Foxglove
is one of my favorite perennial plants.
The flowers are long spikes covered with small bell-shaped blooms, usually with speckled throats.
Common foxglove (D. purpurea) blooms from June to September in many colors, including pink, white, purple, and red. It is an elegant plant with leafy stems and dense foliage at the bottom.
My plants grow 4 ft. It's a very easy plant to star from seed and I have been very sucessful growing them
in my garden.
HOW TO GROW
Choose a moist well-cultivated site that won't dry out in the summer sun. Seeds need to be started a year in advance. the plant self-seeds so it tends to stay
around for a long time.
GENERAL CARE Care is easy. Mulch to keep roots cool and water occasionally. Stake plants. Old blooms should be cut off, but some should left so it will set out seeds for the following year. |
