The Songs Within Us

Songs have an impact on our lives. They remind us of special times that we shared. They express how we feel about something, without actually having to say it in black and white. They can depress us or they can uplift us. Songs have the power to unleash and provoke our perceptions and emotions. Below are the lyrics to a FEW songs that have or had a strong impact on my life. I will post up different lyrics from time to time. - Mary Shaw -

CITY NOISE <<
>> Scarling
* (Song Added November 2005) This song comes from Scarling's 2005 album entitled "So Long Scarecrow." This song is catchy and reminds me a little bit of Shirley Manson and Garbage.

Another crowded dance floor / Another empty glass / Another failed hello / It’s your alibi / Another splendid lie / It’s the bruises that you can’t show / It’s another lonely sunset / Another starless sky / The nervousness inside / It’s the final kiss from a lover’s fist / It’s the reason why you can’t cry / It's a violent reaction / The mixtape in your heart / The answer that you should know / How we complicate, a simple mistake / It’s the face you make when I go / CHORUS: And we tried to change / The city noise made us strange / So we plugged our ears and learned to fight / We set the stage but we could not engage so we cut all ties by candlelight / Change (x3) / Another deep depression / The calm before the storm / The shaking in your head / How you sacrificed - how you paid the price / All the words you wish you had said / It’s the rawest of emotions / Drinking to forget - names written in the snow / It’s the anxious feel - purging your last meal / It’s the secret that you can’t know / Chorus / Change (x8) / Chorus /

BAND-AID COVERS THE BULLET HOLE <<
>> Scarling
* (Song Added November 2005) The melancholy message is presented in a cavity-inducing, sugary delivery, which makes it a little creepy and even more fascinating.

Bees in the caramel and I'm not afraid / Surgeons make incisions / What a mess they've made / Tearing at my skin leaving knives in my brain / Stabbing at the voices making me insane / Girls vomit candy and lies that they're fed / Boys whisper lullabies and wet their beds / Eat TV violence on the toast that they spread / Talking with their mouths full here is what they've said / CHORUS: Say hello to my little friend / The world is getting ugly / And we did it again / Say hello to my little friend / The world is getting ugly / And we did it again / Ohh Uh Ohh / The band-aid only covers the bullet hole / Ohh uh ohh the band-aid only covers the bullet hole / La (x9) / Spinders in my hair and guns on my mind / Thinking about the people who've been so unkind / If looks could kill them / I might make myself blind / Startled at the reasons that I just can't find / Kids break the dishes they crash on the floor / Parents hate the noise and shove them out the door / Robots steal emotions hide them under their beds / It gets them all excited / Here is what they've said / Chorus / The band-aid only covers the bullet hole / La (x9) / Blah (x8) /

JOHNNY FALLS <<
>> Hedley
* (Song Added November 2005) This is a great song to sing along with when you're in the kind of mood where you don't want to put up with any bullshit from an idiot who doesn't deserve to poison you with negativity. Hedley's frontman, Jacob Hoggard is a Canadian rock-and-roller who has a distinctively sexy voice, outrageous personality, and makes-you-weak-in-the-knees looks.

Johnny falls / He throws his hands / Into the air / Into these walls / He's freakin out / He's got a gun / He'll get his way / He'll have his fun / You make a mess / You bruise my name / Try to cut me down with every word you say / If you wreck my day (x2 ) / You son of a bitch you're gonna get some / CHORUS: And I'm tired / Of this stupid game / Running in circles from you again / Don't blame me / For what I gotta do / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Johnny runs / He shuts his eyes / He only sees / From nine to five / Don't let him down / He's got a gun / He'll get his way / He'll have his fun / All you wannabes / Don't have what it takes / To take a shot at me / To put me in my place / If you wreck my day (x2 ) / You son of a bitch you're gonna get some / Chorus / Don't push me / Don't blame me / Or you'll be sorry / You're not getting through / I'm gonna back down / As of right now / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Whoa (x3) / See me cry / See me smile / See me fall / See me cry / Yeah / Chorus / Don't push me / Don't blame me / Or you'll be sorry / You're not getting through / I won't back down / As of right now / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Whoa (x3) / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Whoa (x3) / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Whoa (x3) / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Whoa (x3) / I won't hate myself to be loved by you / Whoa /

OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD <<
>> KT Tunstall
* (Song Added August 2005) I came across this artist by accident, but it was such a pleasant surprise. Her voice is sweet, yet it still has a slight edge. This song is mellow-melancholy pop-rock. I'm going to buy her album entitled "Eye to the Telescope." I've heard only a few songs from her so far and this was the one that really spoke to me. It would be extremely interesting if Emm Gryner and KT Tunstall collaborated on a song. The brain-child of their creative efforts would be no less than brilliance. Online biographies on KT say that she is "a sparkling new songwriter with Chinese blood, a Scottish heart, great legwarmers and a cool name." I am Chinese/Scottish/Irish, so KT and I might have something in common and that's neat, because the mix is pretty uncommon.

Over the sea and far away / She's waiting like an Iceberg / Waiting to change / But she's cold inside / She wants to be like the water / All the muscles tighten in her face / Buries her soul in one embrace / They're one and the same / Just like water / CHORUS: Then the fire fades away / But most of everyday / Is full of tired excuses / But it's too hard to say / I wish it were simple / But we give up easily / You're close enough to see that / You're the other side of the world / To me / On comes the panic light / Holding on with fingers / And feelings alike / But the time has come / To move along / Chorus / Can you help me / Can you let me go / And can you still love me / When you can't see me anymore / Then the fire fades away / Most of everyday / Is full of tired excuses / But it's too hard to say / I wish it were simple / But we give up easily / You're close enough to see that / You're the other side of the world / Oh the other side of the world / You're the other side of the world / To me /

COME ON EILEEN <<
>> Save Ferris
* (Song Added August 2005) This song is beyond funktified craziness. It starts out with a 'big band' sound with trumpets. How fun is that? It's so catchy, with its ska style and changing tempo. I can't stop humming this song and it is far from generic, contemporary music.

Come on Eileen (x2) / Poor old Johnny Ray / Sounded sad upon the radio / He moved a million hearts in mono / Our mothers used to sing along / Who'd blame them / You're grown (So grown up) / So grown (so grown up) / Now I must say more than ever (come on Eileen) / Toora loora toora loo rye aye / And we can sing just like our fathers / CHORUS: Come on Eileen / Oh I swear what he means / At this moment, you mean everything / With you in that dress / Oh my thoughts I confess / Verge on dirty / Ah come on Eileen / Come on Eileen / These people 'round here wear beaten down eyes / Sunk in smoke dried faces / They're so resigned to what their fate is / But not us (no not us) / No not us (no never) / We are far too young and clever / Remember / Toora loora toora loo rye aye / Eileen I'll hum this tune forever / Toora loora toora loo rye aye / I'll hum this tune forever / Come on Eileen / Oh I swear (what he means) / Ah come on, let's take off everything / That pretty red dress / Oh I need to confess / Oh come on let's / Oh come on Eileen / Come on Eileen / Oh I swear what he means / At this moment you mean everything / Come on Eileen too loo rye aye (x2) / Toora toora too loo rye / Oh Eileen / I said come on Eileen / We are far too young and clever / Things won't ever change / Toora loora toora loo rye aye / Come on Eileen / Oh I swear what he means / At this moment you mean everything to mean / Oh to me / Whoa / Eileen / You mean everything /

VAMPIRES <<
>> Fastball
* (Song Added June 2005) I love this song because it gives off such a mystical, sensual vibe (at least it does for me). The lead singer's voice is so sexy! It's an oldie and a goodie from the album "The Harsh Light of Day."

She will bring a little box of moonlight / To light my way on such a very dark night / Dreams so real they grow wild on the vine / Until sundown, when she comes / She comes just like a daydream / And the sun surrenders to the evening / I've waited all day long to be with you girl / We'll burn like falling stars tonight / And hide like vampires from the daylight / Until sundown / Dreams so real they grow wild on the vine / We'll burn like falling stars tonight / And hide like vampires from the daylight / And our world comes alive at night / And like the stars, we'll shine so bright / As long as you are mine (x2) /

THINKING IN REVERSE <<
>> The Dissociatives
* (Song Added April 2005) I've been waiting for The Dissociatives' self-titled album to be released to Canada for a year or so. At one point, the imported version was available to purchase only at amazon.ca for around $45 CDN!!! It was atrocious! I was waiting for the longest time for the price to come down....and now, finally a version has been released for Canadians and I got mine for around $13.99 CDN from chapters.ca. You've gotta love the collaboration between Silverchair's Daniel Johns and Paul Mac. The result is a unique musical twist for your ears and your creativity. If you feel like vomitting from the amount of mainstream music shoved down your throats, this will be a welcome change. For a long time, I've thought that Daniel Johns is a lyrical, musical genius!!!

Now that everything's in place / You're lining up the pins / And needles down the longest trail / You've got the answer but it lasts / As long as you can smile but pretty soon your cheeks will hurt / CHORUS: I'm not trying to make things worse / But you're thinking in reverse / Now that everything is never too much / I'm not trying to make things worse / But you're thinking in reverse / Now that everything is never too much / Take the standard line and turn / It back upon itself to see what hurt is once you've felt / 'Cuz we've been numb like corridors / And dry like tumbleweed / This hospital's my favourite church / Chorus / And I got it alright / To see what I can see is taking over me / And I got it alright / To see what I can see is taking over me / Chorus / I'm not trying to make things worse (repeated until end of song) /

WE' RE MUCH PREFERRED CUSTOMERS <<
>> The Dissociatives
* (Song Added April 2005) This song has such a space, out of this world sound, punctuated with the voice of Daniel Johns that will certainly give you goosebumps that only outstanding music can give you.

We're much preferred customers / Welcome to planet pod / Where insects sound like lasers / And men who wear abrasive hats / With eyeballs judge like juries / And skin that flakes like ancient paint / Suffocate contentment / Birds creep over tin roofs / Like criminals with tap shoes / Stain the glass with windows / Extortionate and cold stare / We're much preferred customers / And honestly I don't care / You'll get a chance, another chance, one more sun (x8) / Drape the concrete curtains, over empty spaces / Age is just a number drawn on empty faces / Stain the glass with windows / Extortionate and cold stare / We're much preferred customers / And honestly I don't care / You'll get a chance, another chance, one more sun (x8) / Sun (x3) /

MARY <<
>> Scissor Sisters
* (Song Added March 2005) Gee, I wonder why I like this song....*smirk* Could it be because MY name is Mary AND it's a melodramatic love song? I think so...hehe

I love the tone that's in your laugh / Gasping for an extra breath / Waiting for the time to pass / I believe in days ahead / Don't spend another night alone / Cross and wishing you were dead / CHORUS: Mary, you shouldn't let 'em make you mad / You hold the best you can / And Mary, after all the pain is gone / I'm always gonna live to be your man / I've had it easy now you see / When I'm down you're always there / Standing by to comfort me / Someday we'll go 'round the world / I'll make the journey so sublime / I know you're not a travelin' girl / Chorus / 'Cause I'd give everything I have / Forget all the things that bring me joy / If you could have one day / Pure and simple happiness / Until that moment comes / I'll be here where I've always been / I'm gonna be your friend / Until the day I die / Chorus / Hold on /

LET ME GO <<
>> 3 Doors Down
* (Song Added March 2005) This a good song for when you're feeling melancholy. Of course, the bad thing is that this song can intensify your gloom....

One more kiss could be the best thing / But one more lie could be the worst / And all these thoughts are never resting / And you're not something I deserve / In my head there's only you now / This world falls on me / In this world there's real and make believe / And this seems real to me / CHORUS: You love me but you don't know who I am / I'm torn between this life I lead and where I stand / And you love me but you don't know who I am / So let me go / Let me go / I dream ahead to what I hope for / And I turn my back on loving you / How can this love be a good thing / When I know what I'm going through / In my head there's only you now / This world falls on me / In this world there's real and make believe / And this seems real to me / Chorus / Just let me go / Let me go / And no matter how hard I try / I can't escape these things inside I know / I know / When all the pieces fall apart / You will be the only one who knows / Who knows / Chorus / Just let me go / And you love me but you don't / You love me but you don't / You love me but you don't know who I am / And you love me but you don't / You love me but you don't / You love me but you don't know me /

COLLIDE <<
>> Howie Day
* (Song Added March 2005) This is a nice song of tragic, ambivalent mellowness.

The dawn is breaking / A light shining through / You're barely waking / And I'm tangled up in you / Yeah / But I'm open, you're closed / Where I follow, you'll go / I worry I won't see your face / Light up again / Even the best fall down sometimes / Even the wrong words seem to rhyme / Out of the doubt that fills my mind / I somehow find / You and I collide / I'm quiet you know / You make a first impression / But I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind / Even the best fall down sometimes / Even the stars refuse to shine / Out of the back you fall in time / You somehow find / You and I collide / Don't stop here / I've lost my place / I'm close behind / Even the best fall down sometimes / Even the wrong words seem to ryhme / Out of the doubt that fills your mind / You finally find / You and I collide / You finally find / You and I collide / You finally find / You and I collide /

BREATHE <<
>> Moist
* (Song Added January 2005) This is a beautiful melodramatic song. Sometimes we all get in a sad rut and there's nothing that anyone can do to bring us up in that particular time. Sometimes, we just have to bring ourselves up.

Save / Save me from this / Wanderin' 'round the town / All the thousand things / I might miss / And you / Think we'll suffer much / Think we'll close our eyes / Just to see the light / Pass us by / With tomorrow comin' / Hope that I don't / Let you down again / Said I'm so glad to be here / Does it mean a thing / If only I could breathe / What you breathe / If only I could see what you see / So sit / We'll take our time / Watching the flowers grow / All the friends we've known / Say goodbye / And you / Did you suffer much / Did you close your eyes / Just to see the night / Rush on by / Gathered all around you / Hope that we don't / Let you down again / I said I'm so glad to be here / Does it mean a thing / If only I could breathe / What you breathe / If only I could see what you see / Said I'm so glad to be here / Does it mean a thing / If only I could breathe / What you breathe / If only I could see what you see / If only I could just believe a thing /

THE REAL THING <<
>> Gwen Stefani
* (Song Added January 2005) This reminds me of songs from the 1980s...and I love the upbeat lyrics...Awwww.....it reminds me of my boyfriend! *warm fuzzies*

I've seen your face a thousand times / Have all your stories memorized / I've kissed your lips a million ways / But I still love to have you around / I've held you too many times to count / I think I know you inside out / And we're together most days / But I still love to have you around / CHORUS: You're the one I want and it's not just a phase / And you're the one I trust / Our love is the real thing / Don't go away / My love (my love) / I want you to stay / In my life / Don't go away / My lover (my love) / I'm happiest when we spend time / You're a salty water ocean wave / You knock me down, you kiss my face / I know the storms will always come / But I still love to have you around / And Heaven knows what will come next / So emotional, you're so complex / A rollercoaster built to crash / But I still love to have you around / Chorus / (It's only you and I) x2 / It's you there when I close my eyes / And you in the morning / I never thought you'd still be mine / Or I'd really need to have you around / Don't go away / My love (my love) / I want you to stay / In my life / Don't go away / My lover (my love) / I need you, you're my love supply / Don't go away / My love (you're my love supply) / I want you to stay / In my life (every day, every night) / Don't go away / My love (you're my love supply) / I need you, you're my love supply /

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA <<
>> Emmy Rossum & Gerard Butler
* (Song Added January 2005) I recently saw the major motion picture this month and was blown away with the music and plot!

In sleep he sang to me / In dreams he came / That voice which calls to me / And speaks my name / And do I dream again / For now I find / The phantom of the opera is there / Inside my mind / Sing once again with me / Our strange duet / My power over you / Grows stronger yet / And though you turn from me / To glance behind / The phantom of the opera is there / Inside your mind / Those who have seen your face / Draw back in fear / I am the mask you wear / It's me they hear / My (Your) spirit and my (your) voice / In one combined / The phantom of the opera is there / Inside my (your) mind / Is that the phantom of the opera / Beware the phantom of the opera / Sing my angel of music / Sing my angel / Sing for me / Sing / Sing my angel / Sing for me /

SOMEBODY TOLD ME <<
>> The Killers
* (Song Added December 2004) This song is constantly playing in my head and whenever it's on the radio, I find myself singing along with the chorus. It's so damn catchy!

Breaking my back just to know your name / Seventeen tracks and I've had it with this game / I'm breaking my back just to know your name / But heaven ain't close in a place like this / Anything goes but don't blink, you might miss / 'Cause heaven ain't close in a place like this / I said heaven ain't close in a place like this / Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight / Never thought I'd let a rumour ruin my moonlight / CHORUS: Somebody told me you had a boyfriend / Who looked like a girlfriend / That I had in February of last year / It's not confidential, I've got potential / Ready let's roll onto something new / Takin' its toll and I'm leaving without you / I'm ready let's roll onto something new / Well heaven ain't close in a place like this / 'Cause heaven ain't close in a place like this / I said heaven ain't close in a place like this / Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight / Never thought I'd let a rumour ruin my moonlight / Chorus / Rushin' a rushin' around / Pace yourself for me / I said maybe, baby, please / But I just don't know now / When all I wanna do is try / Chorus / Rushin' a rushin' around / Chorus / Rushin' a rushin' around / Chorus / Rushin' a rushin' around /

LUXURIOUS <<
>> Gwen Stefani
* (Song Added December 2004) I anxiously anticipated many of Gwen's songs on her debut solo album, however was pretty disappointed with many of the tracks. Of the small handful that I DID like, this was one. The melody is so old-school....love it, although the lyrics aren't her best.

CHORUS 1: Working so hard every night and day / And now we get the pay back / Trying so hard saving up the paper / Now we get to lay back / Working so hard every night and day / And now we get the pay back / The pay back (x2) / Champagne kisses hold me in your lap of luxury / I only want to fly first class desires, you're my limousine / So elegant the way we ride, our passion it just multiplies / There's platinum lightning in the sky / Look I'm livin' like a queen / CHORUS 2: This kind of love is getting expensive / We know how to live baby / We're luxurious like Egyptian cotton / We're so rich in love we're rollin' in cashmere / Got it in fifth gear baby / Diamond in the rough is lookin' so sparkly / Chorus 1 / Sugar, honey, sexy baby / When we touch it turns to gold / Sensitive and delicate, kinda like a tuberose / You know you are my treasure chest / It's pure perfection when we kiss and you're my Mr. I'm your Miss / Gonna be until we're old / Chorus 2 / Chorus 1 (x2) / Cha-ching (x2) / We're loaded and we're not gonna blow it / Cha-ching (x2) / We're hooked up with the love 'cause we grow it / Cha-ching (x2) / We got hydroponic love and we're smokin' / Cha-ching (x2) / We burn it you and I, we are so lit / We're so rich in love we're rollin' in cashmere / Got it in fifth gear baby / Diamond in the rough is lookin' so sparkly / Chorus 1 /

I BLEED <<
>> Hedley
* (Song Added November 2004) This group has a very interesting eclectic sound and they're pretty flexible, being able to play many different types of songs too. Of course, Jacob Hoggard (the lead singer of the group) puts the stars in my eyes....hehehe.....*sigh*

Can't stand breathing this cold stale air / Can't stand to stand seeming and care / I was once a child like you seem / Free and beautiful carelessly / No, no, no, no / CHORUS: So forget what I said about me and tomorrow / I'm on top of this world and I don't need your sorrow / It's all me can't you see where I bleed / We're all human so you know where I go / For how long and how low / How long (x2) / Maybe reaching is that stronger / Maybe waiting seeming seems that longer / Simple little turns don't phase me / Simple little words amaze me / Chorus / Step right it up it's for free / So step right up / Defame me / So step right up / It's for free / So step right up / Defame me / Chorus (x2) /

MISTAKES I MADE <<
>> Fran Lucci
* (Song Added November 2004) I first heard this song while watching an episode from my Felicity season 3 dvd set. This is such a sweet, frail song....so much vulnerability.

It really is a miracle that I have come this far / Without a hope without a prayer without a guiding star / In spite of my nativity and many dreams betrayed / I know I would not be here now but for mistakes I made / CHORUS: But for mistakes I made / Who knows who I would be / Some other heart some other soul / Some other destiny / But for the times I took a wrong turn unafraid / I might have missed it all / But for mistakes I made / So many times I've tried to change things out of my control / The jealousy and all the rage that swallowed me up whole / The years that I spent loving those who did not feel the same / The times I didn't trust myself with only me to blame / Chorus / These things have taught me what is real / How to laugh how to cry how to love without regret and when to say hello or goodbye / I know whatever comes my way my dues have all been paid / For you would not be in my life, but for mistakes I made / Chorus / I might have missed it all / But for mistakes I made /

TROUBLED TIMES <<
>> Fountains of Wayne
* (Song Added September 2004) Whenever I feel sad, I listen to this song and I sing along with it at the top of my lungs. This is one of the best songs for wallowing.

When you think you've found something worth holding onto / Were you reaching for attention, hoping she would notice you / Collecting bottles and thrown-away cans / Like she was returnable / One day would refill your hands / How she loved you, all you imagined / Fit so well into your plans / CHORUS: Maybe one day soon / It'll all come out / How you dream about each other sometimes / With a memory of / How you once gave up / But you made it through the troubled times / Pining away every hour in your room / Rolling with the motion, waiting 'til it's opportune / Sitting there watching time fly past you / Why do tomorrow / What you could never do / How she loved you / All you imagined / All the shit you put her through / Chorus / And it takes a lot of nerve to ask how she is doing / Start with a weak foundation, you will end in ruins / The way the days and hours pass you'll never understand / Falling like rain through your hands / Chorus /

THE CLOSEST THING TO CRAZY <<
>> Katie Melua
* (Song Added September 2004) Katie has such a sweet, demure, angellic voice. I don't know much about this artist. I saw the music video for this song when I was flipping through the channels. What can I say? Even though I listen to pretty much every single music genre under the sun, I am a sucker for a good love song, especially when it's slow. The melody is very soothing and calm (think Dido- and Norah Jones-like and VERY mellow). It's definitely not a song to dance wildly to wearing only your panties and a feather boa. *Smirk* It's more the kind you listen to when you want to daydream and reminisce about the love in your life or one from the past.

How can I think I'm standing strong / Yet feel the air beneath my feet? / How can happiness feel so wrong? / How can misery feel so sweet? / How can you let me watch you sleep / Then break my dreams the way you do? / How can I have got in so deep? / Why did I fall in love with you? / CHORUS: This is the closest thing to crazy I have ever been / Feeling twenty-two, acting seventeen / This is the nearest thing to crazy I have ever known / I was never crazy on my own / And now I know that there's a link between the two / Being close to craziness and being close to you / How can you make me fall apart / Then break my fall with loving lies? / It's so easy to break a heart / It's so easy to close your eyes / How can you treat me like a child / Yet like a child I yearn for you? / How can anyone feel so wild? / How can anyone feel so blue? / Chorus / And being close to you / And being close to you /

DIRTY WINGS <<
>> Megan Slankard
* (Song Added August 2004) This singer isn't popular and I can't understand why she isn't. She has such a beautiful voice and she is an amazing songwriter. This is one of my favourite songs of hers. It's so catchy.

"Those soles are comfort" / She said "that's credit card" / New shoes walking home / She don't own a car car car / She turns the lights off / Electric bill is high / She's glad Harry's out / 'Cause she hates to cry cry cry / Under these dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her fly / And under these dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her fly / "Give me some reasons not just enough is enough" / She pricks her skin / From thinking she could take too much / “Just a damn fairy tale” / She laughs outside / She can’t keep it up / Sleeping girl has to close her eyes / Under these dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her fly / And under his dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her hide / The city sings like sirens / Is melting in the wind / Fading when it is exposed to sun / Turning on the shower / She is melting in the water / She is fading in the moonlight / Turning into mud / Under these dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her fly / And under these dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her fly / And under these dirty skies / Her dirty wings they let her fly / Let her fly /

TOO BAD YOU <<
>> Megan Slankard
* (Song Added August 2004) As you can tell, I'm pretty excited about Megan Slankard's music. I don't think I've ever been as excited about an artist since I found out about Emm Gryner (who still is my ultimate favourite artist). After bombarding myself with Megan's music, I think that she comes in at a close second though. I actually think that she has bumped Silverchair down to my third favourite...and that is just incredible!!!!!!!

It’s too bad Idon’t like you anymore / Yes it’s too bad / But my novel is gonna need an evil villain / It’s too bad we kinda fell apart / We had somethin’ going / And I wonder what it ever was that happened / We were an experiment / To the neighbours, a little bet / To see how well and long you’d last / Can you blame us? / It’s too bad / You saw me naked / Too bad “I love you” / Don’t mean anything / Ever again / CHORUS: It’s too bad you / think you’re so cool / As the raven tells you / We’re never more / So what’s the score? / And who wins? / It’s too bad you think you look so good / Yeah you and Brad Pitt / But now I think you’re just a little bit pretentious / It’s too bad you hate the way I laugh / You think it’s phony / But sometimes this can be so damn / Hilarious / It’s too bad / You saw me naked / Too bad “I love you” / Don’t mean anything / Ever again / You never have problems, oh puhlease / Start expecting the police / We’ve become “that couple down the street” / Can you blame us? /

MOCKING BIRD <<
>> Megan Slankard
* (Song Added August 2004) All three of these songs come from her latest album entitled "Freaky Little Story." I ordered mine through Amazon.ca and it was a reasonable price. I also ordered her debut album "Lady is a Pirate." It should be really good too.

If I were a mocking bird / I’d mock you / In soft winds / And silent words / I’d spot you / Like snow blushing in the sunlight / And I’d melt you / Like morning into twilight / If I were a mocking bird / Would you chain me / In view of the endless sky world / From the window / Wind reaches, desperate, through the cage bars / To seize me / And I’d die in your arms / But not your heart / If it please you / Fire flies and so do I / I fly high to hide in flight / Why, I delight in blue sky / It’s almost like dying / Mocking bird / I’d fly all around / Top of the world / And never come down / From here / If I were a mocking bird / I’d give you feathers / And my very own blood / And other treasures / Which you keep on your dresser at night / In corner darkness / By the candle that you never light / Though it be moonless / Fire flies, so do I / I fly to hide in flight / Why, I delight in blue sky / It’s so much, so much like dying / Against the tide / I’d fly all around / With the wind / And never come down / From here / Fire flies, so do I / I fly high to hide in flight / I delight in windy sky / It’s almost so much like dying / Fire flies, so do I / I fly high to ride like kites / Why, I delight in blue sky / It is almost so much like dying / If I were a mocking bird / I’d fly all around / To the top of the world / And never come down / From here /

DON' T STAY <<
>> Linkin Park
* (Song Added June 2004) Linkin Park has an eclectic sound and if you like "heavier" music, you've gotta love Chester's voice.

Sometimes I need to remember just to breathe / Sometimes I need you to stay away from me / Sometimes I'm in disbelief, I didn't know / Somehow I need you to go / CHORUS: Don't stay / Forget our memories / Forget our possibilities / What you were changing me into / Just give me myself back and don't stay / Forget our memories / Forget our possibilities / Take all your faithlessness with you / Just give me myself back and don't stay / Sometimes I feel like I trusted you too well / Sometimes I just feel like screaming at myself / Sometimes I'm in disbelief, I didn't know / Somehow I need to be alone / Chorus / I don't need you anymore, don't want to be ignored / I don't need one more day, of you wasting me away / I don't need you anymore, I don't want to be ignored / I don't need one more day, of you wasting me away / With no apologies / Chorus / Don't stay (x2) /

FALL TO PIECES <<
>> Avril Lavigne
* (Song Added May 2004) I got over the novelty of her debut album a few months after it was released, but I'm glad that I purchased her latest album "Under My Skin." While I don't think that her lyrics are THAT deep (if you want deep, abstract, and artistic, check out Silverchair's "Diorama"), I do think that she has grown as an artist. I enjoy this 2nd album of hers much more than her first. While Avril says that this album contains much darker material than her debut album, I think that is somewhat exaggerated. Yes, her lyrics ellicit more complex emotions, but the lyrics/music is far from dark. It really depends on what you think "dark music" means. When I think "dark", I think of the heavy sounds of Marilyn Manson. To me, Avril Lavigne is still pop-rock, but more rock now and less pop than before. This song was written by Avril Lavigne and Raine Maida (lead singer of Our Lady Peace). Raine put so much of his personal style into this song that I can actually imagine him singing this song instead of Avril. Still though, she does a good job at capturing the feeling. This song reminds me of someone in particular.....*sigh*

I looked away / Then I looked back at you / You tried to say / Things that you can't undo / If I had my way / I'd never get over you / Today's the day / I pray that we make it through / Make it through the fall / Make it through it all / And / CHORUS: I don't want to fall to pieces / I just want to sit and stare at you / I don't want to talk about it / I don't want a conversation / I just want to cry in front of you / I don't want to talk about it / 'Cause I'm in love with you / You're the only one / I'd be with 'til the end / When I come undone / You bring me back again / Back under the stars / Back into your arms / And / Chorus / Want to know who you are / Want to know where to start / I want to know what this means / Want to know how you feel / Want to know what is real / I want to know everything, everything / Chorus (x2) / I'm in love with you / 'Cause I'm in love with you / I'm in love with you (x2) /

LOVE, PAIN, AND THE WHOLE DAMN THING <<
>> Amy Sky
* (Song Added May 2004) This is an old song that I remembered "discovering" when I was in the tenth grade. I was browsing and came across it and thought I'd give Amy Sky's self-titled album a listen. To my surprise, I liked every song. Well, since high school, I haven't listened to any of her songs, but I came across this one by accident and it brought back so many great memories. I had to post the lyrics up here. This is a GREAT song to sing along with and vent out your frustrations. Another great song for venting is "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks.

It's a little secret your friends won't tell / Heaven's highway sometimes takes you through hell / Love is work and work is hard / There are ghosts inside the dark / And it takes / CHORUS: Love, pain, the whole damn thing / If you want my heart you get everything / Love, pain, the whole damn thing / It's a crown of thorns to wear a golden ring / Love, pain, the whole damn thing / If you want my heart / You get everything / Cinderella walked upon broken glass / Sleeping beauty let a whole lifetime pass / Love is blood and sweat and tears / Love means facing all your fears / And you get / Chorus / Paradise ain't cheap / Heaven keeps us waiting / So baby wait with me / 'Cause if it's love we're making / I'll take it all / Can you take it all (x2) / 'Cause you get / Chorus / You get everything / You get love / You get pain / If you get love / Can you take the pain baby / Gotta give a something if you wanna get something back now / You gotta give a little something if you wanna get something back / You get everything / You get love (x3) /

FORGOTTEN <<
>> Avril Lavigne
* (Song Added May 2004) This song, "Forgotten", reminds me a lot of Alanis Morrissette in her Jagged-Little-Pill days. I think those days were the highlight of Alanis' career. Anyway, this song was written by Avril Lavigne and Chantel Kreviazuk. Who knew that the two of them would make such a good pair?!

Ah (x8) / I'm giving up on everything / Because you messed me up / Don't know how much you screwed it up / You never listened / That's just too bad / Because I'm moving on / I won't forget / You were the one that was wrong / I know I need to step up and be strong / Don't patronize me / Yeah (x5) / CHORUS: Have you forgotten / Everything that I wanted / Do you forget it now / You never got it / Do you get it now / Yeah (x5) / Yeah (x5) / Ah (x8) / Gotta get away / There's no point in thinking about yesterday / It's too late now / It won't ever be the same / We're so different now / Yeah (x5) / Chorus / I know I wanna run away (x2) / Run away / If only I could run away (x2) / Run away / I told you what I wanted (x2) / What I wanted / But I was forgotten / I won't be forgotten / Never again / Chorus (x2) / Forgotten / Yeah (x3) / Forgotten / Yeah (x3) /

HOW DOES IT FEEL <<
>> Avril Lavigne
* (Song Added May 2004) This song has a calm catchy hook and of course lots of people will be able to relate. This song was also written by Avril Lavigne and Chantal Kreviazuk.

I'm not afraid of anything / I just need to know that I can breathe / I don't need much of anything / But suddenly, suddenly / I am small and the world is big / All around me is fast moving / Surrounded by so many things / But suddenly, suddenly / CHORUS: How does it feel to be / Different from me / Are we the same / How does it feel to be / Different from me / Are we the same / How does it feel / I am young and I am free / But I get tired and I get weak / I get lost and I can't sleep / But suddenly, suddenly / Chorus / Would you comfort me / Would you cry with me / Ah (x24) / I am small but the world is big / But I'm not afraid of anything / Chorus / How does it feel (x2) / You're different from me, different / How does it feel (x2) / You're different from me, different / How does it feel (x2) / You're different from me, different / How does it feel (x2) / You're different from me /

SOMEWHERE DOWN THE BARREL <<
>> The Dissociatives
* (Song Added May 2004) One of my favourite bands is Silverchair, so when I found out that Daniel Johns was starting a new project with Paul Mac called "The Dissociatives", I had to listen to it. It's a world of difference from Silverchair's music, however, this song is amazing in its own right. It is much more whimsical and upbeat than Silverchair's songs. Of course, I'm the type of person who thinks that Daniel Johns can do no wrong. With his voice and amazing guitar talent, he's one of the few artists out there whom I will follow musically.

Somewhere from the mortar / They saved you from far away labels / Eternity means nothing / But a sign on a bridge / When everyone's a stranger / They call for you by your first name / And laugh at jokes you once made / When you were a kid / Somewhere down the barrel / Lies a bullet that I can't keep / And in these waters I'm waiting for a reason / Afterall, it's in my head / I'm not a slave to a desperate lust / And in these waters I'm waiting for a reason afterall / Screaming limitations / Fall silent on New York corners / A terrorist's a prisoner and a tourist a thief / When paintings seem like bargains / But they're nothing but wallpaper / I'm plagued by small town fascists / Like a rash on my skin / Somewhere down the barrel / Lies a bullet that I can't keep and I've been searching for something more than distance / Afterall, it's in my head / I'm not a slave to an unborn trust / And in these waters I'm waiting for a reason afterall / Afterall (x2) / Na (repeat until end of song) /

THE END <<
>> Emm Gryner
* (Song Added May 2004) You should know by now that Emm Gryner is easily in my top 5 list of favourite artists. This song is on her older album, "Public", and it's one of my favourites. I'm so excited!!! Emm is working on a new album. You can be sure I'll buy it as soon as it's released. (Scroll down this page to see more song lyrics by this talented Canadian artist)

Here comes the end of March / And I'm failing all the time / My love carved his name in me / Carefully but full of might / See my head spinning / As surely as the planets / Justify why should I / He'd never come to stand it / What is this / This foreign breath I'm lying with / Thieves are never sweet / CHORUS: Only the end (x2) / Only the end I'm dying through / Only the end (x2) / Give me trust and faith and all the things I had / I trade my blessings / For a way to open up / A toss up of meaning and / Hello care to make love / Give me punishment or say / I'm a normal girl / Some would say you just need to get through / You've got everything to learn / What is this / Hands that hold me differently / Thieves are never sweet / Chorus / Trust and faith and all the things I had (x2) / I kissed a marionette that didn't move / Stronger every day without you / Reached for a crown and it wasn't there / I got a fat sticky mess and I'm feeling pretty bare / Yeah I'm feeling pretty bare / I'm feeling pretty bare / That's what I feel / What is this and it's all mine / I'm stained all through my insides / Chorus / Trust and faith and all the things I had (x2) / Stained all through my insides / Through my insides (x2) /

BREATHE <<
>> Melissa Etheridge
* (Song Added April 2004) I love the "roughness" and the in-your-face power of Melissa's vocals. I also like her older song "Come to My Window." These songs are great to sing, especially when you want to relieve tension (at least this is how it is for me)...

I played the fool today / I just dream of vanishing into the crowd / Longing for home again / Home / Is a feeling I buried in you / I'm alright (x2) / It only hurts when I breathe / And I can't ask for things to be still again / No I can't ask if I could walk through the world in your eyes / Longing for home again / Home / Is a feeling I buried in you / I'm alright (x2) / It only hurts when I breathe / I'm alright (x2) / It only hurts when I breathe / My window through which nothing hides / And everything sees / I'm counting the signs and cursing the miles in between / Home (x2) / Is a feeling I buried in you / That I buried in you / I'm alright (x2) / It only hurts when I breathe / I'm alright (x2) / It only hurts when I breathe / When I breathe / Yeah it only hurts when I breathe / When I breathe / Oh it only hurts when I breathe /

IF I AIN' T GOT YOU <<
>> Alicia Keys
* (Song Added April 2004) I just love the smooth sound of her voice, especially in this song. The chorus is simply amazing the way she sings it.

Some people live for the fortune / Some people live just for the fame / Some people live for the power / Some people live just to play the game / Some people think that the physical things define what's within / And I have been there before and that life's a bore / So full of the superficial / CHORUS: Some people want it all / But I don't want nothing at all / If it ain't you baby / If I ain't got you baby / Some people want diamond rings / Some just want everything / But everything means nothing / If I ain't got you / Some people search for a fountain / That promises forever young / Some people need three dozen roses / And that's the only way to prove you love them / Hand me the world on a silver platter / And what good would it be / With no one to share with no one who truly cares for me / Chorus (x2) / If I ain't got you with me baby / Nothing in this whole wide world don't mean a thing / If I ain't got you with me baby /

IRIS <<
>> Goo Goo Dolls
* (Song Added April 2004) I love this song for the "husky" and raw vocals, guitar, and drums. This song has great significance to me and everytime I hear it on the radio, it brings back fresh memories in highschool, mostly good but some bad. The year this song became popular was an exceptional year for me and I miss those days, even though it really wasn't THAT long ago. *rolls eyes*

And I'd give up forever to touch you / 'Cause I know that you feel me somehow / You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be / And I don't want to go home right now / And all I can taste is this moment / And all I can breathe is your life / 'Cause sooner or later it's over / I just don't want to miss you tonight / CHORUS: And I don't want the world to see me / 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand / When everything's made to be broken / I just want you to know who I am / And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming / Or the moment of truth in your lies / When everything feels like the movies / Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive / Chorus (x3) / I just want you to know who I am (x3) /

YOU RAISE ME UP <<
>> Josh Groban
* (Song Added April 2004) The first time I heard this song, I swear, I got goosebumps! His voice is so rich and I just love the tone in his voice.

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary / When troubles come and my heart burdened be / Then, I am still and wait here in the silence / Until you come and sit awhile with me / CHORUS: You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains / You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas / I am strong, when I am on your shoulders / Chorus x3 /

STILL SMILING <<
>> A Perfect Day
* (Song Added April 2004) This song was so difficult to find for the longest time. I almost thought that the group didn't exist, because I couldn't find any information about them on the internet ANYWHERE and even now, it's pretty hard too. Anyway, so I finally found the song and decided that since it's so hard to find the lyrics to this song anywhere and since many others have probably also been searching for it, I decided to post up the lyrics. I listened to the song and tried my best to be as accurate as possible, but I could be wrong on some parts.

Life without happiness / Some people's will dying / When my train derails off the tracks / I'd rather be there than be flyin' / But it's just one of those things that tragedy brings that somehow makes me smile / CHORUS: Well it's rainin' in the hole / The sky's about to fall / Everything's all wrong but I'm still smiling / My best friend's out of work / My boyfriend's such a jerk / Makes me want to cry / But I'm still smiling / When it's all over everything / I think you need a remedy / Looks like you're walking on the wire / Well someone's pain is another's comedy / Someone else's water is like fire / We're all kids just having fun so stop me if you've heard this one / Chorus / I see smiling / Everywhere / In the faces of the old man / I hear laughter in the children / And it's our world of swirling contradictions maybe we won't get them / But it's raining in the hole / The sky's about to fall / Everything's all wrong but I'm still smiling / My best friend's out of work / My boyfriend's still a jerk / Makes me want to cry but I'm still smiling / It's cloudy in my head / I can't get out of bed / The radio is dead but I'm deceiving / The message is in code / But danger overloads / And the sisters fall awake but I'm still surviving / When it all over everything / I've run out of words to say / I'm still smiling /

BITCH <<
>> Meredith Brooks
* (Song Added April 2004) This is a much older song, but it's still one of my favourites. I love the way her voice sounds so ragged and rebellious. I used to sing this song whenever I was having a bad day or just felt awful and it would help me to release my frustrations. Now I don't use this song as 'therapy' anymore (haha), but I still enjoy singing it. There's something so addictive and empowering about the message (if you don't mind one slightly offensive word) and the melody. I know that some out there may be offended by the word 'bitch', but relax...there are worse things in this world....

I hate the world today / You're so good to me / I know but I can't change / Tried to tell you / But you look at me like maybe / I'm an angel underneath / Innocent and sweet / Yesterday I cried / Must have been relieved to see the softer side / I can understand how you'd be so confused / I don't envy you / I'm a little bit of everything / All rolled into one / CHORUS: I'm a bitch / I'm a lover / I'm a child / I'm a mother / I'm a sinner / I'm a saint / I do not feel ashamed / I'm your hell / I'm your dream / I'm nothing in between / You know you wouldn't want it any other way / So take me as I am / This may mean you'll have to be a stronger man / Rest assured that when I start to make you nervous / And I'm going to extremes / Tomorrow I will change and today won't mean a thing / Chorus / Just when you think you got me figured out / The season's already changing / I think it's cool you do what you do / And don't try to save me / Chorus / I'm a bitch / I'm a tease / I'm a goddess on my knees / When you hurt / When you suffer / I'm your angel undercover / I've been numb / I'm revived / Can't say I'm not alive / You know I wouldn't want it any other way /

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU <<
>> Mariah Carey
* (Song Added December 2003) Many people have sung their own versions of this classic holiday tune, but nobody and I mean NOBODY can sing this song as incredibly as she can. This is a staple in my holiday song collection and the other Christmas songs on her 1994 album "Merry Christmas" are also good, but this is my favourite. Even when it's not Christmas, you'll want to listen to this phenomenal voice singing away like a bird.

I don't want a lot for Christmas / There's just one thing I need / I don't care about presents / Underneath the Christmas tree / I just want you for my own / More than you could ever know / Make my wish come true / All I want for Christmas is you / I don't want a lot for Christmas / There is just one thing I need / I don't care about presents / Underneath the Christmas tree / I don't need to hang my stocking / There upon the fireplace / Santa Claus won't make me happy / With a toy on Christmas day / I just want you for my own / More than you could ever know / Make my wish come true / All I want for Christmas is you / You baby / I won't ask for much this Christmas / I won't even wish for snow / I'm just gonna keep on waiting / Underneath the mistletoe / I won't make a list and send it / To the North Pole for Saint Nick / I won't even stay awake to / Hear those magic reindeer click / 'Cause I just want you here tonight / Holding on to me so tight / What more can I do / Baby all I want for Christmas is you / You / All the lights are shining / So brightly everywhere / And the sound of children's / Laughter fills the air / And everyone is singing / I hear those sleigh bells ringing / Santa won't you bring me the one I really need / Won't you please bring my baby to me / Oh I don't want a lot for Christmas / This is all I'm asking for / I just want to see baby / Standing right outside my door / Oh I just want him for my own / More than you could ever know / Make my wish come true / Baby all I want for Christmas is you / All I want for Christmas is you baby (repeat while fading) /

DEATH IS A NEW DAY <<
>> Emm Gryner
* (Song Added December 2003) Scroll down the page to see more lyrics by this artist. This song is one of my long time favourites and Emm Gryner is one of my favourite artists (easily on my Top 5 list)....This is such a touching song with great lyrics.

All the world's on hold inside this room / I try to shine like a brand new star but it's hard to do / How famous do I have to be to see you again / How much money do I have to have to buy the end / CHORUS: I've got nothing to say and nothing to do / But hope I heal soon / 'Cause death is a new day / A new day without you / Seven here and midnight where you are / I never knew that easy feeling could make all this so hard / If I called you a dead man I might survive / Dancing to your favourite rock songs in my spare time / Every other thing that breathes goes up against you / They try to scrape you from my skin but they always lose / Chorus / As I close the door on you and end the crusade / I tell the pieces of you to go but I feel them stay / Chorus / I hope I heal soon / 'Cause death is a new day / A new day without you / Without you (x2) / Seven here and midnight / Still without you /

VANISHING <<
>> Mariah Carey
* (Song Added December 2003) Scroll down the page to see more lyrics by this artist. Here's an older song of hers off her self-titled debut album from 1990. If you've only heard Mariah Carey's newer songs, you're missing a lot. Go check out her older albums like "Daydream" and "Music Box"....Now, THOSE were her best songs ever, in my opinion, although her newer songs like "Bringing on the Heartbreak" are pretty good too. Still though, I think Mariah was in her prime back then. Her voice was strong, not airy and whispery. When Mariah tries to belt out a song, she CAN!!!!!! Listen to this song and you'll hear it!

If I could recapture / All of the memories / And bring them to life / Surely I would / Hear the distant laughter / Wasn't it you and me / Surviving the night / You're fading out of my sight / Swiftly / CHORUS: You're vanishing / Drifting away / You're vanishing / I was so enraptured / No sensibility / To open my eyes / I misunderstood / Now you're fading faster / It's suddenly hard to see / You're taking the light / Letting the shadows inside / Swiftly / Chorus / Reaching out into the distance / Searching for spirits of the past / Just a trace of your existence to grasp / And if somehow I could recapture / All of the memories / And bring them to life / Lord knows I would / But now you're fading faster / Getting so hard to see / Taking the light / Letting the darkness inside / Swiftly / Chorus /

SOAR <<
>> Christina Aguilera
* (Song Added December 2003) Scroll down to see more lyrics by this artist. Anyway, this song is here because it sends a powerful message to all of us to stay strong when times get tough. This has such universal appeal and of course no one else could've pulled off singing this tune than Miss Aguilera. She makes the song memorable.

When they push , when they pull / Tell me, can you hold on / When they say you should change / Can you lift your head high and stay strong / Will you give up, give in / When your heart's crying out that it's wrong / Will you love you for you at the end of it all / CHORUS 1: Now in life, there's gonna be times when you're feeling low / And in your mind, insecurities seems to take control / We start to look outside ourselves for acceptance and approval / We keep forgetting that the one thing we should know is / CHORUS 2: Don't be scared to fly alone / Find a path that is your own / Love will open every door it's in your hands, the world is yours / Don't hold back and always know all the answers will unfold / What are you waiting for, spread your wings and soar / The boy who wonders is he good enough for them / Keeps tryin' to please 'em all but he just never seems to fit in / Then there's the girl who thinks she'll never ever be good enough for him / Keeps tryin' to change and that's a game she'll never win / Chorus 1 / Chorus 2 / In the mirror is where she comes face to face with her fears / Her own reflection now foreign to her after all these years / All of her life she has tried to be something besides herself / Now, time has passed and she's ended up someone else with regret / What is it in us that makes us feel the need to keep pretending / Gotta let ourselves be / Chorus 2 (x2) / Spread your wings and soar / What're you waiting for / Spread your wings and soar / So, what you waitin' for /

IF YOU WANT ME TO <<
>> Ginny Owens
* (Song Added November 2003) This actually isn't a new song. I heard this many years ago while watching "Roswell" (that television show with Jason Behr and Shiri Appleby). I like this song because it's very relaxing and the melody is sweet and gentle with a heart-felt message.

The pathway is broken and the signs are unclear / And I don’t know the reason why you brought me here / But just because you love me the way that you do / I’m gonna walk through the valley / If you want me to / Cause I’m not who I was / When I took my first step / And I’m clinging to the promise / You’re not through with me yet / So if all of these trials / Bring me closer to you / Then I will go through fire if you want me to / It may not be the way I would have chosen / When you lead me through a world that’s not my home / But you never said it would be easy / You only said I’d never go alone / You oooh oh / So when the whole world turns against me / And I’m all by myself / And I can’t hear you answer my cries for help / I’ll remember the sufferin’ your love put you through / And I will go through the valley / If you want me to /

FALLEN <<
>> Sarah McLachlan
* (Song Added November 2003) Back in highschool I never cared for her music, but now, my musical tastes are broadening and I appreciate her serene, angelic music. It's very relaxing, like Enya. I'm thinking about purchasing her new album, "Afterglow", when it comes out.

Heaven bent to take my hand / And lead me through the fire / Be the long awaited answer / To a long and painful fight / Truth be told I've tried my best / But somewhere along the way / I got caught up in all there was to offer / And the cost was so much more than I could bear / CHORUS: Though I've tried / I've fallen / I have sunk so low I have messed up / Better I should know / So don't come round here / And tell me I told you so / We all begin with good intent / Love was raw and young / We believed that we could change ourselves / The past could be undone / But we carry on our backs the burden / Time always reveals / The lonely light of morning / The wound that would not heal / It's the bitter taste of losing everything / That I have held so dear / Chorus / Heaven bent to take my hand / Nowhere left to turn I'm lost to those I thought were friends / To everyone I know / Oh they turned their heads embarassed / Pretend that they don't see / But it's one missed step / You'll slip before you know it / And there doesn't seem a way to be redeemed / Chorus (x2) /

DO YOU FEEL THE SAME <<
>> Silverchair
* (Song Added September 2003) This song is from the group's older album, "Neon Ballroom" (an album I highly recommend, among many). As most of you know, I listen to almost all genres of music and have numerous favourite artists, but Silverchair is easily within my Top 10 favourites. Their melodies, lyrics, and hehe...of course Daniel Johns' voice really are mind-blowing. I love that their songs can sound hard or soft. They are very artistic. I absolutely praise them for being lyrical geniuses (in my opinion).....Wow, I love that line "Or would you just read my spine".....(Side note: To see more lyrics of Silverchair songs, scroll down the page...I have plenty listed)

Moon covered determined to find / To find my place of hiding / Try to detatch / Try to decrease / To make it easier on me / Despise myself for what you've done / Sent me back into my world / Hold yourself 'cause no one will / I'll make it easier / Now I have managed to be the one / To be the victim without the gun / Do you feel the same anyway / Now you've come / Do you feel the same anyway / Now you've come / Stay alert cause I'm obsessed / Surely I can't be depressed / Could I be read if I was see-through / Or would you just read my spine / Could I be read if I was see-through (x3) / Or would you just read my spine / Now I have managed to be the one / To be the victim without the gun / Do you feel the same anyway / Now you've come / Do you feel the same anyway / Now you've come / Do you feel the same / Feel the same / Now you've come / Do you feel the same anyway / Hold yourself cause no one will / I'll be there to take the spill / Cleanse your soul / Change the tide / And ride the wave back into me / Be the one / Without the gun / Do you feel the same anyway / Now you've come / Do you feel the same anyway / Now you've come / Do you feel the same / Feel the same / Now you've come / Do you feel the same anyway /

GREEN EYES <<
>> Coldplay
* (Song Added September 2003) To be honest, I never listened to an entire Coldplay album before. The songs I heard and loved (such as "Yellow", "Trouble", and "In My Place", etc.), I "discovered" through their music videos. Anyway, so just recently, I decided to purchase their 2 albums: Their debut CD, "Parachutes" and their latest 2002 album, "A Rush of Blood to the Head". I must say that both are masterpieces in my opinion. They have such mellow, soothing, deep melodies and lyrics. Now I love all of their songs...amazing group! I can't wait for their next album. This song "Green Eyes" comes from their 2002 album and it's one of my favourites. It's acoustic and I just love the sound of the "raw" voice and the guitar....beautiful...For those who are fans of Coldplay, especially when they sing acoustically, I highly recommend Emm Gryner (another talented artist). You'll probably love her mellow acoustic sounds too. (Side note: To see some Emm Gryner lyrics, scroll down the page)

Honey you are a rock / Upon which I stand / And I came here to talk / I hope you understand / The green eyes / Yeah / The spotlight / Shines upon you / And how could anybody deny you / I came here with a load / And it feels so much lighter now I met you / And honey you should know / That I could never go on without you / Green eyes / Honey you are the sea / Upon which I float / And I came here to talk / I think you should know / The green eyes / You're the one that I wanted to find / And anyone who tried to deny you / Must be out of their mind / Because I came here with a load / And it feels so much lighter since I met you / Honey you should know / That I could never go on without you / Green eyes (x2) / Oh (x16) / Honey you are a rock / Upon which I stand /

THE SCIENTIST <<
>> Coldplay
* (Song Added September 2003) Here is another Coldplay song that I love for its overwhelming emotional aspect. This song makes you reflect in a deeper sense, I think. The melody is delicate and bittersweet. Gosh, I love Coldplay.

Come up to meet you / Tell you I'm sorry / You don't know how lovely you are / I had to find you / Tell you I need you / Tell you I set you apart / Tell me your secrets / And ask me your questions / Oh let's go back to the start / Running in circles / Coming up tails / Heads on a silence apart / Nobody said it was easy / It's such a shame for us to part / Nobody said it was easy / No one ever said it would be this hard / Oh take me back to the start / I was just guessing / At numbers and figures / Pulling your puzzles apart / Questions of science / Science and progress / Do not speak as loud as my heart / Tell me you love me / Come back and haunt me / Oh and I rush to the start / Running in circles / Chasing our tails / Coming back as we are / Nobody said it was easy / Oh it's such a shame for us to part / Nobody said it was easy / No one ever said it would be so hard / I'm going back to the start /

HEADSTRONG <<
>> Trapt
* (Song Added August 2003) This is a GREAT song especially for when you feel frustrated and want to release your anger through music. It sends an I-take-no-BS message, which I love....straight to the point and assertive.

Circling circling circling your head / Contemplating everything you ever said / Now I see the truth / I got doubt / A different motive in your eyes and now I’m out / See you later / I see your fantasy / You want to make it a reality paved in gold / See inside / Inside of our heads (yeah) / Well now that’s over / I see your motives inside / Decisions to hide / CHORUS: Back off I'll take you on / Headstrong to take on anyone / I know that you are wrong / Headstrong we’re headstrong / Back off I'll take you on / Headstrong to take on anyone / I know that you are wrong and this is not where you belong / I can’t give everything away / I won’t give everything away / Conclusions manifest / Your first impressions got to be your very best / I see you’re full of shit / And that’s alright / That’s how you play / I guess you’ll get through every night / Well now that’s over / I see your fantasy / You want to make it a reality paved in gold / See inside / Inside of our heads (yeah) / Well now that’s over / I see your motives inside / Decisions to hide / Chorus / I know, I know all about (x3) / I know / I know all about your motives inside / And your decision to hide / Chorus /

BRINGIN' ON THE HEARTBREAK <<
>> Mariah Carey
* (Song Added August 2003) Mariah did a wonderful job at revamping Def Leppard's song....She has an outstanding voice as we all know, even if some don't admit it.....WOW, a 5-octave range......The music video for this song seems to remind me of a Shakira music video though....(which is really strange)

Gypsy, sittin' lookin' pretty / A broken rose and laughin' eyes / You're a mystery / Always runnin' wild / Like a child without a home / You're always searchin' / Searchin', searchin' for a feelin' / But it's easy come and easy go / Oh / I'm sorry but it's true / You're bringin' on the heartache / Takin' all the best of me / Oh can't you see / You got the best of me / Whoa can't you see / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / Can't you see / Oh you're such a secret / Misty eyed and shady / Baby, how you hold the key / Oh you're like a candle / Your flame slowly fadin' / Burnin' out and burnin' me / Can't you see / Just tryin' to say to you / You're bringin' on the heartache / Takin' all the best of me / Oh can't you see / You got the best of me / Oh can't you see / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / Can't you see (x2) / No (x3) / You got the best of me / Oh can't you see / You got the best of me / Oh can't you see / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / You're bringin' on the heartbreak / Bringin' on the heartache / You're bringin' on the heartbreak /

SWING SWING <<
>> The All-American Rejects
* (Song Added August 2003) This song is really catchy. I can't seem to get it out of my head...and the radio keeps overplaying it (what else is new?)....

Days swiftly come and go / I'm dreaming of her / She's seeing other guys / Emotions they stir / The sun is gone / The nights are long / And I am left while the tears fall / CHORUS: Did you think that I would cry on the phone / Do you know what it feels like being alone / I'll find someone new / Swing, swing, swing from the tangles of / My heart is crushed by a former love / Can you help me find a way / To carry on again / Wish cast into the sky / I'm moving on / Sweet beginnings do arise / She knows I was wrong / The notes are old / They bend / They fold and so do I to a new love / Chorus / Bury me (you thought your problems were gone) / Carry me / Away (x3) / Swing, swing, swing from the tangles of / My heart is crushed by a former love / Can you help me find a way / To cary on again / Swing, swing, swing from the tangles of / My heart is crushed by a former love / Can you help me find a way / To carry on again /

WHERE IS THE LOVE <<
>> Black Eyed Peas (featuring Justin Timberlake)
* (Song Added August 2003) First of all I have to say that I am NOT a Justin Timberlake fan. Most times I cannot stand him, so it really surprised me when I heard this song and found that he had a part in it. The funny thing about it is that when I first heard it, I thought the high-pitched voice was a female, but of course it turned out to be none other than former Nsync boyband member, Justin. Oh well, the reason I like it is for the message and the beat is really catchy (but ESPECIALLY the chorus).

What's wrong with the world mama / People livin' like they ain't got no mamas / I think the whole world addicted to the drama / Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma / Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism / But we still got terrorists here livin' / In the USA, the big CIA / The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK / But if you only have love for your own race / Then you only leave space to discriminate / And to discriminate only generates hate / And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah / Badness is what you demonstrate / And that's exactly how anger works and operates / You gotta have love just to set it straight / Take control of your mind and meditate / Let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all / CHORUS: People killin', people dyin' / Children hurt and you hear them cryin' / Can you practice what you preach / And would you turn the other cheek / Father, Father, Father help us / Send us some guidance from above / 'Cause people got me, got me questionin' / Where is the love (Love) / Where is the love (The love) / Where is the love (The love) / Where is the love / The love, the love / It just ain't the same, always unchanged / New days are strange, is the world insane / If love and peace is so strong / Why are there pieces of love that don't belong / Nations droppin' bombs / Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones / With the ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young / So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone / So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong / In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin' in / Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends / Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother / A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover / The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug / If you never know truth then you never know love / Where's the love, y'all, come on (I don't know) / Where's the truth, y'all, come on (I don't know) / Where's the love, y'all / Chorus / I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder / As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder / Most of us only care about money makin' / Selfishness got us followin' our own direction / Wrong information always shown by the media / Negative images is the main criteria / Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria / Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema / Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity / Whatever happened to the fairness in equality / Instead in spreading love we spreading animosity / Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity / That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' under / That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' down / There's no wonder why sometimes I'm feelin' under / Gotta keep my faith alive to lovers bound / Chorus / Where is the love (Love) x2 /

SOMETIMES WHEN WE TOUCH <<
>> Dan Hill
* (Song Added July 2003) One of the truly classic love songs of all time. I am always a sucker for these types. Note: "Fifth Avenue" does a great re-make of this song and it's worth checking out!

You ask me if I love you / And I choke on my reply / I'd rather hurt you honestly / Than mislead you with a lie / And who am I to judge you / On what you say or do / I'm only just beginning / To see the real you / CHORUS: And sometimes when we touch / The honesty's too much / And I have to close my eyes and hide / I wanna hold you 'til I die / 'Til we both break down and cry / I wanna hold you 'til the fear in me subsides / Romance and all its strategy / Leaves me battling with my pride / But through the insecurity / Some tenderness survives / I'm just another writer / Still trapped within my truths / A hesitant prizefighter / Still trapped within my youth / Chorus / At times I'd like to break you / And drive you to your knees / At times I'd like to break through / And hold you endlessly / At times I understand you / And I know how hard you've tried / I've watched while love commands you / And I've watched love pass you by / At times I think we're drifters / Still searching for a friend / A brother or a sister / But then the passion flares again / Chorus /

' TIL I GET OVER YOU <<
>> Michelle Branch
* (Song Added July 2003) This is the 12th track on her new album "Hotel Paper", which I bought when it came out. This is my favourite song from this CD, aside from the last track, "It's You". I also really love how she incorporated the French language into her lyrics.

Everytime I feel alone / I can blame it on you / And I do / Oh / You got me like a loaded gun / Golden sun and sky so blue / Oh / We both know that we know it / That we both know you left me no choice / CHORUS: (Chaque fois que tu ton va) / You just bring me down / (Je pretend que tu fois bien) / So I'm counting my tears 'til I get over you / Sometimes I watch the world go by / I wonder what it's like / To wake up every single day / Smile on your face / You never tried / We both know we can't change it / But we both know we'll just have to face it / Chorus / If only I could give you up / Would I want to let you off of this soapbox baby / We both know that we want it / But we both know you left me no choice / Chorus / We both know that I'm not over you / I'm not over you /

A COMPLICATED SONG <<
>> Weird Al Yankovic
* (Song Added June 2003) As much as I like Avril's songs, I also like parodies, especially when they are as clever as this. Reading the lyrics alone may not sound so great. I suggest downloading the song so you can hear it. It's much funnier that way. Or, if you can sing decently, sing these lyrics to Avril's tune of "Complicated".......it's a riot, even if it's pretty immature...hehe

Uh huh / Extra cheese / Uh huh (x2) / Save a piece for me / Pizza party at your house / I went just to check it out / Nineteen extra larges / What a shame / No one came / Just us eatin' all alone / You said, "Take the pizza home" / "No sense lettin' all this go to waste" / So then I faced / Pizza all day / And every day / This cheese 'round the clock / Is gettin' me blocked / And I sure don't care / For irregularity / Tell me / Why'd you have to go and make me so constipated / 'Cause right now I'd do anything to just get my bowels evacuated / In the bathroom / I sit and I wait and I strain / And I sweat and I clench and I feel the pain / Oh should I take laxatives or have my colon irrigated / No (x3) / I was feelin' pretty down / 'Till my girlfriend came around / We're just so alike in every way / I gotta say / In fact I just thought I might / Pop the question there that night / I was kissing her so tenderly / But woe is me / Who would have guessed / Her family crest / I'd suddely spy / Tattooed on her thigh / And son-of-a-gun / It's just like the one on me / Tell me / How was I supposed to know we were both related / Believe me if I knew she was my cousin we never would have dated / What to do now / Should I go ahead and propose / And get hitched and have kids with eleven toes / And move to Alabama where that kind of thing is tolerated / No (x7) / No (x12) / I had so much on my mind / I thought maybe I'd unwind / Try out that new roller coaster ride / And the guide / Said not to stand / But that's a demand / That I couldn't meet / I got on my feet / And stood up instead / And knocked off my head, you see / Tell me / Why'd I have to go and get myself decapitated / This really is a major inconvenience / Oh man I really hate it / Such a drag now / Can't eat I can't breathe I can't snore / I can't belch or yodel anymore / Can't spit or blow my nose or even read Sports Illustrated / Oh no / Why'd I have to go and get myself all mutilated (yeah, yeah) / I gotta tell ya life without a head kinda makes me irritated / What a bummer / Can't blink, I can't cough, I can't sneeeze / But my neck is enjoyin' a pleasant breeze now / Haven't been the same since my head and I were separated / No (x3) /

JOLLY HOLIDAY <<
>> Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke
* (Song Added June 2003) Haha, I bet you thought that you'd never be seeing these lyrics here in a million years. Well, I have news for you....I like Mary Poppins and I LOVE this song. Why? For one thing, whenever I'm feeling a tad under the weather, all I have to do is listen to this song and it's like insta-cheer. I can't listen to this song without smiling and giggling (like a giddy little girl). Plus, it also helps how my name (Mary) is the focus and the song is about just how wonderful I am.......*Smirk*........haha.......It's a silly goofy little song, but it always does the trick for me and so, I decided it was fine time I give it a spot on this page.

Ain't it a glorious day / Right as a mornin' in May / I feel like I could fly / Have you ever seen the grass so green / Or a bluer sky / Oh it's a jolly holiday with Mary / Mary makes your heart so light / When the day is gray and ordinary / Mary makes the sun shine bright / Oh happiness is bloomin' all around her / The daffodils are smilin' at the dove / When Mary holds your hand you feel so grand / Your heart starts beatin' like a big brass band / It's a jolly holiday with Mary / No wonder that it's Mary that we love / CHORUS: Oh it's a jolly holiday with Mary / Mary makes your heart so light / When the day is gray and ordinary / Mary makes the sun shine bright / Oh happiness is bloomin' all around her / The daffodils are smilin' at the dove / When Mary holds your hand you feel so grand / Your heart starts beatin' like a big brass band / It's a jolly holiday with Mary / No wonder that it's Mary that we love / Now then what'd be nice / We'll start with raspberry ice / And then some cakes and tea / Order what you will / There'll be no bill / It's complimentary / Oh, it's a jolly holiday with you, Bert / Gentlemen like you are few / Though your just a diamond in the rough, Bert / Underneath your blood is blue / You'd never think of pressing your advantage / Forbearance is the hallmark of your creed / A lady needn't fear when you are near / Your sweet gentility is crystal clear / Oh it's a jolly holiday with you Bert / A jolly, jolly holiday with you / It's true that Mavis and Sybil have ways that are winning / And Prudence and Gwendolyn set your heart spinning / Phoebe's delightful, Maude is disarming / Janice, Felicia, Lydia - charming / Cynthia's dashing, Vivian's sweet / Stephanie's smashing, Priscilla a treat / Veronica, Millicent, Agnes, and Jane / Convival company, time and again / Drocas and Phyllis and Glynis are sorts / I'll agree are three jolly good sports / But cream of the crop, tip of the top / It's Mary Poppins, and there we stop /

SHOULDA WOULDA COULDA <<
>> Brian McKnight
* (Song Added June 2003) Of course I posted these lyrics because I love the song and Brian's voice, but also this song sends a good message that you should never take anyone for granted. They might not always be there for you and when you realize this, you'll kick yourself in the butt, knowing that you should've, would've, and could've done things much differently and showed the person that you really cared. Occasionally, we're all guilty of not appreciating the people we love the most. Sometimes you can lose someone you cherish through neglect.

Alright / Yeah / Listen / Baby can you put them bags down / Just wait hold on for a minute / Gotta say a couple things before you go / Even though I know that we're finished / I don't want you to leave without knowin' / Just where I'm comin' from / Babe I just wanna say I made a big mistake / And now I gotta face the fact that I / CHORUS: Shoulda been a better man / The kinda man that you needed / Woulda been better off / If I done right by you / I coulda done this / I coulda done that / But I know I can't go back / 'Cause now it's just too late / I'm sayin' shoulda woulda coulda / Yeah / I can tell by the look on your face / You ain't tryin' to hear what I'm sayin' / Maybe you done heard all of this before / To her this ain't no game that I'm playin' / This may be the last chance I'll ever have / To talk to you before you go / So I gotta say I made a big mistake / Girl you know it's killin' me that I / Chorus / Yeah / I should have done my best to love you baby / I should have placed no one above you / And now it's killin' me more than you know / Letting you go that's why I / Girl I know that I shoulda / Shoulda been a better man (Coulda been a better man to you baby) / The kinda man that you needed (Shoulda been there for you every time you needed me) / Woulda been better off (Every time you called me) / If I done right by you (And you know that I coulda done this) / I coulda done this / I coulda done that (Coulda done that yeah) / But I know I can't go back (You know I can't go back baby) / 'Cause now it's just too late (All I know need to know is girl all I need to know is) / I'm sayin' shoulda woulda coulda / Yeah (Do you love me like you used to baby) / I know I shoulda / Yeah I know I woulda / Yeah (All the things I coulda done) / I know I coulda been a better man (All the things I shoulda done) / Said I shoulda woulda coulda / Yeah (Sayin' shoulda woulda coulda yeah) I know I shoulda / Yeah (Yeah) I know I woulda / Yeah (Coulda woulda shoulda) / I know I coulda been a better man / Said I shoulda woulda coulda / Yeah (Yeah) /

ALL ABOUT LOVIN' YOU <<
>> Bon Jovi
* (Song Added June 2003) Some of Bon Jovi's ballads are so classic. I love this new single, but I also loved his other hits "Always" and "Bed of Roses"....

Looking at the pages of my life / Faded memories of me and you / Mistakes you know I've made a few / I took some shots and fell from time to time / Baby / You were there to pull me through / We've been around the block a time or two / I'm gonna lay it on the line / Ask me how we've come this far / The answer's written in my eyes / CHORUS: Every time I look at you / Baby I see something new / That takes me higher than before and makes me want you more / I don't wanna sleep tonight / Dreamin's just a waste of time / When I look at what my life's been comin' to / I'm all about lovin' you / I've lived / I've loved / I've lost / I've paid some dues baby / We've been to hell and back again / Through it all you're always my best friend / For all the words I didn't say and all the things I didn't do / Tonight I'm gonna find a way / Chorus / You can take this world away / You're everything I am / Just read the lines upon my face / I'm all about lovin' you (x2) / Chorus / All about lovin' you /

FOREVER AND FOR ALWAYS <<
>> Shania Twain
* (Song Added June 2003) Another artist with classic romantic ballads. I still love "You're Still the One", "You've Got A Way", "From This Moment", and "Honey I'm Home". I didn't care much for her techno-inspired "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" music video (or the song) though....Anyway...so here I am promoting some Canadian talent.....hehe....O CANADA!!!!!!!!!!

I can feel your heart beat now / I can really feel it now / In your arms I can still feel the way you / want me when you hold me / I can still hear the words you whispered / When you told me / I can stay right here forever in your arms / And there ain't no way / I'm lettin' you go now / And there ain't no way / And there ain't no how / I'll never see that day / CHORUS: 'Cause I'm keeping you / Forever and for always / We will be together all of our days / Wanna wake up every morning to your sweet face / Always / Mmmm baby / In your heart I can still hear a beat for every time you kiss me / And when we're apart / I know how much you miss me / I can feel your love for me in your heart / And there ain't no way / I'm lettin' you go now / And there ain't no way / And there ain't no how / I'll never see that day / Chorus / (I wanna wake up every morning) / In your eyes (I can still see the look of the one) I can still see the look of the one who really loves me / (I can still feel the way that you want) The one who wouldn't put anything else in the world above me / (I can still see love for me) I can still see love for me in your eyes / And there ain't no way / I'm lettin' you go now / And there ain't no way / And there ain't no how / I'll never see that day / Chorus (x2) / I'm keeping you forever and for always / I'm in your arms /

TOY SOLDIERS <<
>> Martika
* (Song Added May 2003) Undoubtedly some of the best music came from the 1980's. Here is a goodie from the late eighties...Hehe...I was just a toddler when this song came out. I haven't heard it in a long time now, but yesterday when I was flipping through the channels on television, I saw the music video for it and it re-ignited my love for all things 80's. This is one of the great songs from the decade. Like I always say, I am a huge sucker for songs about love, heartache, loss - yeah, all those mushy songs...hehe....

It wasn't my intention to mislead you / It never should have been this way / What can I say / It's true / I did extend the invitation / I never knew how long you'd stay / When you hear temptation call / It's your heart that takes / Takes the fall / (Won't you come out and play with me) / CHORUS: Step by step / Heart to heart (heart to heart) / Left right left / We all fall down (fall down) / Like toy soldiers / Bit by bit (bit by bit) / Torn apart (torn apart) / We never win but the battle rages on / For toy soldiers / It's getting hard to wake up in the morning / My head is spinning constantly / How can it be (how can it be) / How could I be so blind to this addiction / If I don't stop / The next one is gonna be me / Only emptiness remains / It replaces all of the pain / (Won't you come out and play with me) / Chorus / We never win / Only emptiness remains / It replaces all of the pain / (Won't you come out and play with me) / Chorus /

HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH <<
>> Belinda Carlisle
* (Song Added May 2003) Here's another 1980's song to bring back some nostalgia....Enjoy!

CHORUS: Ooh baby / Do you know what that's worth / Ooh heaven is a place on earth / They say in heaven love comes first / We'll make heaven a place on earth / Ooh heaven is a place on earth / When the night falls down / I wait for you and you come around / And the world's alive / With the sound of kids on the street outside / When you walk into the room / You pull me close and we start to move / And we're spinning with the stars above / And you lift me up in a wave of love / Chorus / When I feel alone / I reach for you and you bring me home / When I'm lost at sea / I hear your voice and it carries me / In this world we're just beginning / To understand the miracle of living / Baby I was afraid before / But I'm not afraid anymore / Chorus / In this world we're just beginning / To understand the miracle of living / Baby I was afraid before / But I'm not afraid anymore / Chorus / Ooh heaven is a place on earth (repeat until fade) /

I CAN' T MAKE YOU LOVE ME <<
>> Bonnie Raitt
* (Song Added May 2003) This classic song is so calming and heart-felt. The truth in the lyrics really gets to me. The melody and lyrics are beautiful. We've all felt this way about someone before. That's what makes this song so universal.

Turn down the lights / Turn down the bed / Turn down these voices inside my head / Lay down with me / Tell me no lies / Just hold me close / Don't patronise (x2) / 'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't / You can't make your heart feel something it won't / Here in the dark in these final hours / I will lay down my heart / And I feel the power / But you won't / No you won't / 'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't / I'll close my eyes / Then I won't see / The love you don't feel when you're holding me / Mornin' will come and I'll do what's right / Just give me 'till then to give up this fight / And I will give up this fight / 'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't / You can't make your heart feel something it won't / Here in the dark in these final hours / I will lay down my heart / And I feel the power / But you won't / No you won't / 'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't /

PICTURE <<
>> Kid Rock (featuring Sheryl Crow)
* (Song Added May 2003) Who would've thought that these two would make a great duet? I sure didn't. Wow, but when I heard the song months ago, I couldn't stop thinking how great they sound together.

Livin' my life in a slow hell / Different girl every night at the hotel / I ain't seen the sun shine in 3 damn days / Been fuelin' up on cocaine and whisky / Wish I had a good girl to miss me / Lord I wonder if I'll ever change my ways / I put your picture away / Sat down and cried today / I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to her / I put your picture away / Sat down and cried today / I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to her / I called you last night in the hotel / Everyone knows but they won't tell / But their half-hearted smiles tell me / Somethin' just ain't right / I've been waitin' on you for a long time / Fuelin' up on heartaches and cheap wine / I ain't heard from you in 3 damn nights / I put your picture away / I wonder where you've been / I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to him / I put your picture away / I wonder where you've been / I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to him / I saw you yesterday with an old friend / It was the same ole same "how have you been" / Since you've been gone my world's been dark and grey / You reminded me of brighter days / I hoped you were comin' home to stay / I was head of the church / I was off to drink you away / I thought about you for a long time / Can't seem to get you off my mind / I can't understand why we're living life this way / I found your picture today / I swear I'll change my ways / I just called to say I want you to come back home / I found your picture today / I swear I'll change my ways / I just called to say I want you to come back home / I just called to say I love you / Come back home /

BRING ME TO LIFE <<
>> Evanescence
* (Song Added April 2003) I only heard this song once and it was when a television station played their music video. I thought this song was really touching. It's open for a wide range of interpretation. Even though the lyrics are almost simplistic, I got a deeper meaning out of it. I love when song lyrics allow for abstract thoughts.

How can you see into my eyes / Like open doors / Leading you down into my core / Where I've become so numb / Without a soul / My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold / Until you find it there and lead it back home / CHORUS: Wake me up / Wake me up inside / I can't wake up / Wake me up inside / Save me / Call my name and save me from the dark / Wake me up / Bid my blood to run / I can't wake up / Before I come undone / Save me / Save me from the nothing I've become / Now that I know what I'm without / You can't just leave me / Breathe into me and make me real / Bring me to life / Chorus / Bring me to life / I've been living a lie / There's nothing inside / Bring me to life / Frozen inside without your touch / Without your love darling / Only you are the life among the dead / All of this sight / I can't believe I couldn't see / Kept in the dark / But you were there in front of me / I've been sleeping a 1000 years it seems / I've got to open my eyes to everything / Without a thought / Without a voice / Without a soul / Don't let me die here / There must be something wrong / Bring me to life / Chorus / Bring me to life / I've been living a lie /There's nothing inside / Bring me to life /
