky / Its almost so much like dying / Fire flies, so do I / I fly high to ride like kites / Why, I delight in blue sky / It is almost so much like dying / If I were a mocking bird / Id fly all around / To the top of the world / And never come down / From here /
DON' T STAY <<
>> Linkin Park
* (Song
Added June 2004) Linkin Park has an eclectic sound and if you
like "heavier" music, you've gotta love Chester's voice.
Sometimes I need to remember just to breathe / Sometimes I need you to stay away from me / Sometimes I'm in disbelief, I didn't know / Somehow I need you to go / CHORUS: Don't stay / Forget our memories / Forget our possibilities / What you were changing me into / Just give me myself back and don't stay / Forget our memories / Forget our possibilities / Take all your faithlessness with you / Just give me myself back and don't stay / Sometimes I feel like I trusted you too well / Sometimes I just feel like screaming at myself / Sometimes I'm in disbelief, I didn't know / Somehow I need to be alone / Chorus / I don't need you anymore, don't want to be ignored / I don't need one more day, of you wasting me away / I don't need you anymore, I don't want to be ignored / I don't need one more day, of you wasting me away / With no apologies / Chorus / Don't stay (x2) /
FALL
TO PIECES <<
>> Avril Lavigne
* (Song
Added May 2004) I got over the novelty of her debut album a few
months after it was released, but I'm glad that I purchased her
latest album "Under My Skin." While I don't think that
her lyrics are THAT deep (if you want deep, abstract, and
artistic, check out Silverchair's "Diorama"), I do
think that she has grown as an artist. I enjoy this 2nd album of
hers much more than her first. While Avril says that this album
contains much darker material than her debut album, I think that
is somewhat exaggerated. Yes, her lyrics ellicit more complex
emotions, but the lyrics/music is far from dark. It really
depends on what you think "dark music" means. When I
think "dark", I think of the heavy sounds of Marilyn
Manson. To me, Avril Lavigne is still pop-rock, but more rock now
and less pop than before. This song was written by Avril Lavigne
and Raine Maida (lead singer of Our Lady Peace). Raine put so
much of his personal style into this song that I can actually
imagine him singing this song instead of Avril. Still though, she
does a good job at capturing the feeling. This song reminds me of
someone in particular.....*sigh*
I looked away / Then I looked back at you / You tried to say / Things that you can't undo / If I had my way / I'd never get over you / Today's the day / I pray that we make it through / Make it through the fall / Make it through it all / And / CHORUS: I don't want to fall to pieces / I just want to sit and stare at you / I don't want to talk about it / I don't want a conversation / I just want to cry in front of you / I don't want to talk about it / 'Cause I'm in love with you / You're the only one / I'd be with 'til the end / When I come undone / You bring me back again / Back under the stars / Back into your arms / And / Chorus / Want to know who you are / Want to know where to start / I want to know what this means / Want to know how you feel / Want to know what is real / I want to know everything, everything / Chorus (x2) / I'm in love with you / 'Cause I'm in love with you / I'm in love with you (x2) /
LOVE,
PAIN, AND THE WHOLE DAMN THING <<
>> Amy Sky
* (Song
Added May 2004) This is an old song that I remembered "discovering"
when I was in the tenth grade. I was browsing and came across it
and thought I'd give Amy Sky's self-titled album a listen. To my
surprise, I liked every song. Well, since high school, I haven't
listened to any of her songs, but I came across this one by
accident and it brought back so many great memories. I had to
post the lyrics up here. This is a GREAT song to sing along with
and vent out your frustrations. Another great song for venting is
"Bitch" by Meredith Brooks.
It's a little secret your friends won't tell / Heaven's highway sometimes takes you through hell / Love is work and work is hard / There are ghosts inside the dark / And it takes / CHORUS: Love, pain, the whole damn thing / If you want my heart you get everything / Love, pain, the whole damn thing / It's a crown of thorns to wear a golden ring / Love, pain, the whole damn thing / If you want my heart / You get everything / Cinderella walked upon broken glass / Sleeping beauty let a whole lifetime pass / Love is blood and sweat and tears / Love means facing all your fears / And you get / Chorus / Paradise ain't cheap / Heaven keeps us waiting / So baby wait with me / 'Cause if it's love we're making / I'll take it all / Can you take it all (x2) / 'Cause you get / Chorus / You get everything / You get love / You get pain / If you get love / Can you take the pain baby / Gotta give a something if you wanna get something back now / You gotta give a little something if you wanna get something back / You get everything / You get love (x3) /
FORGOTTEN <<
>> Avril Lavigne
* (Song
Added May 2004) This song, "Forgotten", reminds me a
lot of Alanis Morrissette in her Jagged-Little-Pill days. I think
those days were the highlight of Alanis' career. Anyway, this
song was written by Avril Lavigne and Chantel Kreviazuk. Who knew
that the two of them would make such a good pair?!
Ah (x8) / I'm giving up on everything / Because you messed me up / Don't know how much you screwed it up / You never listened / That's just too bad / Because I'm moving on / I won't forget / You were the one that was wrong / I know I need to step up and be strong / Don't patronize me / Yeah (x5) / CHORUS: Have you forgotten / Everything that I wanted / Do you forget it now / You never got it / Do you get it now / Yeah (x5) / Yeah (x5) / Ah (x8) / Gotta get away / There's no point in thinking about yesterday / It's too late now / It won't ever be the same / We're so different now / Yeah (x5) / Chorus / I know I wanna run away (x2) / Run away / If only I could run away (x2) / Run away / I told you what I wanted (x2) / What I wanted / But I was forgotten / I won't be forgotten / Never again / Chorus (x2) / Forgotten / Yeah (x3) / Forgotten / Yeah (x3) /
HOW
DOES IT FEEL <<
>> Avril Lavigne
* (Song
Added May 2004) This song has a calm catchy hook and of course
lots of people will be able to relate. This song was also written
by Avril Lavigne and Chantal Kreviazuk.
I'm not afraid of anything / I just need to know that I can breathe / I don't need much of anything / But suddenly, suddenly / I am small and the world is big / All around me is fast moving / Surrounded by so many things / But suddenly, suddenly / CHORUS: How does it feel to be / Different from me / Are we the same / How does it feel to be / Different from me / Are we the same / How does it feel / I am young and I am free / But I get tired and I get weak / I get lost and I can't sleep / But suddenly, suddenly / Chorus / Would you comfort me / Would you cry with me / Ah (x24) / I am small but the world is big / But I'm not afraid of anything / Chorus / How does it feel (x2) / You're different from me, different / How does it feel (x2) / You're different from me, different / How does it feel (x2) / You're different from me, different / How does it feel (x2) / You're different from me /

DOWN THE BARREL
<<
>> The Dissociatives
* (Song
Added May 2004) One of my favourite bands is Silverchair, so when
I found out that Daniel Johns was starting a new project with
Paul Mac called "The Dissociatives", I had to listen to
it. It's a world of difference from Silverchair's music, however,
this song is amazing in its own right. It is much more whimsical
and upbeat than Silverchair's songs. Of course, I'm the type of
person who thinks that Daniel Johns can do no wrong. With his
voice and amazing guitar talent, he's one of the few artists out
there whom I will follow musically.
Somewhere from the mortar / They saved you from far away labels / Eternity means nothing / But a sign on a bridge / When everyone's a stranger / They call for you by your first name / And laugh at jokes you once made / When you were a kid / Somewhere down the barrel / Lies a bullet that I can't keep / And in these waters I'm waiting for a reason / Afterall, it's in my head / I'm not a slave to a desperate lust / And in these waters I'm waiting for a reason afterall / Screaming limitations / Fall silent on New York corners / A terrorist's a prisoner and a tourist a thief / When paintings seem like bargains / But they're nothing but wallpaper / I'm plagued by small town fascists / Like a rash on my skin / Somewhere down the barrel / Lies a bullet that I can't keep and I've been searching for something more than distance / Afterall, it's in my head / I'm not a slave to an unborn trust / And in these waters I'm waiting for a reason afterall / Afterall (x2) / Na (repeat until end of song) /
THE
END <<
>> Emm Gryner
* (Song
Added May 2004) You should know by now that Emm Gryner is easily
in my top 5 list of favourite artists. This song is on her older
album, "Public", and it's one of my favourites. I'm so
excited!!! Emm is working on a new album. You can be sure I'll
buy it as soon as it's released. (Scroll down this page to see
more song lyrics by this talented Canadian artist)
Here comes the end of March / And I'm failing all the time / My love carved his name in me / Carefully but full of might / See my head spinning / As surely as the planets / Justify why should I / He'd never come to stand it / What is this / This foreign breath I'm lying with / Thieves are never sweet / CHORUS: Only the end (x2) / Only the end I'm dying through / Only the end (x2) / Give me trust and faith and all the things I had / I trade my blessings / For a way to open up / A toss up of meaning and / Hello care to make love / Give me punishment or say / I'm a normal girl / Some would say you just need to get through / You've got everything to learn / What is this / Hands that hold me differently / Thieves are never sweet / Chorus / Trust and faith and all the things I had (x2) / I kissed a marionette that didn't move / Stronger every day without you / Reached for a crown and it wasn't there / I got a fat sticky mess and I'm feeling pretty bare / Yeah I'm feeling pretty bare / I'm feeling pretty bare / That's what I feel / What is this and it's all mine / I'm stained all through my insides / Chorus / Trust and faith and all the things I had (x2) / Stained all through my insides / Through my insides (x2) /
BREATHE <<
>> Melissa Etheridge
* (Song
Added April 2004) I love the "roughness" and the in-your-face
power of Melissa's vocals. I also like her older song "Come
to My Window." These songs are great to sing, especially
when you want to relieve tension (at least this is how it is for
me)...
I played the fool today / I just dream of vanishing into the crowd / Longing for home again / Home / Is a feeling I buried in you / I'm alright (x2) / It only hurts when I breathe / And I can't ask for things to be still again / No I can't ask if I could walk through the world in your eyes / Longing for home again / Home / Is a feeling I buried in you / I'm alright (x2) / It only hurts when I breathe / I'm alright (x2) / It only hurts when I breathe / My window through which nothing hides / And everything sees / I'm counting the signs and cursing the miles in between / Home (x2) / Is a feeling I buried in you / That I buried in you / I'm alright (x2) / It only hurts when I breathe / I'm alright (x2) / It only hurts when I breathe / When I breathe / Yeah it only hurts when I breathe / When I breathe / Oh it only hurts when I breathe /
IF I
AIN' T GOT YOU
<<
>> Alicia Keys
* (Song
Added April 2004) I just love the smooth sound of her voice,
especially in this song. The chorus is simply amazing the way she
sings it.
Some people live for the fortune / Some people live just for the fame / Some people live for the power / Some people live just to play the game / Some people think that the physical things define what's within / And I have been there before and that life's a bore / So full of the superficial / CHORUS: Some people want it all / But I don't want nothing at all / If it ain't you baby / If I ain't got you baby / Some people want diamond rings / Some just want everything / But everything means nothing / If I ain't got you / Some people search for a fountain / That promises forever young / Some people need three dozen roses / And that's the only way to prove you love them / Hand me the world on a silver platter / And what good would it be / With no one to share with no one who truly cares for me / Chorus (x2) / If I ain't got you with me baby / Nothing in this whole wide world don't mean a thing / If I ain't got you with me baby /
IRIS <<
>> Goo Goo Dolls
* (Song
Added April 2004) I love this song for the "husky" and
raw vocals, guitar, and drums. This song has great significance
to me and everytime I hear it on the radio, it brings back fresh
memories in highschool, mostly good but some bad. The year this
song became popular was an exceptional year for me and I miss
those days, even though it really wasn't THAT long ago. *rolls
eyes*
And I'd give up forever to touch you / 'Cause I know that you feel me somehow / You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be / And I don't want to go home right now / And all I can taste is this moment / And all I can breathe is your life / 'Cause sooner or later it's over / I just don't want to miss you tonight / CHORUS: And I don't want the world to see me / 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand / When everything's made to be broken / I just want you to know who I am / And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming / Or the moment of truth in your lies / When everything feels like the movies / Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive / Chorus (x3) / I just want you to know who I am (x3) /
YOU
RAISE ME UP <<
>> Josh Groban
* (Song
Added April 2004) The first time I heard this song, I swear, I
got goosebumps! His voice is so rich and I just love the tone in
his voice.
When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary / When troubles come and my heart burdened be / Then, I am still and wait here in the silence / Until you come and sit awhile with me / CHORUS: You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains / You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas / I am strong, when I am on your shoulders / Chorus x3 /
STILL
SMILING <<
>> A Perfect Day
* (Song
Added April 2004) This song was so difficult to find for the
longest time. I almost thought that the group didn't exist,
because I couldn't find any information about them on the
internet ANYWHERE and even now, it's pretty hard too. Anyway, so
I finally found the song and decided that since it's so hard to
find the lyrics to this song anywhere and since many others have
probably also been searching for it, I decided to post up the
lyrics. I listened to the song and tried my best to be as
accurate as possible, but I could be wrong on some parts.
Life without happiness / Some people's will dying / When my train derails off the tracks / I'd rather be there than be flyin' / But it's just one of those things that tragedy brings that somehow makes me smile / CHORUS: Well it's rainin' in the hole / The sky's about to fall / Everything's all wrong but I'm still smiling / My best friend's out of work / My boyfriend's such a jerk / Makes me want to cry / But I'm still smiling / When it's all over everything / I think you need a remedy / Looks like you're walking on the wire / Well someone's pain is another's comedy / Someone else's water is like fire / We're all kids just having fun so stop me if you've heard this one / Chorus / I see smiling / Everywhere / In the faces of the old man / I hear laughter in the children / And it's our world of swirling contradictions maybe we won't get them / But it's raining in the hole / The sky's about to fall / Everything's all wrong but I'm still smiling / My best friend's out of work / My boyfriend's still a jerk / Makes me want to cry but I'm still smiling / It's cloudy in my head / I can't get out of bed / The radio is dead but I'm deceiving / The message is in code / But danger overloads / And the sisters fall awake but I'm still surviving / When it all over everything / I've run out of words to say / I'm still smiling /
BITCH <<
>> Meredith Brooks
* (Song
Added April 2004) This is a much older song, but it's still one
of my favourites. I love the way her voice sounds so ragged and
rebellious. I used to sing this song whenever I was having a bad
day or just felt awful and it would help me to release my
frustrations. Now I don't use this song as 'therapy' anymore (haha),
but I still enjoy singing it. There's something so addictive and
empowering about the message (if you don't mind one slightly
offensive word) and the melody. I know that some out there may be
offended by the word 'bitch', but relax...there are worse things
in this world....
I hate the world today / You're so good to me / I know but I can't change / Tried to tell you / But you look at me like maybe / I'm an angel underneath / Innocent and sweet / Yesterday I cried / Must have been relieved to see the softer side / I can understand how you'd be so confused / I don't envy you / I'm a little bit of everything / All rolled into one / CHORUS: I'm a bitch / I'm a lover / I'm a child / I'm a mother / I'm a sinner / I'm a saint / I do not feel ashamed / I'm your hell / I'm your dream / I'm nothing in between / You know you wouldn't want it any other way / So take me as I am / This may mean you'll have to be a stronger man / Rest assured that when I start to make you nervous / And I'm going to extremes / Tomorrow I will change and today won't mean a thing / Chorus / Just when you think you got me figured out / The season's already changing / I think it's cool you do what you do / And don't try to save me / Chorus / I'm a bitch / I'm a tease / I'm a goddess on my knees / When you hurt / When you suffer / I'm your angel undercover / I've been numb / I'm revived / Can't say I'm not alive / You know I wouldn't want it any other way /
ALL I
WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU <<
>> Mariah Carey
* (Song
Added December 2003) Many people have sung their own versions of
this classic holiday tune, but nobody and I mean NOBODY can sing
this song as incredibly as she can. This is a staple in my
holiday song collection and the other Christmas songs on her 1994
album "Merry Christmas" are also good, but this is my
favourite. Even when it's not Christmas, you'll want to listen to
this phenomenal voice singing away like a bird.
I don't want a lot for Christmas / There's just one thing I need / I don't care about presents / Underneath the Christmas tree / I just want you for my own / More than you could ever know / Make my wish come true / All I want for Christmas is you / I don't want a lot for Christmas / There is just one thing I need / I don't care about presents / Underneath the Christmas tree / I don't need to hang my stocking / There upon the fireplace / Santa Claus won't make me happy / With a toy on Christmas day / I just want you for my own / More than you could ever know / Make my wish come true / All I want for Christmas is you / You baby / I won't ask for much this Christmas / I won't even wish for snow / I'm just gonna keep on waiting / Underneath the mistletoe / I won't make a list and send it / To the North Pole for Saint Nick / I won't even stay awake to / Hear those magic reindeer click / 'Cause I just want you here tonight / Holding on to me so tight / What more can I do / Baby all I want for Christmas is you / You / All the lights are shining / So brightly everywhere / And the sound of children's / Laughter fills the air / And everyone is singing / I hear those sleigh bells ringing / Santa won't you bring me the one I really need / Won't you please bring my baby to me / Oh I don't want a lot for Christmas / This is all I'm asking for / I just want to see baby / Standing right outside my door / Oh I just want him for my own / More than you could ever know / Make my wish come true / Baby all I want for Christmas is you / All I want for Christmas is you baby (repeat while fading) /

this artist. This song is one of my long time favourites and Emm
Gryner is one of my favourite artists (easily on my Top 5 list)....This
is such a touching song with great lyrics.
All the world's on hold inside this room / I try to shine like a brand new star but it's hard to do / How famous do I have to be to see you again / How much money do I have to have to buy the end / CHORUS: I've got nothing to say and nothing to do / But hope I heal soon / 'Cause death is a new day / A new day without you / Seven here and midnight where you are / I never knew that easy feeling could make all this so hard / If I called you a dead man I might survive / Dancing to your favourite rock songs in my spare time / Every other thing that breathes goes up against you / They try to scrape you from my skin but they always lose / Chorus / As I close the door on you and end the crusade / I tell the pieces of you to go but I feel them stay / Chorus / I hope I heal soon / 'Cause death is a new day / A new day without you / Without you (x2) / Seven here and midnight / Still without you /
VANISHING <<
>> Mariah Carey
* (Song
Added December 2003) Scroll down the page to see more lyrics by
this artist. Here's an older song of hers off her self-titled
debut album from 1990. If you've only heard Mariah Carey's newer
songs, you're missing a lot. Go check out her older albums like
"Daydream" and "Music Box"....Now, THOSE were
her best songs ever, in my opinion, although her newer songs like
"Bringing on the Heartbreak" are pretty good too. Still
though, I think Mariah was in her prime back then. Her voice was
strong, not airy and whispery. When Mariah tries to belt out a
song, she CAN!!!!!! Listen to this song and you'll hear it!
If I could recapture / All of the memories / And bring them to life / Surely I would / Hear the distant laughter / Wasn't it you and me / Surviving the night / You're fading out of my sight / Swiftly / CHORUS: You're vanishing / Drifting away / You're vanishing / I was so enraptured / No sensibility / To open my eyes / I misunderstood / Now you're fading faster / It's suddenly hard to see / You're taking the light / Letting the shadows inside / Swiftly / Chorus / Reaching out into the distance / Searching for spirits of the past / Just a trace of your existence to grasp / And if somehow I could recapture / All of the memories / And bring them to life / Lord knows I would / But now you're fading faster / Getting so hard to see / Taking the light / Letting the darkness inside / Swiftly / Chorus /

Added December 2003) Scroll down to see more lyrics by this
artist. Anyway, this song is here because it sends a powerful
message to all of us to stay strong when times get tough. This
has such universal appeal and of course no one else could've
pulled off singing this tune than Miss Aguilera. She makes the
song memorable.
When they push , when they pull / Tell me, can you hold on / When they say you should change / Can you lift your head high and stay strong / Will you give up, give in / When your heart's crying out that it's wrong / Will you love you for you at the end of it all / CHORUS 1: Now in life, there's gonna be times when you're feeling low / And in your mind, insecurities seems to take control / We start to look outside ourselves for acceptance and approval / We keep forgetting that the one thing we should know is / CHORUS 2: Don't be scared to fly alone / Find a path that is your own / Love will open every door it's in your hands, the world is yours / Don't hold back and always know all the answers will unfold / What are you waiting for, spread your wings and soar / The boy who wonders is he good enough for them / Keeps tryin' to please 'em all but he just never seems to fit in / Then there's the girl who thinks she'll never ever be good enough for him / Keeps tryin' to change and that's a game she'll never win / Chorus 1 / Chorus 2 / In the mirror is where she comes face to face with her fears / Her own reflection now foreign to her after all these years / All of her life she has tried to be something besides herself / Now, time has passed and she's ended up someone else with regret / What is it in us that makes us feel the need to keep pretending / Gotta let ourselves be / Chorus 2 (x2) / Spread your wings and soar / What're you waiting for / Spread your wings and soar / So, what you waitin' for /

* (Song
Added November 2003) This actually isn't a new song. I heard this
many years ago while watching "Roswell" (that
television show with Jason Behr and Shiri Appleby). I like this
song because it's very relaxing and the melody is sweet and
gentle with a heart-felt message.
The pathway is broken and the signs are unclear / And I dont know the reason why you brought me here / But just because you love me the way that you do / Im gonna walk through the valley / If you want me to / Cause Im not who I was / When I took my first step / And Im clinging to the promise / Youre not through with me yet / So if all of these trials / Bring me closer to you / Then I will go through fire if you want me to / It may not be the way I would have chosen / When you lead me through a world thats not my home / But you never said it would be easy / You only said Id never go alone / You oooh oh / So when the whole world turns against me / And Im all by myself / And I cant hear you answer my cries for help / Ill remember the sufferin your love put you through / And I will go through the valley / If you want me to /

>> Sarah McLachlan
* (Song
Added November 2003) Back in highschool I never cared for her
music, but now, my musical tastes are broadening and I appreciate
her serene, angelic music. It's very relaxing, like Enya. I'm
thinking about purchasing her new album, "Afterglow",
when it comes out.
Heaven bent to take my hand / And lead me through the fire / Be the long awaited answer / To a long and painful fight / Truth be told I've tried my best / But somewhere along the way / I got caught up in all there was to offer / And the cost was so much more than I could bear / CHORUS: Though I've tried / I've fallen / I have sunk so low I have messed up / Better I should know / So don't come round here / And tell me I told you so / We all begin with good intent / Love was raw and young / We believed that we could change ourselves / The past could be undone / But we carry on our backs the burden / Time always reveals / The lonely light of morning / The wound that would not heal / It's the bitter taste of losing everything / That I have held so dear / Chorus / Heaven bent to take my hand / Nowhere left to turn I'm lost to those I thought were friends / To everyone I know / Oh they turned their heads embarassed / Pretend that they don't see / But it's one missed step / You'll slip before you know it / And there doesn't seem a way to be redeemed / Chorus (x2) /

YOU FEEL THE SAME <<
>> Silverchair
* (Song
Added September 2003) This song is from the group's older album,
"Neon Ballroom" (an album I highly recommend, among
many). As most of you know, I listen to almost all genres of
music and have numerous favourite artists, but Silverchair is
easily within my Top 10 favourites. Their melodies, lyrics, and
hehe...of course Daniel Johns' voice really are mind-blowing. I
love that their songs can sound hard or soft. They are very
artistic. I absolutely praise them for being lyrical geniuses (in
my opinion).....Wow, I love that line "Or would you just
read my spine".....(Side note: To see more lyrics of
Silverchair songs, scroll down the page...I have plenty listed)
Moon covered determined to find / To find my place of hiding / Try to detatch / Try to decrease / To make it easier on me / Despise myself for what you've done / Sent me back into my world / Hold yourself 'cause no one will / I'll make it easier / Now I have managed to be the one / To be the victim without the gun / Do you feel the same anyway / Now you've come / Do you feel the same anyway / Now you've come / Stay alert cause I'm obsessed / Surely I can't be depressed / Could I be read if I was see-through / Or would you just read my spine / Could I be read if I was see-through (x3) / Or would you just read my spine / Now I have managed to be the one / To be the victim without the gun / Do you feel the same anyway / Now you've come / Do you feel the same anyway / Now you've come / Do you feel the same / Feel the same / Now you've come / Do you feel the same anyway / Hold yourself cause no one will / I'll be there to take the spill / Cleanse your soul / Change the tide / And ride the wave back into me / Be the one / Without the gun / Do you feel the same anyway / Now you've come / Do you feel the same anyway / Now you've come / Do you feel the same / Feel the same / Now you've come / Do you feel the same anyway /

"Yellow", "Trouble", and "In My Place",
etc.), I "discovered" through their music videos.
Anyway, so just recently, I decided to purchase their 2 albums:
Their debut CD, "Parachutes" and their latest 2002
album, "A Rush of Blood to the Head". I must say that
both are masterpieces in my opinion. They have such mellow,
soothing, deep melodies and lyrics. Now I love all of their songs...amazing
group! I can't wait for their next album. This song "Green
Eyes" comes from their 2002 album and it's one of my
favourites. It's acoustic and I just love the sound of the "raw"
voice and the guitar....beautiful...For those who are fans of
Coldplay, especially when they sing acoustically, I highly
recommend Emm Gryner (another talented artist). You'll probably
love her mellow acoustic sounds too. (Side note: To see some Emm
Gryner lyrics, scroll down the page)
Honey you are a rock / Upon which I stand / And I came here to talk / I hope you understand / The green eyes / Yeah / The spotlight / Shines upon you / And how could anybody deny you / I came here with a load / And it feels so much lighter now I met you / And honey you should know / That I could never go on without you / Green eyes / Honey you are the sea / Upon which I float / And I came here to talk / I think you should know / The green eyes / You're the one that I wanted to find / And anyone who tried to deny you / Must be out of their mind / Because I came here with a load / And it feels so much lighter since I met you / Honey you should know / That I could never go on without you / Green eyes (x2) / Oh (x16) / Honey you are a rock / Upon which I stand /

SCIENTIST <<
>> Coldplay
* (Song
Added September 2003) Here is another Coldplay song that I love
for its overwhelming emotional aspect. This song makes you
reflect in a deeper sense, I think. The melody is delicate and
bittersweet. Gosh, I love Coldplay.
Come up to meet you / Tell you I'm sorry / You don't know how lovely you are / I had to find you / Tell you I need you / Tell you I set you apart / Tell me your secrets / And ask me your questions / Oh let's go back to the start / Running in circles / Coming up tails / Heads on a silence apart / Nobody said it was easy / It's such a shame for us to part / Nobody said it was easy / No one ever said it would be this hard / Oh take me back to the start / I was just guessing / At numbers and figures / Pulling your puzzles apart / Questions of science / Science and progress / Do not speak as loud as my heart / Tell me you love me / Come back and haunt me / Oh and I rush to the start / Running in circles / Chasing our tails / Coming back as we are / Nobody said it was easy / Oh it's such a shame for us to part / Nobody said it was easy / No one ever said it would be so hard / I'm going back to the start /
HEADSTRONG <<
>> Trapt
* (Song
Added August 2003) This is a GREAT song especially for when you
feel frustrated and want to release your anger through music. It
sends an I-take-no-BS message, which I love....straight to the
point and assertive.
Circling circling circling your head / Contemplating everything you ever said / Now I see the truth / I got doubt / A different motive in your eyes and now Im out / See you later / I see your fantasy / You want to make it a reality paved in gold / See inside / Inside of our heads (yeah) / Well now thats over / I see your motives inside / Decisions to hide / CHORUS: Back off I'll take you on / Headstrong to take on anyone / I know that you are wrong / Headstrong were headstrong / Back off I'll take you on / Headstrong to take on anyone / I know that you are wrong and this is not where you belong / I cant give everything away / I wont give everything away / Conclusions manifest / Your first impressions got to be your very best / I see youre full of shit / And thats alright / Thats how you play / I guess youll get through every night / Well now thats over / I see your fantasy / You want to make it a reality paved in gold / See inside / Inside of our heads (yeah) / Well now thats over / I see your motives inside / Decisions to hide / Chorus / I know, I know all about (x3) / I know / I know all about your motives inside / And your decision to hide / Chorus /
BRINGIN'
ON THE HEARTBREAK <<
>> Mariah Carey
* (Song
Added August 2003) Mariah did a wonderful job at revamping Def
Leppard's song....She has an outstanding voice as we all know,
even if some don't admit it.....WOW, a 5-octave range......The
music video for this song seems to remind me of a Shakira music
video though....(which is really strange)
Gypsy, sittin' lookin' pretty / A broken rose and laughin' eyes / You're a mystery / Always runnin' wild / Like a child without a home / You're always searchin' / Searchin', searchin' for a feelin' / But it's easy come and easy go / Oh / I'm sorry but it's true / You're bringin' on the heartache / Takin' all the best of me / Oh can't you see / You got the best of me / Whoa can't you see / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / Can't you see / Oh you're such a secret / Misty eyed and shady / Baby, how you hold the key / Oh you're like a candle / Your flame slowly fadin' / Burnin' out and burnin' me / Can't you see / Just tryin' to say to you / You're bringin' on the heartache / Takin' all the best of me / Oh can't you see / You got the best of me / Oh can't you see / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / Can't you see (x2) / No (x3) / You got the best of me / Oh can't you see / You got the best of me / Oh can't you see / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / You're bringin' on the heartbreak /
SWING
SWING <<
>> The All-American Rejects
* (Song
Added August 2003) This song is really catchy. I can't seem to
get it out of my head...and the radio keeps overplaying it (what
else is new?)....
Days swiftly come and go / I'm dreaming of her / She's seeing other guys / Emotions they stir / The sun is gone / The nights are long / And I am left while the tears fall / CHORUS: Did you think that I would cry on the phone / Do you know what it feels like being alone / I'll find someone new / Swing, swing, swing from the tangles of / My heart is crushed by a former love / Can you help me find a way / To carry on again / Wish cast into the sky / I'm moving on / Sweet beginnings do arise / She knows I was wrong / The notes are old / They bend / They fold and so do I to a new love / Chorus / Bury me (you thought your problems were gone) / Carry me / Away (x3) / Swing, swing, swing from the tangles of / My heart is crushed by a former love / Can you help me find a way / To cary on again / Swing, swing, swing from the tangles of / My heart is crushed by a former love / Can you help me find a way / To carry on again /
WHERE
IS THE LOVE <<
>> Black Eyed Peas (featuring
Justin Timberlake)
* (Song
Added August 2003) First of all I have to say that I am NOT a
Justin Timberlake fan. Most times I cannot stand him, so it
really surprised me when I heard this song and found that he had
a part in it. The funny thing about it is that when I first heard
it, I thought the high-pitched voice was a female, but of course
it turned out to be none other than former Nsync boyband member,
Justin. Oh well, the reason I like it is for the message and the
beat is really catchy (but ESPECIALLY the chorus).
What's wrong with the world mama / People livin' like they ain't got no mamas / I think the whole world addicted to the drama / Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma / Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism / But we still got terrorists here livin' / In the USA, the big CIA / The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK / But if you only have love for your own race / Then you only leave space to discriminate / And to discriminate only generates hate / And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah / Badness is what you demonstrate / And that's exactly how anger works and operates / You gotta have love just to set it straight / Take control of your mind and meditate / Let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all / CHORUS: People killin', people dyin' / Children hurt and you hear them cryin' / Can you practice what you preach / And would you turn the other cheek / Father, Father, Father help us / Send us some guidance from above / 'Cause people got me, got me questionin' / Where is the love (Love) / Where is the love (The love) / Where is the love (The love) / Where is the love / The love, the love / It just ain't the same, always unchanged / New days are strange, is the world insane / If love and peace is so strong / Why are there pieces of love that don't belong / Nations droppin' bombs / Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones / With the ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young / So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone / So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong / In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin' in / Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends / Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother / A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover / The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug / If you never know truth then you never know love / Where's the love, y'all, come on (I don't know) / Where's the truth, y'all, come on (I don't know) / Where's the love, y'all / Chorus / I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder / As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder / Most of us only care about money makin' / Selfishness got us followin' our own direction / Wrong information always shown by the media / Negative images is the main criteria / Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria / Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema / Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity / Whatever happened to the fairness in equality / Instead in spreading love we spreading animosity / Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity / That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' under / That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' down / There's no wonder why sometimes I'm feelin' under / Gotta keep my faith alive to lovers bound / Chorus / Where is the love (Love) x2 /

WHEN WE TOUCH <<
>> Dan Hill
* (Song
Added July 2003) One of the truly classic love songs of all time.
I am always a sucker for these types. Note: "Fifth Avenue"
does a great re-make of this song and it's worth checking out!
You ask me if I love you / And I choke on my reply / I'd rather hurt you honestly / Than mislead you with a lie / And who am I to judge you / On what you say or do / I'm only just beginning / To see the real you / CHORUS: And sometimes when we touch / The honesty's too much / And I have to close my eyes and hide / I wanna hold you 'til I die / 'Til we both break down and cry / I wanna hold you 'til the fear in me subsides / Romance and all its strategy / Leaves me battling with my pride / But through the insecurity / Some tenderness survives / I'm just another writer / Still trapped within my truths / A hesitant prizefighter / Still trapped within my youth / Chorus / At times I'd like to break you / And drive you to your knees / At times I'd like to break through / And hold you endlessly / At times I understand you / And I know how hard you've tried / I've watched while love commands you / And I've watched love pass you by / At times I think we're drifters / Still searching for a friend / A brother or a sister / But then the passion flares again / Chorus /

* (Song
Added July 2003) This is the 12th track on her new album "Hotel
Paper", which I bought when it came out. This is my
favourite song from this CD, aside from the last track, "It's
You". I also really love how she incorporated the French
language into her lyrics.
Everytime I feel alone / I can blame it on you / And I do / Oh / You got me like a loaded gun / Golden sun and sky so blue / Oh / We both know that we know it / That we both know you left me no choice / CHORUS: (Chaque fois que tu ton va) / You just bring me down / (Je pretend que tu fois bien) / So I'm counting my tears 'til I get over you / Sometimes I watch the world go by / I wonder what it's like / To wake up every single day / Smile on your face / You never tried / We both know we can't change it / But we both know we'll just have to face it / Chorus / If only I could give you up / Would I want to let you off of this soapbox baby / We both know that we want it / But we both know you left me no choice / Chorus / We both know that I'm not over you / I'm not over you /
A
COMPLICATED SONG <<
>> Weird Al Yankovic
* (Song
Added June 2003) As much as I like Avril's songs, I also like
parodies, especially when they are as clever as this. Reading the
lyrics alone may not sound so great. I suggest downloading the
song so you can hear it. It's much funnier that way. Or, if you
can sing decently, sing these lyrics to Avril's tune of "Complicated".......it's
a riot, even if it's pretty immature...hehe
Uh huh / Extra cheese / Uh huh (x2) / Save a piece for me / Pizza party at your house / I went just to check it out / Nineteen extra larges / What a shame / No one came / Just us eatin' all alone / You said, "Take the pizza home" / "No sense lettin' all this go to waste" / So then I faced / Pizza all day / And every day / This cheese 'round the clock / Is gettin' me blocked / And I sure don't care / For irregularity / Tell me / Why'd you have to go and make me so constipated / 'Cause right now I'd do anything to just get my bowels evacuated / In the bathroom / I sit and I wait and I strain / And I sweat and I clench and I feel the pain / Oh should I take laxatives or have my colon irrigated / No (x3) / I was feelin' pretty down / 'Till my girlfriend came around / We're just so alike in every way / I gotta say / In fact I just thought I might / Pop the question there that night / I was kissing her so tenderly / But woe is me / Who would have guessed / Her family crest / I'd suddely spy / Tattooed on her thigh / And son-of-a-gun / It's just like the one on me / Tell me / How was I supposed to know we were both related / Believe me if I knew she was my cousin we never would have dated / What to do now / Should I go ahead and propose / And get hitched and have kids with eleven toes / And move to Alabama where that kind of thing is tolerated / No (x7) / No (x12) / I had so much on my mind / I thought maybe I'd unwind / Try out that new roller coaster ride / And the guide / Said not to stand / But that's a demand / That I couldn't meet / I got on my feet / And stood up instead / And knocked off my head, you see / Tell me / Why'd I have to go and get myself decapitated / This really is a major inconvenience / Oh man I really hate it / Such a drag now / Can't eat I can't breathe I can't snore / I can't belch or yodel anymore / Can't spit or blow my nose or even read Sports Illustrated / Oh no / Why'd I have to go and get myself all mutilated (yeah, yeah) / I gotta tell ya life without a head kinda makes me irritated / What a bummer / Can't blink, I can't cough, I can't sneeeze / But my neck is enjoyin' a pleasant breeze now / Haven't been the same since my head and I were separated / No (x3) /

HOLIDAY <<

* (Song
Added June 2003) Haha, I bet you thought that you'd never be
seeing these lyrics here in a million years. Well, I have news
for you....I like Mary Poppins and I LOVE this song. Why? For one
thing, whenever I'm feeling a tad under the weather, all I have
to do is listen to this song and it's like insta-cheer. I can't
listen to this song without smiling and giggling (like a giddy
little girl). Plus, it also helps how my name (Mary) is the focus
and the song is about just how wonderful I am.......*Smirk*........haha.......It's
a silly goofy little song, but it always does the trick for me
and so, I decided it was fine time I give it a spot on this page.
Ain't it a glorious day / Right as a mornin' in May / I feel like I could fly / Have you ever seen the grass so green / Or a bluer sky / Oh it's a jolly holiday with Mary / Mary makes your heart so light / When the day is gray and ordinary / Mary makes the sun shine bright / Oh happiness is bloomin' all around her / The daffodils are smilin' at the dove / When Mary holds your hand you feel so grand / Your heart starts beatin' like a big brass band / It's a jolly holiday with Mary / No wonder that it's Mary that we love / CHORUS: Oh it's a jolly holiday with Mary / Mary makes your heart so light / When the day is gray and ordinary / Mary makes the sun shine bright / Oh happiness is bloomin' all around her / The daffodils are smilin' at the dove / When Mary holds your hand you feel so grand / Your heart starts beatin' like a big brass band / It's a jolly holiday with Mary / No wonder that it's Mary that we love / Now then what'd be nice / We'll start with raspberry ice / And then some cakes and tea / Order what you will / There'll be no bill / It's complimentary / Oh, it's a jolly holiday with you, Bert / Gentlemen like you are few / Though your just a diamond in the rough, Bert / Underneath your blood is blue / You'd never think of pressing your advantage / Forbearance is the hallmark of your creed / A lady needn't fear when you are near / Your sweet gentility is crystal clear / Oh it's a jolly holiday with you Bert / A jolly, jolly holiday with you / It's true that Mavis and Sybil have ways that are winning / And Prudence and Gwendolyn set your heart spinning / Phoebe's delightful, Maude is disarming / Janice, Felicia, Lydia - charming / Cynthia's dashing, Vivian's sweet / Stephanie's smashing, Priscilla a treat / Veronica, Millicent, Agnes, and Jane / Convival company, time and again / Drocas and Phyllis and Glynis are sorts / I'll agree are three jolly good sports / But cream of the crop, tip of the top / It's Mary Poppins, and there we stop /
SHOULDA
WOULDA COULDA <<
>> Brian McKnight
* (Song
Added June 2003) Of course I posted these lyrics because I love
the song and Brian's voice, but also this song sends a good
message that you should never take anyone for granted. They might
not always be there for you and when you realize this, you'll
kick yourself in the butt, knowing that you should've, would've,
and could've done things much differently and showed the person
that you really cared. Occasionally, we're all guilty of not
appreciating the people we love the most. Sometimes you can lose
someone you cherish through neglect.
Alright / Yeah / Listen / Baby can you put them bags down / Just wait hold on for a minute / Gotta say a couple things before you go / Even though I know that we're finished / I don't want you to leave without knowin' / Just where I'm comin' from / Babe I just wanna say I made a big mistake / And now I gotta face the fact that I / CHORUS: Shoulda been a better man / The kinda man that you needed / Woulda been better off / If I done right by you / I coulda done this / I coulda done that / But I know I can't go back / 'Cause now it's just too late / I'm sayin' shoulda woulda coulda / Yeah / I can tell by the look on your face / You ain't tryin' to hear what I'm sayin' / Maybe you done heard all of this before / To her this ain't no game that I'm playin' / This may be the last chance I'll ever have / To talk to you before you go / So I gotta say I made a big mistake / Girl you know it's killin' me that I / Chorus / Yeah / I should have done my best to love you baby / I should have placed no one above you / And now it's killin' me more than you know / Letting you go that's why I / Girl I know that I shoulda / Shoulda been a better man (Coulda been a better man to you baby) / The kinda man that you needed (Shoulda been there for you every time you needed me) / Woulda been better off (Every time you called me) / If I done right by you (And you know that I coulda done this) / I coulda done this / I coulda done that (Coulda done that yeah) / But I know I can't go back (You know I can't go back baby) / 'Cause now it's just too late (All I know need to know is girl all I need to know is) / I'm sayin' shoulda woulda coulda / Yeah (Do you love me like you used to baby) / I know I shoulda / Yeah I know I woulda / Yeah (All the things I coulda done) / I know I coulda been a better man (All the things I shoulda done) / Said I shoulda woulda coulda / Yeah (Sayin' shoulda woulda coulda yeah) I know I shoulda / Yeah (Yeah) I know I woulda / Yeah (Coulda woulda shoulda) / I know I coulda been a better man / Said I shoulda woulda coulda / Yeah (Yeah) /

love this new single, but I also loved his other hits "Always"
and "Bed of Roses"....
Looking at the pages of my life / Faded memories of me and you / Mistakes you know I've made a few / I took some shots and fell from time to time / Baby / You were there to pull me through / We've been around the block a time or two / I'm gonna lay it on the line / Ask me how we've come this far / The answer's written in my eyes / CHORUS: Every time I look at you / Baby I see something new / That takes me higher than before and makes me want you more / I don't wanna sleep tonight / Dreamin's just a waste of time / When I look at what my life's been comin' to / I'm all about lovin' you / I've lived / I've loved / I've lost / I've paid some dues baby / We've been to hell and back again / Through it all you're always my best friend / For all the words I didn't say and all the things I didn't do / Tonight I'm gonna find a way / Chorus / You can take this world away / You're everything I am / Just read the lines upon my face / I'm all about lovin' you (x2) / Chorus / All about lovin' you /

* (Song
Added June 2003) Another artist with classic romantic ballads. I
still love "You're Still the One", "You've Got A

I didn't care much for her techno-inspired "I'm Gonna Getcha
Good" music video (or the song) though....Anyway...so here I
am promoting some Canadian talent.....hehe....O CANADA!!!!!!!!!!
I can feel your heart beat now / I can really feel it now / In your arms I can still feel the way you / want me when you hold me / I can still hear the words you whispered / When you told me / I can stay right here forever in your arms / And there ain't no way / I'm lettin' you go now / And there ain't no way / And there ain't no how / I'll never see that day / CHORUS: 'Cause I'm keeping you / Forever and for always / We will be together all of our days / Wanna wake up every morning to your sweet face / Always / Mmmm baby / In your heart I can still hear a beat for every time you kiss me / And when we're apart / I know how much you miss me / I can feel your love for me in your heart / And there ain't no way / I'm lettin' you go now / And there ain't no way / And there ain't no how / I'll never see that day / Chorus / (I wanna wake up every morning) / In your eyes (I can still see the look of the one) I can still see the look of the one who really loves me / (I can still feel the way that you want) The one who wouldn't put anything else in the world above me / (I can still see love for me) I can still see love for me in your eyes / And there ain't no way / I'm lettin' you go now / And there ain't no way / And there ain't no how / I'll never see that day / Chorus (x2) / I'm keeping you forever and for always / I'm in your arms /

>> Martika
* (Song
Added May 2003) Undoubtedly some of the best music came from the
1980's. Here is a goodie from the late eighties...Hehe...I was
just a toddler when this song came out. I haven't heard it in a
long time now, but yesterday when I was flipping through the
channels on television, I saw the music video for it and it re-ignited
my love for all things 80's. This is one of the great songs from
the decade. Like I always say, I am a huge sucker for songs about
love, heartache, loss - yeah, all those mushy songs...hehe....
It wasn't my intention to mislead you / It never should have been this way / What can I say / It's true / I did extend the invitation / I never knew how long you'd stay / When you hear temptation call / It's your heart that takes / Takes the fall / (Won't you come out and play with me) / CHORUS: Step by step / Heart to heart (heart to heart) / Left right left / We all fall down (fall down) / Like toy soldiers / Bit by bit (bit by bit) / Torn apart (torn apart) / We never win but the battle rages on / For toy soldiers / It's getting hard to wake up in the morning / My head is spinning constantly / How can it be (how can it be) / How could I be so blind to this addiction / If I don't stop / The next one is gonna be me / Only emptiness remains / It replaces all of the pain / (Won't you come out and play with me) / Chorus / We never win / Only emptiness remains / It replaces all of the pain / (Won't you come out and play with me) / Chorus /

Added May 2003) Here's another 1980's song to bring back some
nostalgia....Enjoy!
CHORUS: Ooh baby / Do you know what that's worth / Ooh heaven is a place on earth / They say in heaven love comes first / We'll make heaven a place on earth / Ooh heaven is a place on earth / When the night falls down / I wait for you and you come around / And the world's alive / With the sound of kids on the street outside / When you walk into the room / You pull me close and we start to move / And we're spinning with the stars above / And you lift me up in a wave of love / Chorus / When I feel alone / I reach for you and you bring me home / When I'm lost at sea / I hear your voice and it carries me / In this world we're just beginning / To understand the miracle of living / Baby I was afraid before / But I'm not afraid anymore / Chorus / In this world we're just beginning / To understand the miracle of living / Baby I was afraid before / But I'm not afraid anymore / Chorus / Ooh heaven is a place on earth (repeat until fade) /

>> Bonnie Raitt
* (Song
Added May 2003) This classic song is so calming and heart-felt.
The truth in the lyrics really gets to me. The melody and lyrics
are beautiful. We've all felt this way about someone before. That's
what makes this song so universal.
Turn down the lights / Turn down the bed / Turn down these voices inside my head / Lay down with me / Tell me no lies / Just hold me close / Don't patronise (x2) / 'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't / You can't make your heart feel something it won't / Here in the dark in these final hours / I will lay down my heart / And I feel the power / But you won't / No you won't / 'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't / I'll close my eyes / Then I won't see / The love you don't feel when you're holding me / Mornin' will come and I'll do what's right / Just give me 'till then to give up this fight / And I will give up this fight / 'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't / You can't make your heart feel something it won't / Here in the dark in these final hours / I will lay down my heart / And I feel the power / But you won't / No you won't / 'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't /

great duet? I sure didn't. Wow, but when I heard the song months
ago, I couldn't stop thinking how great they sound together.
Livin' my life in a slow hell / Different girl every night at the hotel / I ain't seen the sun shine in 3 damn days / Been fuelin' up on cocaine and whisky / Wish I had a good girl to miss me / Lord I wonder if I'll ever change my ways / I put your picture away / Sat down and cried today / I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to her / I put your picture away / Sat down and cried today / I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to her / I called you last night in the hotel / Everyone knows but they won't tell / But their half-hearted smiles tell me / Somethin' just ain't right / I've been waitin' on you for a long time / Fuelin' up on heartaches and cheap wine / I ain't heard from you in 3 damn nights / I put your picture away / I wonder where you've been / I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to him / I put your picture away / I wonder where you've been / I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to him / I saw you yesterday with an old friend / It was the same ole same "how have you been" / Since you've been gone my world's been dark and grey / You reminded me of brighter days / I hoped you were comin' home to stay / I was head of the church / I was off to drink you away / I thought about you for a long time / Can't seem to get you off my mind / I can't understand why we're living life this way / I found your picture today / I swear I'll change my ways / I just called to say I want you to come back home / I found your picture today / I swear I'll change my ways / I just called to say I want you to come back home / I just called to say I love you / Come back home /

* (Song
Added April 2003) I only heard this song once and it was when a
television station played their music video. I thought this song
was really touching. It's open for a wide range of interpretation.
Even though the lyrics are almost simplistic, I got a deeper
meaning out of it. I love when song lyrics allow for abstract
thoughts.
How can you see into my eyes / Like open doors / Leading you down into my core / Where I've become so numb / Without a soul / My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold / Until you find it there and lead it back home / CHORUS: Wake me up / Wake me up inside / I can't wake up / Wake me up inside / Save me / Call my name and save me from the dark / Wake me up / Bid my blood to run / I can't wake up / Before I come undone / Save me / Save me from the nothing I've become / Now that I know what I'm without / You can't just leave me / Breathe into me and make me real / Bring me to life / Chorus / Bring me to life / I've been living a lie / There's nothing inside / Bring me to life / Frozen inside without your touch / Without your love darling / Only you are the life among the dead / All of this sight / I can't believe I couldn't see / Kept in the dark / But you were there in front of me / I've been sleeping a 1000 years it seems / I've got to open my eyes to everything / Without a thought / Without a voice / Without a soul / Don't let me die here / There must be something wrong / Bring me to life / Chorus / Bring me to life / I've been living a lie /There's nothing inside / Bring me to life /
CONCRETE
ANGEL <<
>> Martina McBride
* (Song
Added April 2003) Martina has such a pure, strong voice. I liked
this song in particular because it deals with an important issue,
namely child abuse. A very powerful message she's addressing...
She walks to school with the lunch she packed / Nobody knows what she's holdin' back / Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday / She hides the bruises with linen and lace / The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask / It's hard to see the pain behind the mask / Bearing the burden of a secret storm / Sometimes she wishes she was never born / CHORUS: Through the wind and the rain / She stands hard as a stone / In a world that she can't rise above / But her dreams give her wings / And she flies to a place where she's loved / Concrete angel / Somebody cries in the middle of the night / The neighbours hear but they turn out the lights / A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate / When morning comes it'll be too late / Chorus / A statue stands in a shaded place / An angel girl with an upturned face / A name is written on a polished rock / A broken heart that the world forgot / Chorus /
YOU
THOUGHT WRONG <<
>> Kelly Clarkson and Tamyra
Gray
* (Song
Added April 2003) This is an empowering song for women,
especially those who've had the unfortunate experience of being
cheated on by a stupid guy who didn't deserve their time to begin
with. This is for all of you out there...This is my favourite
song off Kelly Clarkson's new "Thankful" album that
comes out on April 15th.
I see how you're trying to / Weasel your way in my life / Know how you maneuver / With your / Your confusion / You tell me that I'm your only / And how bad that you want me / Then why are you so shady / If I'm suppose to be your lady / CHORUS: Why should I believe anything you say / And how could you shame me that way / Tell me where'd / Where'd you get the nerve / To even think that you / You could play me boy / You thought we didn't know / You thought we were in the dark / But boy you got us wrong / 'Cause we both know now / You thought you had us fooled / At your beck and call / But now who's the joke / And look who's laughing now / Now you're trying to use us / Against one another but it won't work / I see right through your game boy / And I know exactly what I'm waiting for / You / You tried to deny all your actions / For once in your life be a real man / At least give me the proper respect of the truth / 'Cause I already know you did it / Chorus / I see right through you baby / Tried to take me you owe me / Why can't you just get it through your thick head / 'Cause I seen this game before / Now it's time for you to go so / Shut your mouth / I'm not trying to hear your lies so let it go / Sorry you couldn't be a better man / No (x5) / You thought we didn't know / You thought we were in the dark / But boy you got us wrong / 'Cause we both know now / You thought you had us fooled / At your beck and call / But now who's the joke / And look who's laughing now / Guess you thought wrong / Look who's laughing now /
I
ONLY WANTED <<
>> Mariah Carey
* (Song
Added April 2003) This one is such a romantic song. I love the
melody and the lyrics. As usual, Mariah Carey's songs get to me.
What an amazing voice.
Doesn't it ever stay / Must it always fade away / Couldn't love ever be / Something tangible and real / Farewell fairweather friend / Abandonment returns to taunt me again / CHORUS: I only wanted you to stay / Linger and mean the words you said / Foolishly I romanticized / Someone was saving my life / For the first time / I only wanted you to be there when I / Opened up my eyes / I was caught in your masquerade / Wish I'd stayed beneath my veil / But it just seemed so easy to / Open up myself to you / Once more into the wind / The embers scatter / And the chill settles in / Chorus / Oh / I only wanted you to stay / Linger and mean the words you said / Foolishly I romanticized / Someone was saving my life / For the first time / I only wanted you to be / The one to get me through that night / I only wanted you / To be there when I / Opened up my eyes / Oh / Doesn't it ever stay / I only wanted you to / Stay /
THE
TROUBLE WITH LOVE <<
>> Kelly Clarkson
* (Song
Added April 2003) Yep, another love song. I am a sucker for them.
This song is so true. I've said it before and I'm gonna say it
again: Kelly Clarkson reminds me SO MUCH of Mariah Carey in her
earlier years. Wow! Her vocal range is phenomenal! Also, Kelly
Clarkson reminds me a bit of Christina Aguilera (another highly
talented artist).
Love can be a many splendid thing / Can't deny the joy you bring / A dozen roses / Diamond rings / Dreams for sale / And fairy tales / Itll make you hear a symphony / And you just want the world to see / But like a drug that makes you blind / Itll fool you every time / CHORUS: The trouble with love is / It can tear you up inside / Make your heart believe a lie / Gets stronger than your pride / The trouble with love is / It doesnt care how fast you fall / And you cant refuse the call / See youve got no say at all / Now I was a once a fool its true / I played the game by all the rules / But now my worlds a deeper blue / Im sadder but Im wiser too / I swore Id never love again / I swore my heart would never mend / Said love wasnt worth the pain / But then I hear it call my name / Chorus / Every time I turn around / I think Ive got it all / Got it all / My heart keeps callin' / And I keep on fallin' / Over and over again / This set story always ends the same / Me standin' in the pouring rain / It seems no matter what I do / It tears my heart in two / The trouble with love is (The trouble with love is) / It can tear you up inside (it can tear you up inside) / Make your heart believe a lie (Make your heart believe a lie) / Gets stronger than your pride / (The trouble with love is) / See your heart it's in your soul / (It doesnt care how fast you fall) You won't remember control / (And you cant refuse the call) / See youve got no say at all / The trouble with love is / Oh yeah / It can tear you up inside / Make your heart believe a lie (the trouble with love) /
IRRESISTABLE <<
>> Mariah Carey
* (Song
Added April 2003) Another catchy Mariah Carey love song......I
especially love the part where she sings in her extremely high-pitched
register. She sings like a bird.
CHORUS: Everytime I try to leave / Something pulls me back baby / Tried and tried to let you go / But it's just impossible / Everytime we say goodbye / Bitter teardrops fill my eyes / Wish I didn't need you so / But you're irresistible / I don't wanna lose you to somebody else / But I can't go on contradicting myself / I know that it's pointless to keep hodling on / But something inside tells me you're where I belong / Chorus / I know that it's unrealistic to think / That things will get better / Between you and me / 'Cause time after time / You just shatter my heart / But when I'm without you / I feel so torn apart / Chorus / Boy / I wish / That I didn't / Love you so / Oh / I try to tell you no / But you're irresistible / Oh / See I only want it to be like it was / When we got together and first fell in love / Sometimes it's like I'm addicted to you / This love's so consuming / I don't know what to do / Chorus (x3) /
YOU'RE
A MIRACLE TO ME
<<
>> Kelly Clarkson
* (Song
Added April 2003) This song is so sweet and beautiful. I love the
way Kelly sings this. It almost reminds me of a Mariah Carey song
(one of her early songs - like the one's off her 1990's albums).
I love this ballad.
Prayed for an angel / To come in the night / Turn some sweet light on me / Found only strangers / Then you came to me / Just when I given up / You gave me love / My world was tumbling down / You turned it around / Baby / You / You're some kind of miracle / Oh baby / You are / You're a miracle to me / Sweet revelation / That look in your eyes / Your touch in the night / I find the sweeter salvation in your arms / Baby / Oh there's no golden sun than your tender love / Oh just lifted me up / Look what you've done / You are / You're some kind of miracle / You (x3) are / You're a miracle to me / Oh / You brought joy to my heart / I found love in your arms / See what you've done to me/ You set my soul so free / You came and you gade me the love that I need / You / You are / You're some kind of miracle / Oh baby yeah / You are / You're a miracle to me / Miracle to me / Baby you are / A miracle to me /
ONE
TIN SOLDIER <<
>> Skeeter Davis
* (Song
Added April 2003) This song has been a favourite of mine since
the day I heard it. The melody is beautiful. The lyrics are
touching and the message of peace is there. I think this song was
a hit in the 1970's, but..hehe...I wasn't born yet! Nevertheless,
a good song is still a good song after all these years! Listening
to this song, especially during this time of war really gave me
goosebumps. How appropriate!
Listen children to a story that was written long ago / About a kingdom on a mountain and the valley folk below / On the mountain was a treasure / Burried deep beneath a stone / And the valley people swore they'd have it for their very own / Go ahead and hate your neighbour / Go ahead and cheat a friend / Do it in the name of Heaven / You can justify it in the end / There won't be any trumpets blowing / Come the Judgement Day / On the bloody morning after / One tin soldier rides away / So the people of the valley / Sent a message up the hill / Asking for the buried treasure / Tons of gold for which they'd kill / Came an answer / From the kingdom / With our brothers we will share / All the secrets of our mountain / All the riches buried there / Now the valley cried with anger / Mount your horses / Draw your swords / And they killed the mountain people / So they won their just rewards / Now they stood / Beside the treasure / On the mountain dark and red / Turned the stone and looked beneath it / "Peace on earth" was all it said / Go ahead and hate your neighbour / Go ahead and cheat a friend / Do it in the name of Heaven / You can justify it in the end / There won't be any trumpets blowing / Come the Judgement Day / On the bloody morning after / One tin soldier rides away / Go ahead and hate your neighbour / Go ahead and cheat a friend / Do it in the name of Heaven / You can justify it in the end / There won't be any trumpets blowing / Come the Judgement Day / On the bloody morning after / One tin soldier rides away /
NUMB <<
>> Linkin Park
* (Song
Added April 2003) I really like a lot of Linkin Park's songs.
This is obviously one of them. It's off of their newest album,
entitled "Meteora".
I'm tired of being what you want me to be / Feeling so faithless lost under the surface / Don't know what you're expecting of me / Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes / (Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow) / Every step I take is another mistake to you / (Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow) / CHORUS: I've become so numb I can't feel you there / I've become so tired so much more aware / I've becoming this all I want to do / Is be more like me and be less like you /Can't you see that you're smothering me / Holding too tightly afraid to lose control / 'Cause everything that you thought I would be / Has fallen apart right in front of you / (Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow) / Every step that I take is another mistake to you / (Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow) / And every second I waste is more than I can take / Chorus / And I know / I may end up failing too / But I know / You were just like me with someone disappointed in you / Chorus (x2) /
THERE'S
MORE TO ME THAN YOU <<
>> Jessica Andrews
* (Song
Added April 2003) Jessica Andrews always has sweet and empowering
songs. This is a great song! It's off her 2003 album, "Now".
It comes out on April 15th.
I spent years and all of this time / Thinking I was better off 'cause you were mine / You always said it was your way or the highway / So I'm shiftin' my life into drive / I'm getting out, kissin' the past goodbye / Like Toby said: "How do you like me now?" / This conversation has run dry / And I keep telling myself / CHORUS: Ooh, ooh, ooh, there's more to me than you / Ooh, ooh, don't underestimate what I can do / Well, I'm alright, it's ok / I know I'll make it through / 'Cause there's more to me than you / I'm not sayin' I'm battered and bruised / But I might as well be with the words you use / I believe in myself, that makes me stronger / Things change, and so have I / I'm gonna make hay while the sun still shines / You can clip my wings, I'm still gonna fly / I'm on my own and on my way / And I keep telling myself / Chorus / There was always something that meant more to you than me / And I'm just sorry it's taken this for you to see, yeah / Ooh, ooh, ooh, there's more to me than you / Well, I'm alright, it's ok / I know I'll make it through / 'Cause there's more to me than you / Ooh, ooh, ooh, there's more to me than you / Ooh, ooh, ooh, there's more to me than you / There's more to me than you /

T GIVE <<
>> Avril Lavigne
* (Song
Added April 2003) Avril used to be my favourite singer last year.
She's not anymore because I have found her live performance voice
rather coarse and deep. I prefer her enhanced voice on her CD,
but that's just me. Anyway, this song isn't on her debut album,
but she sang it. Where or when? I have no idea. Anyway, I like
this song. Yes, it's pop, but so what? If you know me, I like
many music genres. Anyway, I still respect Avril though. She has
a lot of great songs and I enjoy listening to them.
Everytime you go away / It actually kinda makes my day / Everytime you leave you slam the door / You pick your words so carefully / You hate to think you're hurting me / You leave me laughing on the floor / 'Cause / CHORUS: I don't give it up / I don't give a damn / What you say about that / You know I don't give it up / I don't give a damn / What you say about that / You know I'm not gonna cry / About some stupid guy / A guy who thinks he's all that / I thought we were just hanging out / So why'd you kiss me on the mouth / You thought the way you'd taste would get me high / You went to all your friends to brag / Guys are always such a drag / Don't you know the reason that I kissed you / Was to say goodbye / 'Cause / Chorus / Hanging out (x2) / I am simply hanging / Hanging out / I am simply hanging / So why'd you kiss me on the mouth / Don't you know that I / I don't give a damn about you / I won't give it up, not for you / I don't give a damn about you / I won't give it up not for you / I'm not gonna cry / About some stupid guy / A guy who thinks he's all that / I don't give it up / I don't give a damn / What you say about that / You know I don't give it up / I don't give a damn / What you say about that / I don't give it up / I don't give a damn / What you say about that / You know I don't give it up / I don't give a damn / What you say about that /
SOMEWHERE
I BELONG <<
>> Linkin Park
* (Song
Added April 2003) Linkin Park's lyrics are always so emotional
and there's always a strong message in the songs. I think that's
why I like them. They deliver potent messages that aren't flowery
or sugar-coated.
(When this began) / I had nothing to say / And I get lost in the nothingness inside of me / (I was confused) / And I let it all out to find / That Im not the only person with these things in mind / (Inside of me) / But all that they can see the words revealed / Is the only real thing that Ive got left to feel / (Nothing to lose) / Just stuck, hollow and alone / And the fault is my own / And the fault is my own / CHORUS: I wanna heal / I wanna feel what I thought was never real / I wanna let go of the pain Ive felt so long / (Erase all the pain till its gone) / I wanna heal / I wanna feel like Im close to something real / I wanna find something Ive wanted all along / Somewhere I belong / And Ive got nothing to say / I cant believe I didnt fall right down on my face / (I was confused) / Looking everywhere only to find / That its not the way I had imagined it all in my mind / (So what am I) / What do I have but negativity / Cause I cant justify the way, everyone is looking at me / (Nothing to lose) / Nothing to gain, hollow and alone / And the fault is my own, and the fault is my own / Chorus / I will never know myself until I do this on my own / And I will never feel anything else until my wounds are healed / I will never be anything till I break away from me / I will break away, I'll find myself today / Chorus / I wanna heal / I wanna feel like Im somewhere I belong / I wanna heal / I wanna feel like Im somewhere I belong / Somewhere I belong /
ANYTIME <<
>> Kelly Clarkson
* (Song
Added March 2003) The American Idol champion has an amazing voice.
I think that she'll go really far in the music industry. I love
the way she sings with such power. I'm looking forward to the
release of her album "Thankful". It should be really
good.
Anytime you feel / Like you just can't hold on / Just hold on to my love / And I'll help you be strong / But you're so afraid to lose / And baby I can't reach your heart / I can't face this world that's keepin' us apart / And I can be the one to show you everything you missed before / Just hold on now / 'Cause I could be the one to give you more / Let you know / Anytime you need love baby I'm on your side / Yay / Just let me be the one I can make it alright / I can make it alright / Anytime you need love baby you're in my heart / I can make it alright / I look into your eyes / And I feel it comin' through / I can't help but want you / More than I want to / So baby take all of your fears / Cast them all on me / 'Cause all I ever wanted / Was just to make you see / That I could be the one to give you / All that you've been searching for / Just hold on to my love and baby let me give you more / You know / Anytime / I'm on your side / Let me be the one / I can make it alright (x2) / Anytime you need love you're in my heart / I can make it alright / Now there's no way out / And I can't help the way I feel / 'Cause baby you're the fire / And I'll be waiting 'round here / You know my love is for real / Baby yeah yeah yeah / Anytime you need love baby I'm on your side / You know / Just let me be the one I can make it alright / I can make it alright / Anytime you need love baby you're in my heart / I can make it alright / Yeah (x5) / I'm on your side / Let me be the one (x3) / Alright / You're in my heart / I can make it alright / Oh yeah yeah /

WAY MULE <<
>> Silverchair
* (Song
Added March 2003) This is one of my favourites off the "Diorama"
album. *sigh* Yeah...Daniel Johns the Ever Talented One....*Smile*
Let my spirit ride on a one way mule / Blistered skin in a cold hearted pool / Distant emotion hides a concrete wall / Naked and anchored / I'll climb right back to you / Love me for my mind 'cause I'm a dangerous heart / When I've got time to kill I'm coming back to you / Distant memories in a cage by my bed / Viscid dreams stick to holes in my head / But a patient career of sleep in a Sunday dress / Rides my wake / Love me for my mind 'cause I'm a dangerous heart / When I've got time to kill I'm coming back to you / I'll stake out just to find / The knife in a dangerous heart / When I've got time to kill I'm coming back for you / And love me for my mind 'cause I'm a dangerous heart / When I've got time to kill I'm coming back for you / I'll stake out just to find / The knife in a dangerous heart / When I've got time to kill I'm coming back to you / To you (x2) / Yeah / To you /

STEP CLOSER <<
>> Linkin Park
* (Song
Added March 2003) I like a number of Linkin Park songs. They're
great to listen to especially when you're in a bad mood. They get
your frustration out and their tunes are catchy. This song is old,
as it's from their "Hybrid Theory" album.
I cannot take this anymore / I'm saying everything I've said before / All these words they make no sense / I find bliss in ignorance / Less I hear the less you'll say / But you'll find that out anyway / Just like before / CHORUS: Everything you say to me / Takes me one step closer to the edge / And I'm about to break / I need a little room to breathe / 'Cause I'm one step closer to the edge / And I'm about to break / I find the answers aren't so clear / Wish I could find a way to disappear / All these thoughts they make no sense / I find bliss in ignorance / Nothing seems to go away / Over and over again / Just like before / Chorus (x2) / Shut up when I'm talking to you / Shut up (x4) / When I'm talking to you / Shut up (x3) / Im about to break / Chorus (x2) /
YELLOW
<<
>> Emm Gryner
* (Song
Added February 2003) This song is from Emm's older 2000 album,
"Dead Relatives". This song is soothing like an Enya
song.
Can you see the yellow on the road / Lying there for quite some time / Here my hands shaped like yours hold explanation / It helps nothing how dare you make me cry / I utter vows left and right, and east and west / How I'll break the circle by never being any less / This day could quietly disappear / Would I notice when all I see is / Yellow (x4) / Lucky are you, blind to the colours you've left behind / Lying here for quite some time / There's nothing real to celebrate for you or for me / The difference now is we are alive / I utter vows left and right, and east and west / How I'll hold mine close to me and show them happiness / This day could quietly disappear / Would I notice when all I see is / Yellow (x8) / I utter vows left and right, and east and west / How I don't care either way / I really must confess / This day has quietly disappeared / Have you noticed / Have you seen / Yellow (x20) /
WEAPON <<
>> Matthew Good
* (Song
Added February 2003) I first saw the music video for this song
and it was very interesting because it had so many messages being
briefing flashed upon the screen. There's a deeper message to
this song and because it can be interpreted in so many different
ways, I find this song very interesting.
Here by my side / An angel / Here by my side / The devil / Never turn your back on me / Never turn your back on me again / Here by my side, it's heaven / Here by my side / You are destruction / Here by my side / A new colour to paint the world / Never turn your back on it / Never turn your back on it again / Here by my side / It's heaven / Careful / Be careful / Careful / Be careful / This is where the world drops off / Where the world drops off / Careful / Be careful / You breathe in and you breathe out / For it ain't so weird / How it makes you a weapon / And you give in / And you give out / For it ain't so weird / How it makes you a weapon / Never turn your back on it / Never turn your back on it again / Careful / Be careful / Here by my side / It's heaven (x3) /

>> Laura Pausini
* (Song
Added February 2003) What can I say? I am a sucker for cliche pop
love songs...It's a beautiful song, especially when you're in
love.
Used to be afraid of love / Used to be alone / Never thought I'd find / Someone to lean upon / But like a blessing from above / You came into my life / When my faith was gone / Somehow you found me / You took my hand when I was lost / Embraced me with your love / In yours arms is where I belong / CHORUS: You are my shelter / My tears and laughter / The sunlight and the wind / You are my angel / You are the joy that love can bring / Love will grow and take us high / Love has just begun / And I do believe / Nothing can bring us down / And I can see it in your eyes / The flame will never fade / 'Cause in my heart I know / To be there beside you / To hold you when you're down and out / Embrace you with my love / 'Cause in my heart is where you belong / CHORUS / You are my one and only / You are my everything / Your endless love surrounds me / You are the joy that love can bring / Yes you are / You are my shelter / My tears and laughter / Baby, baby, baby you're the wind / You are my angel / You are the joy that love can bring / Your love surrounds me / Baby don't you know you are my everything / You are my angel / You are the joy that love can bring / You are my angel / Yes you are /

SORT OF HUMAN BEING <<
>> Emm Gryner
* (Song
Added February 2003) This song has a beautiful soft edge to it.
Yes, I'm still obsessed with Emm and her talent.
I don't think I'm going to Soho for spring / You wouldn't be caught alive at the Garrick with me / Did I die with the daisies / Did I go with the wind / Did I / Did I burden you with this / I seem to pace across the floor tile / Jammed up inside / I made the digger dig a little deeper / 'Cause I can't believe it died / Was I not your sort of human being / Was I not your kind of creature / Tell me how unworthy / I seemed when you got thinking about it (x2) / So my love song isn't hard enough for you / Did I lose my tune to one of Jupiter's moons / Oh yeah / Did I pass with the centuries / In your coventry house / Did I / Did I call your name too loud / Well I seem to pace across the floor tile / Jammed up inside / I made the digger dig a little deeper / 'Cause I can't believe it died / Was I not your sort of human being / Was I not your kind of creature / Tell me how unworthy / I seemed when you got thinking about it / Was I not your sort of human being / Was I not your kind of creature / Tell me how unworthy / I seemed when you got thinking about it (x3) / You thought when you got thinking about it /
ALL
THE THINGS SHE SAID <<
>> T.A.T.U.
* (Song
Added February 2003) This song is incredibly controversial, but
hey, I like the beat to it, not so much the lyrics. The lyrics
are rather boring and flat, like pop that has lost its fizz. I'm
not too impressed with these lyrics because there is so much
repetition throughout the entire song. Probably I missed posting
a few of them, but hey, I did the best I could. Anyway, this song
was chosen to be displayed on this page because it really shows
us the sign of the times. Are there no boundaries?
All the things she said (x2) / Running through my head (x3) / All the things she said (x2) / Running through my head (x2) / All the things she said / This is not enough / I'm in serious shit, I feel totally lost / If I'm asking for help it's only because / Being with you has opened my eyes / Could I ever believe such a perfect surprise / I keep asking myself, wondering how / I keep closing my eyes but I can't block you out / Wanna fly to a place where it's just you and me / Nobody else so we can be free (x2) / All the things she said (x2) / Running through my head (x2) / All the things she said (x2) / Running through my head (x3) / This is not enough (x2) / All the things she said (x4) / And I'm all mixed up, feeling cornered and rushed / They say it's my fault but I want her so much / Wanna fly her away where the sun and rain / Come in over my face, wash away all the shame / When they stop and stare, don't worry me / Cause I'm feeling for her what she's feeling for me / I can try to pretend, I can try to forget / But it's driving me mad, going out of my head / All the things she said (x2) / Running through my head (x3) / All the things she said (x2) / Running through my head (x2) / All the things she said / This is not enough (x2) / All the things she said (x6) / Mother looking at me / Tell me what do you see / Yes, I've lost my mind / Daddy looking at me / Will I ever be free / Have I crossed the line / All the things she said (x2) / Running through my head (x3) / All the things she said (x2) / Running through my head (x2) / All the things she said / This is not enough (x2) / All the things she said (x several repeats until music fades) /
ACROSS
THE NIGHT <<
>> Silverchair
* (Song
Added January 2003) I remember in grade 9 I heard a song by
Silverchair and I realllllly didn't like it. Now, in university,
my musical tastes have broadened and I no longer listen to just
one music genre. I embrace many different kinds. I re-visited
Silverchair's music and while it took me a long time to "discover"
and appreciate their music, I am at that point now. I recently
bought Silverchair's newest album, "Diorama" (which can
mean a world within a world, depending on the definition you
prefer). That album is one of my favourites now. There are soooo
many amazing songs on that album. I've posted up the lyrics to
only a few songs that I absolutely love. Daniel Johns (the
vocalist/guitarist/pianist/songwriter/co-producer) is extremely
talented and I can't believe that I only got into Silverchair now.
Ah well, better late than never I suppose. Anyway, as you'll see
from my January additions to this subpage, I've become recently
obsessed with their music.
Across the night / It was the moon that stole my slumber / Across the night / I fell in love with people sleeping / And hugged a man's arthritic shoulder / I felt tired / Asleep in a golden ocean / Your eyes perspired / A spike in my fascination / I don't mean to make you cry / But this feeling will run right through the night / And I'll only make you cry with these feelings / Across the night / It was the moon that stole my slumber / Across the night / I fell in love with people sleeping / Across the night (x3) / Our demands are freely sheltered / Sleepless / Untamed without a leash on the light around me / I don't mean to make you cry / But these feelings run right through the night / And I'll only make you cry with these feelings / Across the night / It was the moon that stole my slumber / Across the night / I fell in love with people sleeping / Across the night (x3) / Our demands are freely sheltered (x2) / So let us be married and have another baby / 'Cause I don't wanna be lonely / I just wanna be alone / Yeah let's just get married / Shouting baby baby babies / Oh / You'll never sleep at all / I don't wanna be lonely / Oh you'll never sleep / I don't wanna be lonely / I just wanna be alone / Never seen the sunshine / From higher points than sunrise / I don't wanna be lonely / Never seen the sunshine / From higher points than sunrise / I don't wanna be lonely / I just wanna be alone /
EAST
COAST ANGEL <<
>> Emm Gryner
* (Song
Added January 2003) I've been a big fan of Emm ever since I heard
her play the piano and sing on television on a night show. She is
incredibly talented. I own both her 2001 album called "Girl
Versions" and her 2002 album called "Asianblue".
Emm Gryner is a vocalist/pianist/guitarist/songwriter/co-producer/president
of her own independent record label and tons more! She is a real
overachiever. Wow! Her "Asianblue" album (and I believe
all her older ones too) were all entirely funded by the artist
and her fans. They were in no way financially supported by a
corporation, major record label, or government agency. She did it
all on her own. Her music is who she is. There's no cover-up or
"cookie-cutter" image. With Emm, you always get the
real deal. It's just too bad that not too many people have
discovered Emm. Sure, the radio occasionally plays her song,
"Beautiful Things", but in my opinion, there are other
songs on her newest album that are even better. Check out her
album and you won't be disappointed! Yes, apparently I am also
incredibly obsessed with Emm's work (and not just Silverchair...hehe).
I've been driving around too much / I've been cold and confused like a riverside rush / You floated up and away after the parade / Did she tell you not to speak to me / As if a winter in exile would set you free / I know I dirtied the plan / But you were the sun, the rain, and the superman / And it's time to let you fly / I've been pacing up and down with no reply / It's time to let you go / Maybe you'll miss me when you hear me on the radio / I knew all along to be near you was wrong / But you got into my veins till I wasn't the same / East coast angel (x2) / And are you holding up falling stars / For a while there was a room that was only ours in the darkened hotel light / There was a peace to the things that were not right / And it's time to let you fly / Though you showed me the glow of the runway lights / Now it's time to let you go / Maybe you'll miss me when you hear me on the radio / I knew all along to be near you was wrong / But you got into my veins till I wasn't the same / East coast angel (x2) / We shouldn't have flown so high to the sky / And melt in each others' eyes / It's a long way down / From that heavenly sound to this place where I'm screaming out loud / East coast angel (x2) / And it's time to let you fly / I've been pacing up and down with no reply / It's time to let you go / Maybe you'll miss me when you hear me on the radio (x2) /
AFTER
ALL THESE YEARS
<<
>> Silverchair
* (Song
Added January 2003) This song is also off the "Diorama"
album. It's so beautiful, deep, and mature. I love it.
Breathe in the night / That crushed a tired sunrise / Born again the day / Brings young naivety / A laptop souvenir is worth its weight / In silver and golden son / You'll be home again / And I'll be home again / Mend in my sleep / I'm boxing under water / Waddle on the wake / Waking on a summer day / A summer day / And after all these years / Forget about all the troubled times / And after all these years / Forget about all the troubled times / And every father's pain / Casts a shadow over a broken son / You'll be whole again / And I'll be whole again / Munificent artless and ascetic / Playing like a scared / Enthusiastic pawn / After all these years / Forget about all the troubled times / And after all these years / Forget about all the troubled times / Troubled times / All those years / I was hurting to feel / Something more than life / After all these years / Forget about all the troubled times / And after all these years / Forget about all the troubled times / And after all these years / Forget about all the troubled times / Troubled times / All those years / I was hurting to feel / Something more than life /
SYMPHONIC <<
>> Emm Gryner
* (Song
Added January 2003) This song has a catchy melody and beat, and
the lyrics are perfect. I can relate to all of Emm's songs. I say
it all the time, but one more time: She is a lyrical genius, a
wonderful musician, and a talented singer. She is an artist, in
every sense of the word.
You're running through the underground / Hiding your real first name / I always said you were the real star / You move like a hurricane through the pain / You said don't forget about me / Don't forget about me / Like I'd ever forget about you / How could I just change my mind / When all the sun shines down on you / Everyone's a lie but you're so true / You're symphonic / You're the light of the moon / How could I forget you / There's a whisper in the limo / Thousands of miles away / But there are no lies in your blue eyes / Only a summer day / A sweet summer day / When all the sun shines down on you / Everyone's a lie but you're so true / You're symphonic / You're the light of the moon / How could I forget you / You're a starry dream that never ends / Fireworks around the bend / And angel on the river Thames / You must know you're all the lights on New Year's Eve / Quiet on the raging sea / How could I forget you / How could I forget you / You said don't forget about me / Don't forget about me / Like I'd ever forget about you / How could I just change my mind / When all the sun shines down on you / Everyone's a lie but you're so true / You're symphonic / You're the light of the moon / How could I forget you / When all the sun shines down on you / Everyone's a lie but you're so true / You're symphonic / You're the light of the moon / How could I forget you / You said don't forget about me / Don't forget about me (x2) /
WORLD
UPON YOUR SHOULDERS <<
>> Silverchair
* (Song
Added January 2003) This song starts off soft and then gradually
introduces heavier guitar and drum sounds. Great song!
All the bridges in the world / Won't save you / If there is no other side / To cross to / When you're not feeling ugly / And the world's not too much / Take the world upon your shoulders (x2) / And burn, burn, burn, burn, burn / Take the world upon your shoulders / Half full glasses / Lost in empty houses / When you're not feeling ugly / And the world's not too much / Take the world upon your shoulders (x2) / And burn, burn, burn, burn, burn / Take the world upon your shoulders / Violent / Big and violent / Like a thing that's big / Big and violent / A world that's big and violent / When you're not feeling ugly / And the world's not too much / Take the world upon your shoulders (x2) / And burn, burn, burn, burn, burn / Take the world upon your shoulders (x3) /
LONESTAR <<
>> Emm Gryner
* (Song
Added January 2003) This song is so heartfelt and you almost feel
heartbroken and empathetic when you hear the sweetness and
honesty in the words. Emm Gryner is a lyrical genius. She can
really capture emotions and compose a song of true beauty.
All the stars above I named for you / Constellations spun like a sea of aquablue / Now where do I find us / Without love or kindness / Piecing up these broken scenes / Burning down my teenage dream / One day you will wonder why / You left me like a lonestar / One day you will wonder why / You left me like a lonestar / Running after you / Asking everyone what is true / I've had all of this bad news but I believed / That I was done being a lonestar / All the nights I wandered in the haze / Are back to greet me with a smile again / Now where will I land / Without the comfort of your hand / Angels whisper you're so wrong / I'll wait till the regret comes on / One day you will wonder why / You left me like a lonestar / One day you will wonder why / You left me like a lonestar / Running after you / Asking everyone what is true / I've had all of this bad news but I believed / That I was done being a lonestar / Maybe the time has come to get out into a brighter sun / Though I know you more than anyone / You still stay blind to me you know that / You still stay blind to me / One day you will wonder why / You left me like a lonestar / One day you will wonder why / You left me like a lonestar / Running after you / Asking everyone what is true / I've had all of this bad news but I believed / That I was done being a lonestar / Running after you / Asking everyone what is true / I've had all of this bad news but I believed / That I was done being a lonestar / Running after you / Asking everyone what is true / I've had all of this bad news but I believed / That I was done being a lonestar (x3) /
THE
GREATEST VIEW <<
>> Silverchair
* (Song
Added January 2003) Gee, can't you tell that I love Silverchair?
This song is catchy and I especially love the strong sound of the
guitars in certain parts of the song. Of course, Daniel Johns has
an amazing voice.
You're the analyst / The fungus in my milk / When you want no one / And you got someone / Through the wind / You crawl / And laugh at burning dunes / When no one else will / Ever see / Now that you know why you feel like you do / They're turning their head whilst they wait / For no one / And finally I know why you feel like letting go / I'm watching you watch / Over me and I've got / The greatest view from here / I'm watching you watch / Over me and I've got / The greatest view from here / Mistakes don't mean a thing / If you don't regret them / So pack your tactic toes for the winter / Chain a waterfall to burned and withered skin / No one else will ever see / I'm watching you watch / Over me and I've got / The greatest view from here / I'm watching you watch / Over me and I've got / The greatest view from here / Now that you know why you feel like you do / They're turning their head whilst they wait / For no one / And finally I know why I feel like you're letting go / I'm watching you watch / Over me and I've got / The greatest view from here / I'm watching you watch / Over me and I've got / The greatest view from here (x3) /
CHRISTOPHER
<<
>> Emm Gryner
* (Song
Added January 2003) This is such an enlightening song. It was
dedicated by Emm for Chris Hadfield. He was the first Canadian
astronaut to free-float into space. What a beautiful melody and
such touching lyrics.
Winter hangs on just like a jilted love / Left to pass time under factory lights / Spinnin' on freeways for 25 years / A place in the sky where it all disappears / Street lamps flicker with stops and starts / We drag-race our devils to fill empty hearts / Headlines and cities and curtains drawn dark / And Christopher floats to the stars / Christopher walks on the dark / Spring comes alight like cigarette flame / I'm singin' this song though rock fades away / We're runnin' for something we can't quite discern / But we'll look to the sky and say that's where you were / Street lamps flicker with stops and starts / We drag-race our devils to fill empty hearts / And headlines and cities and curtains drawn dark / And Christopher floats to the stars / Christopher walks on the dark / We are just driving in cars / But Christopher walks on the dark /
MISS
YOU LOVE <<
>> Silverchair
* (Song
Added January 2003) This song comes from Silverchair's older
album entitled "Neon Ballroom". I love Silverchair.
They are so talented and creative. With the play on words and the
melody, many people incorrectly think that this is a love song.
It's really an anti-love song. This is genius!
Millionaires say / Got a big shot deal / And thrown it all away but / But I'm not too sure / How I'm supposed to feel / Or what I'm supposed to say / But I'm not / Not sure / Not too sure how it feels / To handle every day / And I miss you love / Make room for the prey / 'Cause I'm coming in / With what I wanna say but / It's gonna hurt / And I love the pain / A breeding ground for hate but / I'm not / Not sure / Not too sure how it feels / To handle everyday / Like the one that just past / In the crowds of all the people / Remember today / I've no respect for you / And I miss you love / And I misuse love / I love the way you love / But I hate the way / I'm supposed to love you back / It's just a fad / Part of the teenage angst brigade and / I'm not / Not sure / Not too sure how it feels / To handle everyday / Like the one that just past / In the crowds of all the people / Remember today / I've no respect for you / And I miss you love / And I misuse love / Remember today / I've no respect for you / And I miss you love / And I miss you / I love the way you love / But I hate the way / I'm supposed to love you back /
NOTHING
I'VE EVER KNOWN
<<
>> Bryan Adams
* (Song
Added December 2002) I haven't listened to any Bryan Adams songs
for such a long time...so long that I actually forgot how amazing
his music is!!! Can you believe it? Anyway, I change all my
previous statements about who my current favourite singer/songwriter
is. It is definitely Bryan Adams. He's got the talent - his husky
voice, his insightful lyrics I can relate to, and of course his
great guitar playing skills. Y'know, I had been so swept up with
Michelle Branch for the longest time that I didn't even notice
that Bryan Adams came out with a 2002 album. Well, it's a
soundtrack called "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron." I
downloaded a few of the songs on the album from the internet to
sample them. So far all of them are amazing, as Bryan is. I'm
going to buy the soundtrack before the new year. I just have to
have it!!!!!!! His songs are classic and they will never fade
away.
Right now I feel just like a leaf on a breeze / Who knows where it's blowin' / Who knows where it's goin' / I find myself somewhere I... I never thought I'd be / Goin' round in circles / Yeah / Thinking about you and me / How do I explain it when I don't know what to say / What do I do now so much has changed / CHORUS: Nothing I have ever known has made me feel this way / Nothing I have ever seen has made me want to stay / But here I am / Ready for you / I'm torn 'n' / I'm fallin' / I hear my home callin' / Hey / I've never felt somethin' so strong / Oh no / It 's like nothing I've ever known / You're the one I'm lookin' for / You're the one I need / You're the one that gives me a reason to believe / Following a star has led to where you are / I feel so strong now / This can't be wrong now / Chorus / It's like nothing I've ever known / But now I feel like a leaf on a breeze / Who knows where it's blowin' / And who knows where I'm goin' /

MISS YOU <<
>> Aaliyah
* (Song
Added December 2002) This is a beautiful, heartwarming song. If
you've seen the music video for it, I think that it was sweet
that Aaliyah's friends participated in it as a tribute to their
close friend. The late Aaliyah will be remembered, not only for
her amazing music and soulful voice, but also her kind and modest
nature. We will all miss Aaliyah. She died too soon.
Ho / Hey / Yay (x3) / Nnnn no no / CHORUS: / It's been too long and I'm lost without you / What am I gonna do / Said I been needin' you / I'm wantin' you / Wonderin' if you're the same / And who's been with you / Is your heart still mine / I want to cry sometimes / I miss you / Off to college / Yes you ran away / Straight from high school / You up and left me / We were close friends / Awesome lovers / Did everything for one another / Now you're gone / And I'm lost without you here now / But I know I gotta live and make it somehow / Come back to me / Can you hear me (callin') / Hear me (callin' for you) / For you / 'Cause / Chorus / Now I'm sittin' here / Thinkin' 'bout you / And the days we used to share / It's drivin' me crazy / I don't know what to do / I'm just wonderin' if you still care / I don't want to let you know / That it's killin' me / I know you got another life / You got to concentrate / Baby / Come back to me / Can you hear me (callin') / Hear me (callin' for you) / For you / 'Cause / Chorus (x2) / I miss you (x2) / CHORUS BRIDGE: I can't think no more / Since you went away / I don't really feel like talkin' / No one here to love me / Baby do you understand me / I can't do a thing without you / Chorus (x3) /
YOU
GET ME <<
>> Michelle Branch
* (Song
Added December 2002) Michelle Branch is very talented. She is a
singer and a songwriter, all on top of a guitar player. I really
enjoy her lyrics. They always have depth and I can relate to all
of her songs. I can't wait for her next album to come out!
So I'm a little left of center / I'm a little out of tune / Some say I'm paranormal / So I just bend their spoon / Who wants to be ordinary / In a crazy mixed-up world / I don't care what they're sayin' / As long as I'm your girl / Hey, you are on my side / And they, they just roll their eyes / You get me / When nobody understands / You come and take the chance / Baby / You get me / You look inside my wild mind / Never knowing what you'll find / And still you want me all the time / Yeah you do / Yeah you get me / So what if I see the sunshine / In the pouring rain / Some people think I'm crazy / But you say it's okay / You've seen my secret garden / Where all of my flowers grow / In my imagination / Anything goes / I, I am all you want / They, they just read me wrong / You get me / When nobody understands / You come and hold my hand, baby / You get me / You look inside my wild mind / Never knowing what you'll find / Still you want me all the time / Yeah, you do / 'Cause you get me / Hey, you are on my side / They, they just roll their eyes / Yeah (x3) / 'Cause you get me / When nobody understands / You come and take the chance, baby / You get me / When none of the pieces fit / You make sense of it / You get me / You look inside my wild mind / Never knowing what you'll find / And still I want you all the time / Yeah I do / 'Cause you get me / Yeah...oh (x2) /
MY
MISTAKE <<
>> MXPX
* (Song
Added December 2002) This has a punky sound to it, although I am
quite aware that it is not what people would consider "real
punk" (whatever that is). I like this song because it's
catchy and it also reminds me of someone in particular.
I broke everything we had / There's no fixing of what went bad / So many fatal mistakes / I broke every single rule / And I don't think they've made a tool / To fix all of my mistakes / CHORUS: When I said goodbye / It brought a tear to your eye / That was my mistake / When I told you to go / 'Cause I just didn't know / That was my mistake / I broke down inside my mind / I thought that I was doing fine / So hard on myself / Broke up everything I built / And now I'm living with the guilt / At least I have my health / Chorus / Time will heal / Bruises fade / Life will change the plans we made / If we face the truth / It'd be our best / There's no need to worry about the rest / Chorus / That was my mistake (x2) /
AT
YOUR BEST <<
>> Aaliyah
* (Song
Added December 2002) All this time I thought that this song was
called "Let Me Know", but I finally found out that it
is really "At Your Best". I really love this song. I've
loved it for a very long time now, so I figured that I should
overcome my laziness and post it up on here.
Let me know (x2) / Ah ha / Let me know (x3) / When I feel what I feel / Sometimes it's hard to tell you so / You may not be in the mood to learn what you think you know / There are times when I find / You want to keep yourself from me / When I don't have the strength / I'm just a mirror to what I see / CHORUS: But at your best / You are love / You're a positive motivating force within my life / Should you ever feel the need to wonder why / Let me know (x3) / When you feel what you feel / Oh / How hard for me to understand / So many things have taken place before this love affair began / But if you feel / Oh / Like I feel / Confusion can give way to doubt / For there are times when I fall short of what I say / What I say I'm all about / All about / Chorus / Yes / CHORUS BRIDGE: Tell me what it is (Tell me what it is) / There's no need to make believe / Make believe / No need to make believe / Look beyond your own (Look beyond your own) / Try to find another place for me (Try to find another place for me) / 'Cause / Chorus / Let me Know (x2) / Ha ah / See / At your best baby /
GOODBYE
TO YOU <<
>> Michelle Branch
* (Song
Added December 2002) Another amazingly deep and heartfelt song by
the talented Michelle Branch. Some of my friends think that I
look like Michelle in her music video for "Goodbye To You".
Of all the things I believed in / I just want to get it over with / Tears form behind my eyes / But I do not cry / Counting the days that pass me by / I've been searchin' deep down in my soul / Words that I'm hearin' are starting to get old / Feels like I'm starting all over again / The last three years were just pretend and I said / CHORUS: Goodbye to you / Goodbye to everything I thought I knew / You were the one I love / The one thing that I tried to hold on to / I still get lost in your eyes / And it seems that I can't live a day without you / Closing my eyes and you chase my thoughts away / To a place where I am blinded by the light but it's not right / Chorus / Oh / And it hurts to want everything and nothing at the same time / I want what's yours and I want what's mine / I want you but I'm not givin' in this time / Goodbye to you / Goodbye to everything I thought I knew / You were the one I loved / The one thing that I tried to hold on to (x2) / Chorus / And when the stars fall I will lie awake / You're my shooting star /
DON'
T BELIEVE IT ALL <<
>> Treble Charger
* (Song
Added November 2002) This song reminds me of what I was thinking
when I got out of a "unsuccessful" relationship. This
song is perfect! If only this song was around back then, I could've
used it as therapy or something! Haha....just kidding...but
really, there's so much emotion behind it. Treble Charger is
incredible in this song and of course I love their older song
called "American Psycho." They've got a great sound and
I love the guitars!!!!!
Halfway from midnight to dawn / Let's just forget and move on / Everything you say / It never seems to change a thing inside / Things you never did were even worse condsidering what's right [All this time I] / Been the one you string along / Tie me up to bring along / Never once getting in your way / CHORUS: What you say is unbelievable / I can't stand to hear it once more / What you did I don't believe it all / What's worse you can't even say why / Half of my life flashes by / Just look me straight in the eye / Words are gonna cheat / The company you keep is more to blame / Things you always did they never seem to me to be as tame [All this time I] / Tried to leave but never could / Wonder if I ever would / Knowing you'd be standing in my way / So / CHORUS / You can't even say why / You can't even say / Like it was ten years ago / What's forgotten down below / Some things that you'll never know / What you say / I can't believe / I wanna know what's right / What you say [I can't believe] / I want to know what's right / What you say [I can't believe] / I want to know what's right / CHORUS /
THE
VOICE WITHIN <<
>> Christina Aguilera
* (Song
Added November 2002) I think that Christina has amazing and
strong vocal chords, even if she seems to be wearing less and
less clothing now. This is one of the songs off her new album and
I really love the message behind it and her voice is just so
incredible. This song is so deep and emotional. I love it. It
sent shivers up my spine when I first heard it because it was so
beautiful! I really can't fathom why people tend to compare her
with Britney Spears. I believe that Christina sings waaaay better
than Britney. Go download this song or buy her album and you'll
see that the comparison between her and Britney should not even
exist.
Young girl, don't cry / I'll be right here when your world starts to fall / Young girl, it's alright / Your tears will dry, you'll soon be free to fly / When you're safe inside your room you tend to dream / Of a place where nothing's harder than it seems / No one ever wants or bothers to explain / Of the heartache life can bring and what it means / CHORUS: When there's no one else / Look inside yourself / Like your oldest friend / Just trust the voice within / Then you'll find the strength / That will guide your way / If you will learn to begin / To trust the voice within / Young girl, don't hide / You'll never change if you just run away / Young girl, just hold tight / And soon you're gonna see your brighter day / Now in a world where innocence is quickly claimed / It's so hard to stand your ground when you're so afraid / No one reaches out a hand for you to hold / When you're lost outside look inside to your soul / CHORUS / Life is a journey / It can take you anywhere you choose to go / As long as you're learning / You'll find all you'll ever need to know / You'll make it (x2) / Just don't go forsaking yourself / No one can stop you / You know that I'm talking to you / CHORUS / Young girl, don't cry / I'll be right here when your world starts to fall /
BEAUTIFUL <<
>> Christina Aguilera
* (Song
Added: November 2002) We are all beautiful in our own ways.
Remember that.
Don't look at me / Every day is so wonderful, then suddenly / It's hard to breathe / Now and then, I get insecure from all the pain / I'm so ashamed / I am beautiful no matter what they say / Words can't bring me down / I am beautiful in every single way / Yes, words can't bring me down / Oh no / So, don't you bring me down today / To all your friends, you're delirious / So consumed in all your doom / Trying hard to fill the emptiness, the pieces gone / Left the puzzle undone, is that the way it is? / You are beautiful no matter what they say / Words can't bring you down / Oh no / 'Cause you are beautiful in every single way / Yes, words can't bring you down / Oh no / So, don't you bring me down today / No matter what we do / No matter what we say / We're the song inside the tune / Full of beautiful mistakes / And everywhere we go / The sun will always shine / And tomorrow we might / Awake on the other side / 'Cause we are beautiful no matter what they say / Yes, words won't bring us down / Oh no / We are beautiful in every single way / Yes, words can't bring us down / Oh no / So, don't you bring me down today / Don't you bring me down today (x2) /
THROUGH
THE RAIN <<
>> Mariah Carey
* (Song
Added: September 2002) First of all, no matter what you think of
the way Mariah Carey dresses, she is an incredible singer and
even though I'm not her number 1 fan, I do like quite a few of
her songs, but especially those on her older albums. The only
albums I didn't like were her Rainbow, Butterfly
and Glitter albums. Anyway, this song sounds pretty. The message
behind it is so motivating and I love songs that uplift you,
especially when you're down. I'm glad that she's coming out with
some new tunes. It seems like a while since her last hit. I think
I read somewhere that her new album will be coming out in
December 2002 or something like that.
Ho ohh / Yeah / Ho ohh / When you get caught in the rain / With nowhere to run / When you're distraught and in pain / Without anyone / You keep crying out to saved / But nobody comes / And you feel so far away / That you just can't / Find your way home / You can get there alone / It's okay / What you say / CHORUS: I can make it through the rain / I can stand up once again / On my own and I know / That I'm strong enough to mend / And everytime I feel afraid / I hold tighter to my faith / And I live one more day / And I make it through the rain / Hoo (x2) / Doo (x3) / Ooh hoo / Mmm / Hmm / And if you keep falling down / Don't you dare give in / You will arise safe and sound / So keep pressing on / Steadfastly / And you'll find what you need / To prepare / What you say / CHORUS / And when the wind moves / And shadows grow close / Don't be afraid / There's nothing you can't face / And sure they tell you / You'll never pull through / Don't hesitate / Stay calm and sane / CHORUS / I can make it through the rain / Can stand up once again / And I live one more day / And I'll make it through the rain / Oh, yes, you can / Mmm / Hmm / You're gonna make it through the rain /
HORIZON <<
>> 38th Parallel
* (Song
Added: September 2002) This song has become my new favourite. I
love the message behind it - about a person whose life becomes
bleak, but gains strength and courage through faith. In my case,
when I'm feeling like I'm lost spiritually, I look towards God to
give me direction. He won't lead me in the wrong direction, just
like the lyrics say. Wherever you say, I'll go. I'll look to the
blue horizon - HEAVEN.
Another day burns away into darkness / Another blink of the eye of time / I am straining through the blackness / Ever searching for a sign / CHORUS #1: The days grow long and the days grow dark / And the days grow ever colder / The trust that I started with fades as I get older / Though the road is hard / It seems to me there is no way around this / From all you've done for me / I know you'll never break your promise / CHORUS #2: So here at the end of this day / Where the world is shaded in gray / I will look to blue horizons and watch for you to come / When my hope is tattered and torn / When my faith is weathered and worn / I'll look to the blue horizons / I am still walking, evading the shadows / I am still running that narrow line / I would go wherever you would have me go / Ever searching for a sign / CHORUS #1 / CHORUS #2 / CHORUS #1 / CHORUS #2 / Wherever you say I'll go (x2) / I look to the blue horizons / Wherever / I'll go /
HIGH <<
>> Lighthouse Family
* (Song
Added: September 2002) A few years ago, this song was really
popular and I used to hear it on the radio a whole lot. I love
this song and now everytime I hear it (which isn't as often
anymore), it brings back some of my highschool memories. For the
longest time I didn't know what the name of the song was or even
who sang it. I did a little search and finally found it. Now I'm
here to share it with the rest of you. Enjoy!
When you're close to tears remember / Someday it'll all be over / One day we're gonna get so high / Though it's darker than December / What's ahead is a different colour / One day we're gonna get so high / And at the end of the day remember the days / When we were close to the end / And wonder how we made it through the night / At the end of the day / Remember the way / We stayed so close to the end / We'll remember it was me and you / CHORUS: Cause we are gonna be / Forever, you and me / You will / Always keep it flying high in the sky / Of love / Don't you think it's time you started / Doing what we always wanted / One day we're gonna get so high / Cause even the impossible / Is easy when we got each other / One day we're gonna get so high / And at the end of the day remember the days / When we were close to the end / And wonder how we made it through the night / At the end of the day / Remember the way / We stayed so close to the end / We'll remember it was me and you / CHORUS (x2) / High (x8) / And at the end of the day remember the days / When we were close to the end / And wonder how we made it through the night / At the end of the day / Remember the way / We stayed so close to the end / We'll remember it was me and you / CHORUS (x4) /
NOTHING'S
GONNA CHANGE MY LOVE FOR YOU <<
>> Glenn Medeiros
* (Song
Added: August 2002) This is an old song from the 80's I think. I
love it. It's utterly romantic and I dream about the day when a
guy will say this to me (and mean it with all his heart). It's a
beautiful song that makes my eyes watery. It's proof that real-life
Romeos DO exist. It's just a matter of finding them.
If I had to live my life without you near me / The days would all be empty / The nights would seem so long / With you I see forever oh so clearly / I might have been in love before / But it never felt this strong / Our dreams are young / And we both know they'll take us / Where we want to go / CHORUS #1: Hold me now / Touch me now / I don't want to live without you / CHORUS #2: Nothing's gonna change my love for you / You oughta know by now how much I love you / One thing you can be sure of / I'll never ask for more than your love / CHORUS #3: Nothing's gonna change my love for you / You oughta know by now how much I love you / The world may change my whole life through / But nothing's gonna change my love for you / If the road ahead is not so easy / Our love will lead the way for us / Like a guiding star / I'll be there for you if you should need me / You don't have to change a thing / I love you just the way you are / So come with me and share the view / I'll help you see forever too / CHORUS #1 / CHORUS #2 / CHORUS #3 / CHORUS #2 (x2) / CHORUS #3 / CHORUS #2 /
RUNNING <<
>> No Doubt
* (Song
Added: August 2002) When I first heard this song, I thought
"Oh my gosh, it was written for me!" This song sounds
so much like the thoughts that run through my head. Whenever I
get into a relationship with someone, I want to hold on, but
sometimes I worry that my heart will get broken. Gwen Stefani,
the lead singer of No Doubt, sings this song beautifully. It
almost makes me cry because the song is so airy and delicate,
like my broken heart. Well, maybe one day I will find someone who
will love me forever. A love that truly lasts a lifetime is my
ultimate dream. I hope my dream comes true.
Run, running all the time / Running to the future / With you right by my side / Me, I'm the one you chose / Out of all the people / You wanted me the most / And I'm so sorry that I've fallen / Help me up, let's keep on running / Don't let me fall out of love / Running, running as fast as we can / Do you think we'll make it? / Do you think we'll make it? / We're running, keep holding my hand / So we don't get separated / Be, be the one I need / Be the one I trust most / Don't stop inspiring me / Sometimes it's hard to keep on running / We work so much to keep it going / Don't make me want to give up / Running, running as fast as we can / I really hope we make it / Do you think we'll make it? / We're running, keep holding my hand / So we don't get separated / Running as fast as we can / I really hope we make it / Do you think we'll make it? / We're running, keep holding my hand / So we don't get separated / The future / Running, running as fast as we can / Do you think we'll make it? / Do you think we'll make it? / We're running, keep holding my hand / So we don't get separated / Running as fast as we can / I really hope we make it / Do you think we'll make it? / We're running, running, keep holding my hand / So we don't get separated /
MY
WAY OUT <<
>> David Usher
* (Song
Added: July 2002) David has a sweet yet edgy voice and whenever
he sings, I can't help but feel his emotions. This song reminds
me that everyone has their way out of difficult situations. For
me, my way out is through my use of humour, my vivid imagination,
and of course my website.
Standing at the edge / The edge of it all / Spitting off the top / Watch the day unfurl / Cannot see the view from this place / Clouds are on the rise world is out of faith / Took another pill to find my way / Hope that you'll be there / 'Cause this is my way out of it tonight / And this is my last chance to ease the fire / And this is my way out of it tonight / How about you (x2) / Borrowed from a dream / That I use to know / All my friends were there / We watched the world explode / Took another drink to find my way / Just hope that you'll be there / 'Cause this is my way out of it tonight / And this is my last chance to ease the fire / And this is my way out of it tonight / I might find one way to get through / How about you (x3) / And if I could remember / If I could find a place a time the space to see another way home / And if I could forget you / Maybe there's no other way out / No other way out / Standing at the edge [How about you] / The edge of it all [How about you (x3)] / Standing at the edge [How about you] / The edge of it all [How about you (x3)] / 'Cause this is my way out of it tonight / And this is my last chance to ease the fire / And this is my way out of it tonight / I think there's one way to get through / How about you / 'Cause this is my way out of it tonight / And this is my last chance to ease the fire / And this is my way out of it tonight / I might find one way to get through / How about you / 'Cause this is my way out of it tonight / And this is my last chance to ease the fire / And this is my way out of it tonight / I might find one way to get through / How about you (x3) /
SOMEWHERE
OUT THERE <<
>> Our Lady Peace
* (Song
Added: July 2002) Everytime I hear this song it reminds me of a
particular person. (You know who you are)
Last time I talked to you / You were lonely and out of place / You were looking down on me / Lost out in space / Laid underneath the stars / Strung out and feeling brave / Watch the riddles glow / Watch them float away / Down here in the atmosphere / Garbage and city lights / You gotta save your tired soul / You gotta save our lives / Turn on the radio / To find you on satellite / I'm waiting for the sky to fall / I'm waiting for a sign / All we are is all so far / CHORUS: You're falling back to me / The star that I can't see / I know you're out there / Somewhere out there / You're falling out of reach / Defying gravity / I know you're out there / Somewhere out there / Hope you remember me / When you're homesick and need a change / I miss your purple hair / I miss the way you taste / I know you'll come back someday / On a bed of nails awake / I'm praying that you don't burn out / Or fade away / All we are is all so far / CHORUS / You're falling back to me / The star that I can't see / I know you're out there, oh / CHORUS / You're falling back to me / Well I know / I know / You're falling out of reach / I know /
STOP
CRYING YOUR HEART OUT <<
>> Oasis
* This is an
amazing song and it really struck home with my heart.
Hold on (x2) / Don't be scared / You'll never change what's been and gone / May your smile (x2) / Shine on (x2) / Don't be scared (x2) / Your destiny will keep you on / CHORUS: 'Cuz all of the stars / They're fading away / Just try not to worry / You'll see them some day / Take what you need / And be on your way / And stop crying your heart out / Get on (x2) / Come on (x2) / Why you scared? / I'm not scared / You'll never change what's been and gone / CHORUS / 'Cuz all of the stars / They're fading away / Just try not to worry / You'll see them some day / Just take what you need / And be on your way / And stop crying your heart out / Where all of the stars / They're fading away / Just try not to worry / You'll see them some day / Just take what you need / And be on your way / And stop crying your heart out / Stop crying your heart out (x3)
DETECTIVE <<
>> No Doubt
* The song
has a funkiness about it, but then again, it's No Doubt. What did
you expect?
Peek in, sneak about (x3) / Your broken-hearted detective / Hey girl save the liar / Can't you see his pants on fire / Hey girl, save the liar / Can't you see his pants on fire / My back it hurts again / It aches like history / Caught nothing all day long / You're smiling back at me, but / I feel you must have failed me / Once again you've let me down / My confidence below my knees / Now I need to find you out / CHORUS: Peek in, sneak about / I'm gonna snoop and call you out / I've caught you, your hands are red / Now I'm your broken-hearted detective / Hey (x4) / Hey lover why you gone? / Hold on I'm almost there / It's too late you've killed the trust / Don't act so unaware / So why are you so destructive? / Do you realize what you've done? / You can't bring it back to life now / What are you running from? / CHORUS / I don't like the way it feels / I just want you to be real / Hey girl, save the liar / Can't you see his pants on fire? / Hey girl, save the liar / Can't you see his pants on fire? / I'm rummaging through your closet / Imagining all the worst thoughts / CHORUS x2 / Peek in (x5) / Sneak about / I'm gonna snoop and call you out / I've caught you, your hands are red / Now I'm your broken-hearted detective /
LOVE
AT FIRST SIGHT
<<
>> Kylie Minogue
* What a fun
love song. It's so upbeat and lively!
Thought that I was going crazy / Just having one of those days yeah / Didn't know what to do / Then there was you / CHORUS: And everything went from wrong to right / And the stars came out and filled up the sky / The music you were playing really blew my mind / It was love at first sight / 'Cause baby when I heard you / For the first time I knew / We were meant to be as one / Was tired of running out of luck / Thinking 'bout giving up yeah / Didn't know what to do / Then there was you / CHORUS / 'Cause baby when I heard you / For the first time I knew / We were meant to be as one / Everything went from wrong to right / And the stars came out and filled up the sky / The music you were playing really blew my mind / It was love at first sight / Love at first sight (x3) / Love...ooh...It was love, it was love at first sight / 'Cause baby when I heard you / For the first time I knew / We were meant to be as one / To be as one / 'Cause baby when I heard you / For the first time I knew / We were meant to be as one / It was love (repeat until music fades) /
ANYTHING BUT
ORDINARY <<
>> Avril Lavigne
* This is
one of my current favourite songs.
Sometimes I get so weird / I even freak myself out / I laugh myself to sleep / It's my lullaby / Sometimes I drive so fast / Just to feel the danger / I want to scream it makes me feel alive / CHORUS: Is it enough to love / Is it enough to breathe / Somebody rip my heart out and leave me here to bleed / Is it enough to die / Somebody save my life / I'd rather be anything but ordinary please / To walk within the lines would make my life so boring / I want to know that I have been to the extreme / So knock me off my feet / Come on now give it to me / Anything to make me feel alive / CHORUS / Let down your defenses / Use no common sense / If you look you will see / That this world is a beautiful, accident, turbulent, succulent, opulent, permanent / No way / I wanna taste it / Don't wanna waste it away / CHORUS /
COMPLICATED <<
>> Avril Lavigne
* Just be
yourself. Don't go around trying to be someone you're not. This
song is my current ultimate favourite as of May 28th, 2002. Avril
Lavigne is also from Canada!!! I love all her songs on her "Let
Go" album.
Uh huh. Life's like this / Uh huh, uh huh. That's the way it is / Cause life's like this / Uh huh, uh huh that's the way it is / Chill out whatcha yelling' for? Lay back it's all been done before / And if you could only let it be / You will see / I like you the way you are / When we're drivin' in your car / And you're talking to me one on one but you've become / Somebody else 'round everyone else / You're watching your back like you can't relax / You're tryin' to be cool you look like a fool to me / Tell me / CHORUS: Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated? / I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else gets me frustrated / Life's like this you / You fall and you crawl and you break and you take what you get and you turn / It into honesty / And promise me I'm never gonna find ya fake it / No no no / You come over unannounced / Dressed up like you're somethin' else / Where you are ain't where it's at you see / You're making me / Laugh out when you strike your pose / Take off all your preppy clothes / You know you're not fooling anyone / When you become / Somebody else 'round everyone else / You're watching your back, like you can't relax / Trying to be cool you look like a fool to me / Tell me / CHORUS / Chill out whatcha yelling for? / Lay back, it's all been done before / And if you could only let it be / You will see / Somebody else 'round everyone else / You're watching your back, like you can't relax / You're trying to be cool, you look like a fool to me / Tell me / CHORUS x 2 /
BREATHING <<
>> Lifehouse
* I have
loved this song since I first heard it. He's got a great voice
and a great message.
I'm finding my way back to sanity again / Though I don't really know what / I'm going to do when I get there / Take a breath and hold on tight / Spin around one more time / And gracefully fall back to the arms of Grace / CHORUS: 'Cause I am hanging on every word you say / And even if you don't want to speak tonight / That's alright, alright with me / 'Cause I want nothing more than to sit / Outside heaven's door and listen to you breathing / Is where I want to be / Where I want to be / I'm looking past the shadows / In my mind into the truth and / I'm trying to identify / The voices in my head / God which one's you? / Let me feel one more time / What it feels like to feel / And break these calluses off of me / One more time / CHORUS / I don't want a thing from you / Bet you're tired of me waiting / For the scraps to fall / Off of your table to the ground / I just want to be here now / CHORUS x 2 /
DREAMER <<
>> Ozzy Osbourne
* This song
sounds like something I would say. I am a total dreamer and I
wish that all the world's conflicts would just be resolved in a
second. Actually, I hadn't heard many of Ozzy's songs, but when I
heard this one, it really was catchy. I saw the music video for
it and it was kinda weird, but I like the lyrics and melody.
Since the song makes a comment about religious beliefs, I might
as well tell you that I am a practicing Catholic and I also (like
Ozzy) don't discriminate against people, especially when it comes
to religious beliefs.
Gazing through
the window at the world outside / Wondering will mother earth
survive / Hoping that mankind will stop abusing her sometime /
After all there's only just the two of us / And here we are still
fighting for our lives / Watching all of history repeat itself /
Time after time / CHORUS: I'm just a dreamer / I dream my life
away / I'm just a dreamer / Who dreams of better days / I watch
the sun go down like everyone of us / I'm hoping that the dawn
will bring a sign
A better place for those Who will come after us / This time / CHORUS: I'm just a dreamer / I
dream my life away oh yeah / I'm just a dreamer / Who dreams of
better days / Your higher power may be God or Jesus Christ / It
doesn't really matter much to me / Without each others help there
ain't no hope for us / I'm living in a dream of fantasy / Oh yeah,
yeah, yeah / If only we could all just find serenity / It would
be nice if we could live as one / When will all this anger, hate
and biggotry / Be gone? / CHORUS: I'm just a dreamer / I dream my
life away / Today / I'm just a dreamer / Who dreams of better
days / Okay / I'm just a dreamer / Who's searching for the way /
Today / I'm just a dreamer / Dreaming my life away / Oh yeah,
yeah, yeah
EDGE OF THE OCEAN <<
>> Ivy
* I first
heard this song on Roswell, one of my favourite television shows.
It sounds absolutely beautiful. You just have to hear it. It's so
soothing.
There's a place I dream about / Where the sun never goes out / And the sky is deep and blue / Won't you take me there with you / CHORUS: Ohhh, we can begin again / Shed our skin, let the sun shine in / At the edge of the ocean / We can start over again / Sha la la la la la la sha la la sha la la (x2) / There's a world I've always known / Somewhere far away from home / When I close my eyes I see / All the space and mystery / CHORUS /
IN
THE END <<
>> Linkin Park
* This song
expresses how I was feeling a little while ago when I was so
worried, angry and upset about the direction that my boyfriend
and I were going. I was really sad and felt like everything was
in vain. Things between Danny and I are patched up, but I wanted
to post this song anyway, because it marks a significant memory.
It starts with one thing / I don't know why / It doesn't even matter how hard you try / Keep that in mind / I designed this rhyme / To explain in due time / All I know / Time is a valuable thing / Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings / Watch it count down to the end of the day / The clock ticks life away / It's so unreal / Didn't look out below / Watch the time go right out the window / Trying to hold on, but didn't even know / Wasted it all just to watch you go / I kept everything inside and even though I tried, it all fell apart / What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when / CHORUS: I tried so hard / And got so far / But in the end / It doesn't even matter / I had to fall / To lose it all / But in the end / It doesn't even matter / One thing, I don't know why / It doesn't even matter how hard you try / keep that in mind / I designed this rhyme, to remind myself how / I tried so hard / In spite of the way you were mocking me / Acting like I was part of your property / Remembering all the times you fought with me / I'm surprised it got so (far) / Things aren't the way they were before / You wouldn't even recognize me anymore / Not that you knew me back then / But it all comes back to me (in the end) / You kept everything inside and even though I tried, it all fell apart / What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I / CHORUS / I've put my trust in you / Pushed as far as I can go / And for all this / There's only one thing you should know (2x) / CHORUS /
ALONE
IN THE UNIVERSE
<<
>> David Usher
* I love the
way this song sounds. It's so relaxing and David Usher has an
AMAZINGLY soft and at the same time, edgy, voice.
Jamie's on the bathroom floor she don't know why / She's shaking underneath the sink can't feel a thing / She'd love to live a life she's too afraid of failure / With all the voices in her head / Now what was that I thought I heard you scream / CHORUS: I know you can feel it / You're already there / Asleep underwater / Just screaming for air / I know you can feel it / You're already... / Don't you know we're freaks and creatures / Wake up I can almost see the light / I think we're alone here you and I / I think we're alone left wondering why / I think we're alone here you and I / I think we're alone in the universe tonight / Alex on the last train home from God knows where / A million miles away from where he thought he'd be / He's got his suit his tie his drink his mtv / He's trading all his life away / You can't escape we're all infected now / CHORUS /
BEAUTIFUL <<
>> Mandalay
* My very
close friend, Maggie, introduced me to this artist and I fell in
love instantly. All the songs on the Mandalay Solace album are so
soft and relaxing. It's a truly touching song...It's like an
angel's song.
You can depend on certainty / Count it out and weigh it up again / You can be sure you've reached the end / And still you don't feel you know anything / CHROUS: Do you know you're beautiful (x3) / You are / Yes you are / You can ignore what you've become / Take it out and see it die again / You can be here for who's a friend / And still you don't feel / You know about anyone / CHORUS / Innermost thoughts will be understood / You can have all you need / Do you know you're beautiful (x3) You are / Yes you are /
SICK
CYCLE CAROUSEL
<<
>> Lifehouse
* I'm bummed
out lately and this song sums it all pretty much how I'm feeling.
Anyway...Lifehouse is one of my favourite new groups. I love the
'edginess' and depth of their songs. (hehe...Jason is quite cute
and talented toooo!)
If shame had a face I think it would kind of look like mine / If it had a home would it be my eyes / Would you believe me if I said I am tired of this / Now here we go now one more time / CHORUS: I tried to climb your steps / I tried to chase you down / I tried to see how low I could get down to the ground / I tried to earn my way / I tried to change this mind / You better believe that I tried to beat this / So when will this end / It goes on and on / Over and over and over again / Keep spinning around / I know it won't stop till I step down from this for good / I never thought I'd end up here / I never thought I'd be standing where I am / I guess I kind of thought that it would be easier than this / I guess I was wrong now one more time / CHORUS / Sick cycle carousel / This is a sick cycle, yeah / Sick cycle carousel / This is a sick cycle, yeah / CHORUS / Where will this end it goes on and on / Over and over and over again / Keep spinning around I know that it won't stop / Till I step down from this for good / Sick cycle carousel...(repeat to end of song) /
FLAVOR
OF THE WEAK <<
>> American Hi-Fi
* Sometimes
whether we realize it or not, we treat others like the flavour of
the week. In that instance, we become weak and fall into the dark
realm of human nature. We need to curb it.
She paints her nails, and she don't know / He's got her best friend on the phone / She'll wash her hair, his dirty clothes / Are all he gives to her / And he's got posters on the wall / Of all the girls he wished she was / And he means everything to her / CHORUS: Her boyfriend, he don't know / anything, about her / He's too stoned, Nintendo / I wish that I could make her see / She's just the flavor of the weak / It's Friday night, and she's all alone / He's a million miles away / She's dressed to kill but the tv's on / He's connected to the sound / And he's got pictures on the wall / of all the girls he's loved before / And she knows all his favorite songs / CHORUS /
DESTINY <<
>> Jim Brickman
* "Our
song" - This is for you, Danny. (Note: I dedicated this song
to Danny when we used to be boyfriend and girlfriend. We're just

What if I never knew / What if I never found you / I'd never have this feeling in my heart / How did this come to be? / I don't know how you found me / But from the moment I saw you / Deep inside my heart I knew / CHORUS: Baby you're my destiny / You and I were meant to be / With all my heart and soul / I give my love to have and hold / And as far as I can see / You were always meant to be / My destiny / I wanted someone like you / Someone that I could hold onto / And give my love until the end of time / But forever was just a word / Something I'd only heard about / But now you're always there for me / When you say forever, I believe / CHORUS / Maybe all we need / Is just a little faith / 'Cuz baby I believe / That love will find the way / CHORUS / From now until eternity / You were always meant to be / My destiny / You're my destiny /

AMERICAN
PSYCHO <<
>> Treble Charger
* This song
reminds me to be myself and not try to be someone I'm not. I
dedicate the song to all those who struggle to be themselves.
What's the problem with the human race / With someone like you / No matter where I turn / I can't escape your double face / Don't want to listen to the radio / Cause they don't know / Or stick around just to hear I told you so / How could we make it without you / I should have known better to doubt you / I thought I'd heard the end of it / CHORUS: And now I know how far you'd go / To be the next freak show / American psycho / Cover of the magazines / Patron Saint to troubled teens / Wish I never heard your name / Tomorrow could be just another day / Means nothing to you / A misdemeanor or a felony, that's ok / Don't want to wait for a second chance / So take a stance / It's your turn for the spotlight, the big dance / CHORUS / What am I supposed to do / When you know that it's all true / That you stole, that you lied / That you knew / Primadonna self absorbed / Wide awake and never bored / Party binge and purge / And see results of plastic surgery / Spotted at the hottest shows / Interview on Charlie Rose / They all want a piece of you / CHORUS /
WHY
DON'T YOU LOVE ME? <<
>> Amanda Marshall
* This song
reminds me about a frustrating point in my life when I loved
someone, but the love wasn't returned.
Why am I lonely / You're sitting right here / Why am I talking / It's like I'm talking to the air / What am I looking for / That just isn't there / Why am I angry / How'd it get so bad / And why am I missing / What we never really had / CHORUS: Why don't you love me / The way I love you / Why don't you feel things / As deep as I do / We've got a fundamental difference / In matters of emotion / But I need to feel you need me / Like a river needs an ocean / Baby why don't you love me / Who am I kidding / It wasn't meant to be / But you wanted a believer / And I needed to believe / For every wall you built around you / I learned a brand new way to climb / And if I could've been your angel / I would've found a way to fly / CHORUS / SOLO / I don't understand you / What's it take to make you cry / And if leaving you don't break you / Then baby what's it matter why / CHORUS /
FROM
A DISTANCE <<
>> Bette Midler
* Reminding
us all that God is watching everything we do, so we'd better do
something good.
From a distance the world looks blue and green / And the snow-capped mountains white / From a distance the ocean meets the stream / And the eagle takes to flight. / From a distance, there is harmony / And it echoes through the land. / It's the voice of hope, it's the voice of peace / It's the voice of every man / From a distance we all have enough / And no one is in need / And there are no guns, no bombs, and no disease / No hungry mouths to feed / From a distance we are instruments / Marching in a common band / Playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace / They're the songs of every man / God is watching us. God is watching us / God is watching us from a distance / From a distance you look like my friend / Even though we are at war / From a distance I just cannot comprehend / What all this fighting is for / From a distance there is harmony / And it echoes through the land / And it's the hope of hopes, it's the love of loves / It's the heart of every man / It's the hope of hopes, it's the love of loves / This is the song of every man / And God is watching us, God is watching us / God is watching us from a distance / Oh, God is watching us, God is watching / God is watching us from a distance /
HERE
WITH ME <<
>> Dido
* Hehe...I
just love that show Roswell (this is the theme song to it)......also
Dido is pretty good.
I didn't hear you leave, I wonder how am I still here / I don't want to move a thing, it might change my memory / Oh I am what I am, I'll do what I want, but I can't hide / I won't go, I won't sleep, I can't breathe, until you're resting here with me / I won't leave, I can't hide, I cannot be, until you're resting here with me / I don't want to call my friends, they might wake me from this dream / And I can't leave this bed, risk forgetting all that's been / Oh I am what I am, I'll do what I want but I can't hide / I won't go, I won't sleep, I can't breathe until you're resting here with me / I won't leave, I can't hide, I cannot be, until you're resting here with me /
DARK
HORSE <<
>> Amanda Marshall
* I just
love Amanda Marshall.
Indian summer / Abilene / You were new in town / I was nineteen / And sparks flew / They called us crazy / Behind our backs / "Romantic fools" / We just let them laugh / Because we knew / It may be a long shot / We may be lonely down the line / But love knows no reason / And I won't let them make up my mind / CHORUS: My money's riding on this dark horse, baby / My heart is sayin' it's the lucky one / And its true colour's gonna shine through someday / If we let this / Let this dark horse run / Stars are brighter / In a desert sky / No need to wonder / Or justify / Where this will lead / I wear your locket / Our picture's inside / Inscription says, "The joy's in the ride" / And I believe / Something so sacred / Is something worth this kind of fight / Cause love knows no patience / You can't please everyone all the time / CHORUS / So sweet / Together baby / We can be free / CHORUS REPEAT /
FOREVER
YOUNG <<
>> Alphaville
* This is
such a classic song. I love it. It has a sound that is so
distinctively the 1980's.
Let's dance in style / Let's dance for a while / Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies / Hoping for the best but expecting the worst / Are you going to drop the bomb or not / Let us die young or let us live forever / We don't have the power but we never say never / Sitting in a sandpit / Life is a short trip / The music's for the sad men / Can you imagine when this race is won / Turn our golden faces into the sun / Praising our leaders we're getting in tune / The music's played by the madmen / Forever young / I want to be forever young / Do you really want to live forever / Forever and ever / Some are like water / Some are like the heat / Some are a melody and some are the beat / Sooner or later they all will be gone / Why don't they stay young / It's so hard to get old without a cause / I don't want to perish like a fading horse / Youth is like diamonds in the sun / And dimonds are forever / So many adventures couldn't happen today / So many songs we forgot to play / So many dreams are swinging out of the blue / We let them come true /
