All You Ever Wanted To Know About Mary But Were Too Scared To Ask...
Okay, so you want to know more about me, eh? Well...this should satisfy you. Here are MANY questions that I have answered and lots of tidbits about me. As of November 2006, I have revised some of my answers because I have changed as an individual. If you've read this page before, re-read it to find some new tidbits about me. Here we go! Put on your mental helmet...We're going into battle.
Do you prefer fast dancing or slow dancing? I like dancing fast when I'm feeling hyper and slow dancing when I'm feeling romantic.
Do you smoke? Nope. I'm not Puff the Magic Dragon.
If you could remain a certain age forever, what would it be? I'd never want to remain static because I believe that life necessarily must be dynamic in order to be fulfilling. With that being said and if I HAD to answer the question, I'd choose to remain a 19-year-old. You're still a teenager so you can be immature, you're legal, and you're an adult so you can be mature too.
Do you have any toys in your room? The top row of my shelf is the home of a few of my 1980s childhood toys, which includes Rainbow Brite, Care Bears, Russ Trolls, Strawberry Shortcake, Smurfette, Keepers, etc. The rest of my numerous toys are stored in boxes in my garage.
What is your status? I'm currently going steady with my boyfriend, Matthew.
Can you curl your tongue? Yeppers!
Favourite flowers? Lilacs, sunflowers, roses, daisies, daffodils, and forget-me-nots.
Favourite actors & actresses? Alexis Bledel, Lauren Graham, Keri Russell, Scott Speedman, Megan Follows...
Do you still watch cartoons? No, not really. Every so often (if I catch it on television) I'll watch an episode or two of "The Simpsons," but I don't follow the show religiously. I don't watch Japanese anime either.
What are your favourite holidays? New Year's Eve and Christmas!
3 words that describe you are: Open-minded, scatterbrained, and emotional
Favourite boy's name: Jamie, Trevor, Craig, Jeremy
Favourite girl's name: Kasia, Haizel, Jacinta, Natalia, Caitlain/Caitlyn
Do you want to live forever? No, but I want to live a long, prosperous and happy life. If my life is filled with sadness, I hope to at least learn something from it and/or help others with my first-hand knowledge and experience.
Do you sing in the shower? Yes...it's quite unfortunate for those who hear me though. Earplugs anyone?
Do you go skiing or snowboarding? Nope. Those aren't my kinds of sports. I did go on a week-long ski trip though when I was in grade 8. That was enough for me, thanks.
Favourite Sport(s)? Synchronized swimming, baseball, figure skating, tennis, and hockey, but I don't follow any of them on T.V. I prefer playing them rather than just observing.
Are you an athlete? No...probably far from it, however I did well in Cross Country and Track & Field.
What are the 3 most important things in your life right now? Persevering through personal unhappiness/obstacles, relationships, and establishing my career.
Can you whistle? No...I think that I'm the last person on the planet who can't. I can make a sound, but it doesn't sound like a whistle...haha...more like a screech or something equally irritating.
Are you a shop-a-holic? Hmm...sometimes I drop money like it's hot. I've been known to blow $800 in less than half an hour. For instance, I bought the new Coach Signature Gallery Tote (in Brass/Brown) in 15 minutes (I LOVE that purse!). I've never been in debt though because I only spend within reason. I have a full-time job and I wouldn't splurge like this if I didn't have the funds to back up my frivolty.
If I asked you to hum a song right now, what song immediately pops into your head? "Queen of the Boys" by Emm Gryner.
Do you keep a journal? If so for how long? Yes and I started keeping one since Grade 1. I have several diary books (just under 30, although I haven't counted exactly how many).
Do you ever worry that someone will read what you wrote in it? YES! I have Someone Might Find My Journal Paranoia, but somehow or other, I still manage to write my true thoughts and feelings in it without any inhibitions.
Do you say the word "eh" a lot in real life? No. I used to before though and so did my dad. (Oh, and YES, I am Canadian, and NO, I don't have a pet beaver or moose or live in an igloo or hug maple trees. Repeat after me. "Those are ridiculous MYTHS!")
What colour eyes would you like to have? GREEN or green with some hazel in it. I like combinations of colours rather than just one. Mike is incredibly blessed because he has green/brown eyes and 20/20 vision, so his attractiveness isn't the result of cosmetic-oriented contact lenses.
What features do you notice about a person first? Figure, hair, eyes, and smile (mouth)...in that order.
What song could you NEVER get sick of? Hmmm.... I'd have to say "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks. It is THE best song to rock out to when you're feeling shitty.
If you were invisible for one day, what would you do? I would perform a whole lot of immature pranks on people that are relatively harmless, but loads of fun!!! *Smirk*
Do you believe in aliens? Yes, but I don't obsess about it, nor have I encountered one (thank goodness! I'd probably wet my pants!).
Where would you like to travel someday? Australia! The scenery is breathtaking and there are so many interesting, exotic animals to see.
Do you know all the words to the National Anthem ("O Canada")? Yes.
Are you in the choir? NO!!!!! Who would I be kidding? It's not nice to make people go deaf, y'know?
Could you get sick of chocolate? Yes, especially if I eat a LOT of it and if the strong flavour lingers in my mouth.
Do you like yellow Jello? Uhh....yeah...it's okay, but lemony-smelling things remind me of detergent. I like all Jello flavours. Cherry and grape are my favourites though.
On Hallowe'en, what do you dress up as usually? Now that I'm older, I don't usually dress up, however on the Hallowe'en that just passed, I dressed up as a punk school girl. I had all the details, from the black mesh top layered over a red tank top to the red-and-black plaid skirt. I had black-and-white striped arm warmers with white skulls, several necklaces, black fishnet stockings, black stilettos, a studded belt, and other accessories. I think that I really looked the part and it was a whole lot of fun.
Are you a night person? Not really, but somehow I always seem to wind up going to bed late. I prefer getting a good night's sleep - about 8 hours.
Do you get up early? Not when I don't have to...*smile* Sleeping in is a great luxury!
Do you laugh or giggle? I laugh. Occasionally I'll giggle though. I know someone who can only giggle (Pss...Hi Vera)!!!
Are you tall or short? A bit on the short side I'm around 5' 3" or so. There used to be a time when I wanted to be taller, but now it doesn't bother me at all. I'm comfortable with my height and it's proportionate to my stature.
Would you ever want to be taller? Before I wished that I could be at least 5' 8" or so, but then I realized that it's not height that really matters. It's the inside that counts. Physical attributes fade over time, but the soul and personality of a person are eternal. I am happy with myself and who I am! *Smile* If I want to be taller, then I can just wear higher heels. It's no big deal anymore. I've become more comfortable with myself and what God gave me (when it comes to height, anyway).
Do you drink tea or coffee? Nope...I don't particularly like either one of them. If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose honey-lemon tea.
Do you drink Coke or Pepsi? I really dislike the taste of both...but if I am dying of thirst, I will obviously drink it. I prefer Root Beer, although I haven't drunk pop for a long time now. It's not healthy for you anyway, since it contains atrocious amounts of sugar.
Are you scared of the camera? NO! Infact I am quite the Shutterbug! I love taking pictures and being in pictures..err...that's so long as I look decent! If I'm in my pajamas and hardly awake then umm...NO!
Do you make fun of people? Uhh...yeah. I am human afterall (sorry to disappoint you. I'm not a little green person like you initially thought). I don't make a habit of it though and I don't intentionally mean to hurt the person's feelings. Usually, they are just harmless little jokes. I don't bully people. The kind of jokes I mean are the trivial ones such as about someone's hairstyle and such. I don't diss people to their face for stupid reasons.
Do you fall asleep watching T.V.? Rarely. In fact, I can't remember the last time I did.
Do you talk on the phone a lot? I used to be a real chatty "phone person" but I think now that's died down a little. I still can talk for several hours straight, but now I find myself doing things away from the phone. If I need to talk to someone, usually it's face-to-face more.
Do you chat a lot online? I get on MSN Messenger when I'm at work (because at my unique workplace, it's actually allowed and encouraged). I talk mainly to co-workers and friends when I'm online.
If you could offer the world some advice, what would it be? Question everything, trust in God, and trust in yourself.
Are you afraid of the dark? No....*gulp*...unless you sneak up from behind me and scare me right after I saw a creepy film! *Mary Screams*
How old were you when you got your first job? 16 years old (Grade 10)
Ever have something stolen from you? Yeah, someone took my winter jacket from my locker. I never got it back. I didn't even find out who took it either.
If you could be anyone in the world for one day, who would you be and why? Instead of giving a cop out answer such as "I'd just be myself because I'm special", I will answer this question with more thought. My answer is more unconventional because most people tend to want to walk in the shoes of a positive celebrity or role model. If I could be anyone in the world, I would be one of the poor, starving, malnutritioned, dying, diseased people in Africa. This is because it might wake me up and make me a more caring and more charitable individual who becomes a strong activist, fighting for those whose voices are muffled or silenced. I'm not uncaring or uncharitable now, but I think that the experience would move my soul and it would push me to do greater good during my lifetime. Now, for my second answer, which is more conventional, for a day only, I think it would be interesting to be J.K. Rowling....to get some insight on her writing talent and to get a first-hand glimpse at her fame and fortune. Her job (as a writer) is what I consider to be a dream job. I would like to become a professional writer and becoming a famous author would be icing on the cake. Some people want to become singers or actors to achieve fame, but I would feel much more satisfied if I achieved fame through my writing talent. Why? I would first be known for my actual writing and THEN perhaps for my personality/image/etc, but the latter isn't all that important to me. I would be content as an anonymous author. Just to be able to SEE my published work in a bookstore would send shivers up my spine of delight.
Do you go to church? Yes, every Sunday.
If someone paid you $1000 to eat live worms, would you? Eww!!!!!! No way! Not for all the money in the world! I wouldn't get sick for money.
Do you wear nailpolish? Yes, but lately I haven't been wearing it as much as I usually do. I'm too busy...or too lazy.
How many bottles of nailpolish do you own? Well...as of November 2006, I have 19 bottles.
Do you go to University or College? I went to university.
What program are you in? In the summer of 2005, I received my Psychology Honours B.A. degree.
What subject(s) is/are challenging for you? Chemistry. I tried so hard in Grade 11, struggling to get a final mark of 80%!!! Also, Calculus and Physics are really tough for me to understand. I'm so glad that I no longer have to take those courses.
What percentage do you consider "bad"? Anything lower than 70%.
Have you ever gotten a mark lower than 70%? Yes, occasionally, but I mostly got A's.
Would you prefer working with children or working at a computer terminal? Definitely working with children. They are so fun and spunky, not to mention cute!!! Of course they aren't terribly cute when they pull the tablecloth and knock all the dishes on the tile floors........
Have you taken any dancing lessons? Yeah. When I was little, I took ballet and tap dance. You should see my tu-tu and ballet slippers. They are SO cute!!!! I still have them to this day!
Been skydiving or bungee jumping? Nope.
Favourite amusment park ride: The Giant Ferris Wheel. You can see the whole park from the top. I also like good rollercoasters that make your heart race. One time my friend Eva and I rode a rollercoaster 13 times straight!
Are your fingers sore from typing up all these questions? No...I can type a lot and I don't mind actually! I type roughly 60 words per minute. I like typing.
Do you like the Backstreet Boys and N Sync? I'm not really a fan of either, but if I had to choose, I'd choose The Backstreet Boys. Oh, and I don't think that Nick is the best-looking. I think Kevin looks the best out of the bunch because while Nick still looks like a teenaged boy, Kevin looks like a man. I'm attracted to manly men more than Pretty Boy guys.
Do you like Britney Spears' songs? I'm not into her songs much, but I respect her as an artist. Being that famous can't be easy, especially after having married Kevin Federline. It takes guts, dedication, and public flaunting of your body. If I HAD to choose one of her songs that I actually like (which by the way is difficult since I don't care for many of her songs), I suppose it would be "Breathe on Me" from her "In the Zone" album.
What's your favourite types of food? Italian!!! I don't think that I could ever get tired of pasta.
What do you think of Marilyn Manson? I've heard that he's a really intelligent man, but I'm not sure. His CD covers freak me out because they look so satanic. I'm not sure if it's true, but I heard that he actually became a satanic minister!!! *shivers*
What do you think about Barney, the purple dinosaur? He's cute for kids, although some adults may get annoyed by that fixed fake smile on his face.
What songs do you think are eternal? "Waltz of the Flowers" by Tchaikovsky from the classic Nutcracker ballet or "The Phantom of the Opera" from the opera/musical of the same name. They will never lose their magic. I don't listen to much classical music, but his music really moves me.
Do you own a cell phone or a pager? No...I have no need of either...yet...Besides, I don't like being able to be contacted at all times.
What is your definition of the word "old"? Conventional, cranky, and not having any imagination. When I think of the word "old" I don't necessarily think of the elderly, since many of them are so wise, patient, and worldly.
Do you like black socks or white socks? Black socks. I own mostly black socks. I have about 3 pairs of white socks, but the rest of my drawer is filled with a dozen or more pairs of black socks. Oh, and no, I don't have socks with cows or pigs on them. Honestly, socks are socks...and I don't need to have any frilly ones with funny cartoon characters on them. Even if I had a foot fetish, I wouldn't be into socks. I would go for those jewel-encrusted strappy sandals/stilettos. Now THOSE are something to oogle at!
What do you think about the Teletubbies? I think they look really weird and in a way scary! I mean...they have television screens on their bellies and this weird thing (antennas) sticking out of their heads.
What shows did you watch when you were little? Today's Special, Care Bears, The Smurfs, Sesame Street and Polkadot Door.
Do you remember Rainbow Brite? YEAH! I have a book and a doll! I think she's really cool! Check out my subpage on Rainbow Brite !
Where were you born? CANADA!!!! Canadians ROCK!
Do you like snakes? NOOOOOOO! It's pathetic, but I have scary dreams involving snakes at least every year....SSSSSSssssssss
What about lizards? Nope...no reptiles for me! I prefer cats or dogs.
Have you gone wild in the Pokemon craze? NO! I haven't even watched the cartoon. I don't see the point. If I were younger, perhaps...I remember that I used to like Sailormoon in Grade 9. That was just a stage I think. It passed quickly.
Ever dyed your hair? Yes, several times. For a few years now, I've decided to stop dying my hair. I'm leaving it natural because 1) It's way too expensive, 2) I never get the exact shade of red that I always strive for, and 3) I'd rather spend my money on buying products that will promote the health of my hair. I'm gradually learning that my natural haircolour is beautiful and that I shouldn't cover it up.
To you, what is a fashion victim? Someone who gets suckered into buying anything and everything just because it's "in style".
Do you read YM or Seventeen magazine? Nope, not anymore. I've just lost interest in those kind of magazines because I find that their articles are repetitive. It seems like they're always giving the same make-up advice and answering the same questions over and over again. Picking up those magazines gives me deja vu. Right now I have subscribed to intellectually-stimulating magazines such as "Psychology Today" and "Mental Floss," but unfortunately I still am subscribing to superficial magazines like "Marie Clare" and "LouLou." Once the last two subscriptions are over, I'm not going to renew them.
Did you go to your Grade 12 Prom? YES!
Did you ever think, "What if no one asks me to go?" ? Yes and I didn't care. I still went because it was a once-in-a-lifetime thing! I planned to have fun with OR without a date. There's some girl power for ya!
Are you a fundamental feminist? I'm not a fundamentalist in anything in life. I am a feminist, but not a fundamental feminist (which is really extreme). Being a feminist (not a fundamental feminist) means that I strive for equal opportunities for males and females. Of course the equality has to be rational. For instance, I wouldn't expect a fire department to hire an incompetent female over a competent male for a job. The person who best suits the job should get it in the end. Many people are feminists, even if they don't use the label. Feminism does NOT include being a man hater. That is the wrong and twisted definition.
Short skirts or long skirts? I LOVE long skirts because they are so elegant and classy, but I love short skirts because they are so flirty. I really love the 3-tiered, trendy skirts or the corporate, sophisticated pencil skirt.
What's your most embarrassing moment? One time in church, the priest had a special prayer for Father's Day. I thought he said, " Let us all stand up and say a special prayer for all the fathers", so I stood up. Well, it turns out that he had said, " Let all the fathers stand up and we'll say a special prayer for all of them" or something like that. *Blush* So, you can imagine. There I was, standing up when only FATHERS were supposed to stand up! I felt foolish...and I'm sure that my face turned beet red. I could feel my cheeks flushing. *Blush*
What's the latest you've ever stayed up at night? All the way to 6 AM!!!
Do you like figs? Yeah...they are okay. They're not my favourite though.
Do you filter your water? Yes...I use a Shaklee filter. It gets out more than the Brita filter does. The Shaklee filter isn't in stores though...it's a special company.
What is this Shaklee company about? A company that produces products which are in harmony with nature. To see the website, click here.
What makes the world go round? I say God (God=love). Some say love and others still say money.
What would you do if you won the lottery? I would invest some of it and then enjoy life with the rest of it. I would still work though. I wouldn't just decide to take it easy since I have a lot of money because as we all know, money isn't everything.
If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be? An earth angel. I consider an earth angel to be an angel put on earth by God to do good and to help humans in trouble.
Do you have any obsessions? I am really into beautiful photographs. I have plastered a lot of my favourite photographs on the closet doors in my bedroom. Hmm...but I don't think my love for photos is really an obsession.
Would you ever dye your hair purple, blue, pink or some other "funky" colour? No...not intentionally...haha...just kidding. I think that blue hair is neat and at one point I did consider dying my hair blue. I didn't follow through with it though.
What are your favourite candies to eat? Skittles, Smarties, Gummi Bears, Starburst, Fuzzy Peach, Jelly Beans...etc.etc.etc. The list goes on and on and on! I LOVE candy!
What are you afraid of? Dying...I do believe in Heaven, but...the thought of death just makes me scared. I'm also afraid of having someone fall out of love with me. This already happened to me. Andy was the first guy to ever break my heart. It's not all bad though, because to this day, we are friends.
Over the years, how do you think you changed? I think that I have become more sensitive with respect to my emotions and feelings. I follow my instincts a lot more and have become way more spontaneous. I'm bolder now than I ever was. I can say what's on my mind without intimidation, usually.
Are you a good girl or a bad girl? Well...haaaaaahaaaa.....I am actually both. Most people see me in that whole "good girl" image....but when I really get to know someone and be myself, I can be naughty. It all depends on the situation!
Do you believe in love at first sight? Well....although I have not experienced it, yes, I believe that it is possible. Sometimes people are instantly attracted to each other, and it's the real deal.......true love. I think it's beautiful. Actually, my ex-boyfriend, Mike, claims that the first time he saw me, it was love at first sight!
What perfume do you like? Currently, my favourite perfume is Fantasy. Yes, it's the one that's promoted by Britney Spears, however, she's only a spokesperson and the real mastermind behind it is Elizabeth Arden. I wear that perfume almost every single day. It's sweet and light. It's one of the few perfumes that doesn't give me a headache.
If you could have a custom perfume made, how would it smell? I would want it to smell like REAL lilacs (that would be hard though). I would want to smell it and trick my brain into thinking that I was smelling a fresh, fully bloomed lilac....MMMMMmmmm!
What do you find frustrating? Actually, I have a FEW things: Algebra & Geometry, smelling a delicious apple pie and not being able to eat it, going after a guy who you really love, but he doesn't love you, etc. Oh yeah, and those Rubix Cubes! Ahhh! I could never get those! Haha.....
What's your racial background? I am Chinese/Irish/Scottish, although I have been mistaken for Filipino, Spanish, and even Korean before!!! People just don't know what to make of me...hehe...
Do you prefer to take the bus or get a ride? Haha...I'm so lazy. I would rather bum a ride.
If I leave a mean comment in your guestbook, will you cry? I got rid of the guestbook a few years ago, but to answer the question....Umm...no! I will just think that you are a really pathetic and lowly person...then I'll have a good laugh over it and then I'll delete it and save your IP address. I don't let those little things get to me. Only people who don't know me would say nasty things about me and I figure you're not worth it.
What was your biggest splurge ever? My biggest splurge was probably on the new Coach Signature Gallery Tote (in Brass/Brown). It was about $400 CDN.
Would you ever want to become a singer or an actress? Nope. I'm not the least bit interested in the Hollywood glitz. I DO like being in school plays though. If I became famous, I would rather want to become so because of my writing talent.
What are your favourite articles of clothing? I would have to say ultra low-rise stretchy vintage-washed jeans. They are incredibly comfortable and because they sit low on the hips, they usually fit my butt much better than jeans that sit at the waist. I'm not a bubble butt girl.
What is your style, fashion-wise? My style has become more preppy over this last year. I no longer like words on my shirts though. I'm now veering towards more polished pieces such as dress shirts, modern dress pants, and bootcut jeans in dark vintage washes. I dress more sophisticated on an average day.
What do you think about raves? I think that it's a wonderful idea to express yourself as an individual and have fun by dancing. The whole "PLUR" (Peace Love Unity Respect) idea is wonderful and I think that the media only focuses on the negative aspects of raves (like drugs). Even though I've never actually been to a rave, I'm sure that it's not as bad as the news makes it out to be!
If you could either fly like a bird or swim like a fish, which would it be? Fly...I've always wanted to touch a cloud and see the world from above.
What makes you feel like puking? Seeing people eat octopi, squids, snakes and/or snails, seeing roadkill or a dead animal (like a squirrel) that insects are feasting upon, open wounds, surgeries with lots of delicate incisions and lots of blood, those fish called Smelts (they really DO stink), people eating the meat from crab legs and using those tiny forks to pick out the insides, toads and smelling fresh dung/vomit/anything nasty like that.
What is/are your weakness(es)? I am a procrastinator. I am usually controlled by my instincts and emotions rather than logic. I have to admit that sometimes I am afraid of changes. Sometimes I have a really low self-esteem (and this is quite problematic when I get into this slump). I make the bluntest, silliest and at times, honest remarks that shock people (and myself).
Have you ever been on the radio? Yes, I have. It was when I was in grade 3. The topic was teacher appreciation. Kids called in to talk about the great teachers that they had. I spoke about my wonderful teacher at the time - Mrs. Katsuras.
Were you ever mentioned in a local newspaper? Yes. I was interviewed by a reporter. It was for the Sun newspaper. It was when I was in grade 11, I think (although it could have been grade 10...I can't remember exactly).
What is a cute moment you remember when you were a little kid? Well, when I was in grade one or so, we had to complete these workbooks called "Fully Alive." There was a section where you were supposed to draw a picture or paste a photograph of your parents' wedding. Okay, some background information before I continue is that my parents got married before I was born. I am the second child they had. Anyway, since I couldn't remember attending my parents' wedding, I innocently went to my mother and asked, " How come you didn't invite me to your wedding?" Hehe...as a little kid, I wanted to go to my parents' wedding. My mom said, " You weren't around." Really, she meant that I wasn't born yet, but the way she worded it probably wasn't the best way. To that, I asserted, " I was always around!!!!! You just didn't ask me!!!!" Haha...wasn't I a funny one????? Hahaha...
I might add more questions and answers if I feel bored.
